    Thanks Cruiseman I've been watching a lot of your videos lately just picked up a 2-18 blue dct . Another way to cancel your cruise without taking your hands off of anything is just roll the throttle forward this will cancel the cruise also.

    Thanks so much for the tips. Really useful. I'd read somewhere about Hill Start Assist but hadn't tried using it until now. The tip about opening the glovebox was the best for me. That darned mechanism really gave me problems until I watched your video. I was going to raise it with the dealership on its first service as I just couldn't get it to open reliably. Now I know exactly how to open it and it works every time. Anyway, thank you once again for your incisive help.

    Never slam anything. It’s always about press and fit. Couldn’t agree more. Rear seat auxiliary storage and bungee attachment points, absolutely correct. Beautiful bike. Perusal, great immediate use info CruiseMan. Thank you.

      I'm curious if the bungee trick around the handholds could be adapted to stabilize the rear part of the bike on a trailer? I wouldn't use bungee cords, of course, but there are ties to use for tie-down strap attachments on the front of the bike that I bought from the dealer when the dealer showed me how to put those ties just above the front fender on the shaft to attach tie-down straps.

    Great tip on the trunk latch, as on all previous models that light is annoying as the trunk is probably locked just not all the way but that stupid light is on. I normally just disable the latch switch on the trunk which fixed that issue. The saddle bag thing is good as one could actually have the bag open while riding so in that case the warning light is a good thing. I have a 2018 coming in next week and am anxious to see how well I like it. These tips will also come in handy.

    To cancel cruise control, twist the throttle as if you are rolling off the power. For using bungees on the grab handle I use small size soft ties . Keeps the length of the bungees shorter and is more versatile as well as easier.

    OK, I've put on about 2500 kilometers on my new 2019 Wing Tour. I've installed Lidlox on the bars for locking my helmet to the bike, fog light surrounds for a little bling, a protective film made to fit the dash ( the Honda dash plastic scratches just by looking at it), rear seat handrail brackets to allow bungee cord attachments but BY FAR, the best addition was a set of HELIBARS. They raise the bars 5/8 " and pull them back 2 3/4" for a more upright sitting position. The bike instantly seems more comforatable in this position and shoulder and back strain are greatly reduced on all day rides.

    • @gped2007
      @gped2007 Před 4 lety

    To cancel the cruise control, you can roll the throttle toward the closed position, from the throttle neutral position. It's in the owners manual. It is the easiest way as your hand should already be on it.

But holy smokes , what a bike !!! when i first stradeled the bike i, i could not beleive how light it seemed ! ive been lucky up through the years that ive tried every model of the wing from 1975 - to 2018 . You lucky b------s in the states will pay under 28 000 for a goldwing tour ! Here in Norway , the same bike costs 59318 dollars !!! Really hope i win the lottery soon ! :-) Greeting from a die hard Goldwing fan in Norway

    Late to the game, but another way to deactivate the cruise control is by rolling the throttle forward when the cruise is activated. I used to have this feature on my Indian motorcycles. To my surprise and pleasure, the new 2018+ GoldWing has that same ability. NICE.....

    Thanks Chris great tips just took delivery on my new 2018 Saturday last week. I had an old 05 Wing as well. Great videos man. Keep them coming. I see there is an issue about checking the oil level? There is some conflicts about how to do this from the instruction manual. Checking the oil level on the center stand on level ground on a cold engine can get new riders in trouble.

    THX... Very Nice and Smart Vid there my friend.. But, as I see it/this.. (and since I don't own a New 2018 GoldWing Bike (yet..) myself..) I can't help but think that this Video is a sort of "Nit Picking" mode of Yours really.. Cos, as you actually said yourself... This is a Great Bike.. And from all I've seen and learned about the bike myself.. I totally agree with you too.. This is and are things (even though they are very small things.. But, the weakest link in a chain and so on and so on..) things that Honda should resolve and then just give out for free on the newest models and future models to come.. Just to make this GREAT NEW BIKE into a NEWER AND EVEN GREATER BIKE.. Cos, let's just face it.. These are things that some Bikes and some Models of Bikes don't even have as standard on their new bike and Honda now have as standard on this GoldWing Bike.. SO.. The Bike IS and HAVE simply just became an VERY AWESOME BIKE (at least what I think..) HONDA have really just set the STANDARDS on Bikes with this new Model.. Right..??

