I have seen three shootouts for the new 450's and Kawasaki is on top on all, and the Yamaha has done well too --- Team Green did it up for 2019 it looks like. I wish I could afford to buy one.

2 smoke ain't no joke. I prefer my electric start on my KTM's. I guess. I can't say that anymore since everyone pretty much went to the go go button
What I want to see is an electric starter kit for a KX500 . There is such a kit for a CR500 at present called a "Panthera" , see it on CZcams . All the 500cc 2 strokes would be better if they had an electric starter , right ?

No.. finally a test that doesn't say one bike is the one and only. Finally a test that gives credit to all the bikes, they are all great. Get the bike u like most. Everybody has their own opinion. Why do u need someone to tell u this bikr is best and the one u should buy? Too many variables, to say one bike is best for everyone.

This is why we have people shooting people when they lose. We hand out participation medals now to all. When they get to the real world and there is no participation medal, they can't cope.

Sorry but that was awful. You offered very little information and I had to suffer through a bunch of obnoxious music and cinema. Vital MX has by far the best quality shootout this year regardless of whether people agree with the outcome. I subscribe to your magazine, I get tired of the focus being on videos of purposeful roost and whips and less about providing insight on the bikes. Good for Kawasaki though, it appears they built a great bike for this year.
It is more or less a promo for the magazine. If they give all the info, you won't need it. You know how marketing works, right?

RMZ has easy parts to find because of less changes. KX is always been a beast for the money. I can't resist the KTMs though they just have the best all around feel but have to get one used, theres too much markup on new.

So when and where did you race these race bikes? What were the strengths and weaknesses? What skill level riders did you have? I'm not sure how the weak clutch Honda beat the Hydraulic clutch of the KTM? Not sure how the brakes ranked superior to the KTM? Not a hater, I love the fit and finish of the Honda and want it to do well.

Try testing on a mx track after a national... anything will feel good on that flat track.
Finally a Japanese bike is back on top. For a while I was thinking Austrian bikes had taken over.
Only took 20 years for them to catch up on the clutch. :)

Somebody needs to make a mx chart and woods chart showing different aspects of each. ex mx jumping/landing berm ridind whoops takeoff woods roots rocks ease of trail handling takeoff power and low end torque. Chart these differently so somebody can buy the best bike for their purpose.

As far as i know the new Honda is a dual cam with no followers...that used to be the case of older Unicam 250 Hondas..
No Honda has been SOHC since it realised it's 250f in 2004. The reason Honda do this is to lower engine weight. And chain drag. One less cam shaft and one less sprocket to drive.
Ben Ferguson the Honda has a DOHC engine for christ sake! Read the brochure!
Look at pictures from the old sohc and the new dohc and you can clearly see the new 250f Honda has dohc head...and go to their website and read the brochure...

im not trying to be rude. im just explaining whats going on. i wish they would give some more info on what was good and bad about the bikes too... not just whats been updated.... we already know all this info. i still dunno if i want a honda or a kx450. hard one to pick. id love to ride both back to back.
They put out magazines a couple of months before the month they are supposed to come out. It'll be out by early October at the latest

Removing the kick starter cinda ruins the whole dirt bike feeling.
Just to be able to hop on to the big dirt bike and kick it is maybe 50% of the feeling owning one.
Only electric start makes EVERYONE able to start a beast, it's like the new star wars shit movies.. everyone has the force apparently.

I just had to sit through 13 minutes of Mark Tilley's "FOUR-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY-CC" shootout only to find your staffers did absolutely no work during the months of testing besides riding and regurgitating specs. Can't even get them to comment on each bike for different skill levels? Shootouts are a joke and a complete waste of time, congratulations Dirt Bike even TransWorld showed you guys up this year, and they are really, really airheaded over there.
