    I love the OLED. Rarely played my previous switch in handheld and thus was playing it less. I literally pull my OLED out of the dock the moment I get home from work and play it every evening with sports typically on my tv. No regrets upgrading here!

    • @celticsfan7593
      @celticsfan7593 Před 2 lety +5

      Is it really that much better? I’m getting my first switch and was planning on playing in the dock most of the time so I was gonna get the Mario kart bundle for 300 and use the extra $50 towards a pro controller.
      But I luckily had the chance to order the OLED version today so I did, since they’re apparently hard to get. I was planning on canceling it but if the OLED screen is that good I might just keep it.
      What do you recommend? Thanks!

    • @Atreides217
      @Atreides217 Před 2 lety +10

      @@celticsfan7593 I would say get the OLED if you think there is a chance you’ll ever play in handheld because it is significantly better in that mode and the OLED is still really hard to find. If you will NEVER play in handheld, then the redbox Switch is totally fine. I used to play mainly in docked mode until I bought the OLED and now I play almost exclusively in handheld because I just love the OLED screen.

And with the bigger and better quality screen, plus being able to have a break from holding it handheld all the time, and plus being able to hook it up to a tv, makes all the difference. Yooooo, I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I traded my old Switch for $240 in gamestop store credit, and had $10 extra in store credit. I wound up paying only $108 out of my own pocket for the Switch OLED.😅

    Did you compare the speakers side by side? Most reviewers including digital foundry say there is a difference, also heard the motion is better on this screen. Double the storage and better battery life for people who got the original switch in 2017/2018 with degraded batteries by now.

      Don't waste your money. I chose it because I liked the way that it looked but I hardly use it. In my situation, I already bought the main first party games on Wii U so I don't get to play Zelda or Mario Kart etc on Switch. This is why I hardly use mine. If you don't have these games, I guess that you'll end up using it more than me because you don't have a Wii U but there's not many games that you will be playing on Switch. From my experience, all third party games look and play better on PS4.

      @@jasons890 All I have is a ds lite. The last games I bought for it were Pokemon black and white but nowadays I only play brain age once every few months. The system is over 12 years old and it still holds a charge surprisingly well. But that new Zelda and Animal Crossing look tempting. But I already have a major backlog of like 30+ games on my ps4 that I haven't even touched yet so maybe you're right and it would be a waste of money. Which is sad because a bestbuy near me finally had them in stock today smh.

    • @rzzd
      @rzzd Před 2 lety +1

      there is a setting on the switch that helps to prevent burn-in. it takes a very long time of being on the same screen to see even the slightest amount of burn-in so i don't think that it's a big problem unless you're playing games for hours on full brightness for days straight that have the same exact background hahaha

    Lol I have an OLED and I still prefer my Switch Lite because it's more comfortable. Yes the screen is awesome but my Playstation Vita OLED screen is almost the same and it came out 10 years ago. This OLED screen also costs $10. Does it makes sense to dish out another $349 just for the screen? If you use headphones, you won't care about the better speakers. If you buy a 32gb microsd card, you won't care about the increased storage and if you don't use table top mode, the kickstand isn't relevant either because you will never use it. I consider things like this before I buy any product because I don't want to waste my money on features that I'm never going to use anyway. Even though I have an OLED, I still don't think that it's worth $349. You won't get to notice the improvements if you play in handheld mode. Despite the games looking good on the OLED screen, the colors look better on a 4K TV. I tested the OLED against a 4K TV and it looked way better on the TV. If that's the situation that you're in and you only play on a TV, you're not going to benefit from the screen and it makes it pointless to get the OLED when you can just get a regular Version 2 Switch instead. Since the internals are the same, the experience that you will get with a regular Switch will be exactly the same experience that I have on my OLED.

      thank you for this perspective. I want to save $150 and get a Lite for a mere $199. I like the lightweight handheld which is more "nintendo" than a big heavy OLED. Same resolution too! Thanks man, you’re helping me decide which Switch to get as I’m upgrading from a Lite.

    • @jasons890
      @jasons890 Před 2 lety

      Depending on the type of gamer that you are, you might not need the regular or OLED. The Lite will be just fine. This is my honest experience with it. I also went from the Lite to the OLED. I had a little buyer’s remorse when I got the OLED because the TV mode wasn’t that much of an improvement and the motion controls were not that great either. On top of that, none of my friends and family are into gaming. Whenever I play, it’s just me and nobody that I care about is watching me. For introverted gamers like myself that prefer their peace and privacy, we don’t have to care about anyone watching us and we don’t need it to display on a TV. Whenever I play my console games, I prefer do it with a VR headset instead of the TV because I don’t have to worry about anyone else that wants to watch. For people like us, the Lite is just fine because it’s just for us and not for anyone else. Even after getting the OLED, I still feel that the Lite is better for handheld mode because of comfort and portability. Since some of us feel that it’s too big for handheld mode and none of our friends/family are into gaming, it’s pointless to get the regular and OLED if you don’t care about motion controls and displaying on a TV. Then again, everyone isn’t like me and they enjoy the motion controls. Personally, I don’t like it and I think that it’s finicky. I prefer the standard controls. If you have friends and family that you want to watch, you can get the regular or OLED. I prefer playing alone and since I don’t have to care about anyone else that wants to watch, I would have been just fine if I stuck with the Lite and didn’t get the OLED. Games are also meant for a mobile screen because it looks blurry and stretched out when displayed on a television. You can get the regular or OLED but when you do, you’ll only get a newer appreciation for the Lite as a handheld. It’s still better in so many ways. You’ll see what I mean💯 If you just want something that displays on a TV, the 2017 Switch goes on sale for under $200 and plays games the exact same way. Since the games don’t push the graphics that much, performance is almost the same. You’ll just have a worse battery life but if you keep it docked all the time and use the Lite for Handheld mode, the battery life doesn’t matter.