    To cancel the cruise control I always just pull the clutch lever in slightly, just the free play in the lever, that will cancel the cruise control, but that won't work too well on the DCT with no clutch lever. LOL

    Great tips, Chris. I watched this video about the time I bought my '18 GW Tour DCT in Pearl (same as yours!) but I just reviewed it again to be reminded of a couple of things I had forgotten. On another subject, snce you have a DCT, I would like to ask if your DCT ever clacked through a few gear teeth before latching into first? I've owned my bike for ten days and it's happened twice. The DCT grinds a few teeth on acceleration from stop before getting into gear. Both times after sitting a few moments at a stop light. I've talked to service at my dealer on this past Friday morning as the shop opened and they wrote up a maintenance form and said they would call Honda about what to do. No call back on Friday or Saturday. Tomorrow, Monday, I'll follow up with them. In the meantime, I'm curious if this has happened to you or anyone reading this.

    • @rayhallman9309
      @rayhallman9309 Před 6 lety

      I also have the white DCT Tour, mine has experienced "gear grinding" (I'm assuming it's the same as what you're describing). I've got just over 5,000 miles and it's done it twice. I'm not too worried about it at this point.

    Picked up the tips and tricks on my DCT while playing with it. Tutorials are not very informative!. Just to let you know CM, that I had the trunk rack with the third brake light attached to it installed the other day. Looks real nice. Light adds that extra little "see me" moment. Bad thing about this upgrade is now you have less trunk space!!! What? Yep, with the locking bolts that hold on the trunk rack on the inside of the top case I can no longer get lid to close on my Shoei helmet. Frikkin sucks!!!

    • @spkuse
      @spkuse Před 6 lety +1

    • @rayhallman9309
      @rayhallman9309 Před 6 lety

      My bolts heads are also through the inside top liner. Also made a difference in helmet fit, especially together with the trunk mat. One work around for me was to lay the helmet on its side.

    • @mrdonsmith
      @mrdonsmith Před 6 lety +1

      Maybe because my head is big and I wear an XL size Shoei full-face (not modular) helmet, my helmet will only fit in my trunk if I roll up the mat underneath and push the face of the helmet into one of the back corners. Even then, it's a little bit of a push (not a force) to close the trunk lid. I have the Sena 20s communicator on the helmet so that adds and extra quarter of an inch in height to the helmet. It appears to me that anything that intrudes into the truck, such as a bolt head, will likely prevent me from putting my helmet into the trunk.

    I have had two Wings..a 1500 that had massive storage...comfortable ride but wasn't a "sport bike" although my wife and I did several trips through WV and all roads surrounding the Dragon. My 1800 was much more sporty and better adapted to the twisties..but had less luggage and my wife complained of harshness and wind. I loved both, for different reasons, as attested by the 97000 miles on my 1800.
    Just wondering if Honda has abandoned the guys like me who want a descend "sporty" ride...but bought their Wing simply "to go places I wouldn't otherwise go"? After all...when you get to a point where you can afford a $26k bike....most of us aren't the sleek 20 year old sport riders we might have once been...
    Love the new Wing...but will be keeping my '02
    I still love my `02

      The same points I had when the wet behind the ears kid at the dealership tried to tell me the future of touring. They parked the 2018 beside my 1500 and I had a laugh at how little it is. I couldn't fit my two helmets in the trunk it looked like a lunchbox next to mine. They added a lot of gee whiz gadgets but turned it into a weekender. No way could I load it for a 2 up trip for two weeks it would have to have a trailer.

      Since the Wing GPS is useless while underway, I installed a Garmin Zumo on the handlebars. Not only is it a far superior GPS for multi-route touring, but it does also display your speed as determined by satellite, which is more accurate than the mechanical speedo on the bike. By the way......the Honda speed as indicated by the analog speedo, is about 4 kilometers optimistic (faster).

    How are you sir, are you based out of Dallas? I see the radio station 105.3 The Ben & Skin show, which listen too when I'm not listening XM radio. I'm trying to make up my mind if I want to purchase a new or slightly used 2017 Goldwing or a New 2018 Goldwing. Before watching your videos I was convinced that I going to find an 17 Goldwing but now because and you I'm leaning towards 2018. This is my first Goldwing my wife is making me get rid of Kawasaki Ninja ZX 14r. I've had 5 Ninjas over the years and it's time for a change ever since I drove a friend's 2016 Honda Goldwing Touring. Now, I have to have one. So, I'm about 30 days away from paying cash for one.
