Acts 4:8-21 Teaching Outline
Text: Acts 4:8-21
Title: Emboldened
Memory verse: Acts 4:12, “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Theme: The Holy Spirit enables believers to speak with boldness.
I. Peter’s Declaration (vv. 8-12)
A. Peter’s declaration displays Holy Spirit reliance (v. 8)
B. Peter’s declaration drew attention to the resurrection (vv. 9-10)
Doctrine of Salvation: Lifeway says, “There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. I Corinthians 1:18 says, “ For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” Erickson’s Systematic says, “Salvation is the application of the work of Christ to the lives of humans” (p. 826)
C. Peter’s declaration drew attention to their rejection (v. 11)
D. Peter’s declaration defeated all other religions. (v. 12)
II. Their Demands (vv. 13-18)
A. Their demands were in awareness of the impact of Jesus’ presence (v. 13)
1. Jesus’s presence impacted their manner (v. 13a)
2. Jesus’ presence impacted their minds (v. 13b
3. Jesus’ presence impacted their meaning (v. 13c)
B. Their demands were in acquiescence to the influence of the miracle on the people (v. 14-17)
C. Their demands were in an attempt to minimize the increase of the gospel’s proliferation (v. 18)
III. Peter’s Determination (vv. 19-20)
A. Peter gives a determined warning (v. 19)
