Moving forward. This will be the ONLY suspension setup video I will ever watch and I know I will have to rewatch this over and over again. I would call Kyle not only as a master but also a genius. Suspension is so freaking complicated yet Kyle interpret em in a Simple Way. A Genius keep things simple from something thats too complicated. . The way Kyle interprets settings by translating them to the reality is what made it simpler and really nailed. Simple but not lacking the right details. I also liked the chart that shows comparison which way the dial should go on an Open or Closed way, those visuals made a lot of difference. OMG thank you so much for this video. Intensive and very helpful.
Thank you so much!!! 🥺😁 So glad that you liked the video so much, there was a lot of work that went into it and what you got out of it made it so worth it!!!!
@@AprilRideMTB You totally demystified it for me. Thanks!!
@@AprilRideMTB you both did a really awesome job. So easy explained without lacking the right details. Just one question. How do you settle High Rebound an Slow Rebound. You Guys are just genius thank u so much an keep going its totally worth it. Big Thanks
Agreed, I have watched so many videos that confused me. I have gotten tired of it and set it up to the bike manufacture suggestions and stopped playing with it. With this video it made it simple to understand and capture what I needed to do. Now I have a better riding bike thanks. The Fox videos are complicated.
@@AprilRideMTB is everyone 🎉
Ok… I’ve watched sooooooo many suspension setup videos and NO ONE has explained it so simply but with every bit of details needed. Excellent as usual!
Thank you so much!!! 🥺😁
Me too, but I hope it works for setting xc fork with rebound and heavy weight. Not sure if I can apply proper force, if it won't be too much so if rebound be good, too much force will bump the wheel. Only thing I didn't set yet
I can see myself cycling back to this vid for years to come
Awesome!!!
Hey Everyone! We hope this video is really helpful for getting your bike setup dialed in! We added a ton of chapters throughout the video so it should be pretty easy to brush up on certain parts.
Also @ 27:08 There is a quick recap of how to measure front and rear sag, and set rebound for both the fork and shock.
We would love to hear your experiences if this helps in any way! You guys are the best!!
Kyle & April
When going off the curb do I have my seat down or up? It looked like April had hers down.
Just purchased my first bike, specialized levo e-bike. Would this be the same process. Thanks.
One great way to tune the rebound on the rear- grab the seat and lift the rear wheel off the ground about 2 ft and drop. The rear wheel should hit the ground and not bounce, if it does you have too little rebound
I'm a road rider who just got a full suspension MTB. I had know idea about tuning a bike to match the individual ridder. I appreciate how you two were able to demonstrate how to do this. Great job and thank you for presenting this video. 👍
You two have the best videos. So informative. This is the best explanation and how to for mtb suspension setup I've seen. Kudos and gratitude 🙏 Boomshanka
I’m 42 and just got into MTB. While I’m waiting for my bike to arrive I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Kyle and April videos. These are so helpful and well paced. Just wanted to say you guys rock and thanks for the amazing content.
Great video, my very best compliments !
And April’s smile … is mind blowing ! 😉
One thing I would have mentioned is that most forks and shocks only have low speed compression adjustment. That's what the average rider and the average viewer is probably using :) Anyhow, your videos just always manage to explain the things more clearly than anything else despite having watches tens of similar videos in the past. Watching these you get the full picture in one go instead of having to piece it together from bits of information.
Yeah I thought Kyle showed that with his hardtail in this video, unless it got cut? Glad you enjoyed the video!
New bike day brings me back to Kyle's exceptional suspension setup guide. Thanks again for posting! Kyle & April are gold!
Very good video! Pro tip for setting sag by yourself - if your feet don't reach the ground, get a crate (or a log, or a kerb) on one side, so you can step off without compressing the forks!
Learnt to set up my suspension years ago. Maybe I'll go adjust it again, who am I kidding, I'm just here for april.
Thank you! This is by far the best tutorial I’ve come across on suspension set up. And you guys are the most likeable people in mountain biking. 😊
Thank you, glad it helped!
That is the most clear and easy to understand of the 30+ sus setup vids I have seen over the years. Most pros cover the function and the goal but fail to connect them with practical clear steps. Well done!
You really know what you’re saying Kyle. The best tutorial i’ve seen so far. You really explained very well the purpose of every knob in a suspension. Thank you.
Thank you!
I'm a road rider who just got a full suspension MTB. I had know idea about tuning a bike to match the individual ridder. I appreciate how you two were able to demonstrate how to do this. Great job and thank you for presenting this video. 👍
I went out and used your technique to set up suspension and found my fork needed some serious adjustment! Went out the other day and wow! What a difference! You guys are really making us common folk better riders! 😁
That's awesome to hear!!! 😊
This is the best video on suspensiom setup I've come across on CZcams. This one has earned its place on my MTB playlist. Thanks for sharing.
Great to hear, glad you liked it so much!
Great Video! Thanks guys!
Lefty loosy and Righty Tighty helped me a lot in recalling the direction controls. Thanks Kyle and April!
This is hands down the best video on CZcams on how to set up suspension. Thank you so much for making this!
Great to hear, thank you!!!
I need someone to look at me the way April looks at Kyle while he talks about bikes. You two are so cute. Also great Video I come back to reference this video often!
I learn more from these videos than I have after watching other channels for 2 years. 😆😁🤣
*Heavy when full*Excellent !! Made mywife very happy !!
Best Suspension Setup Tutorial Ever! Great job Kyle and April.
Thank you so much!!! 🥺😁
Awesome! You guys are the best at explaining
Thanks, this was awesome and easy to follow!
Thanks for taking the time to show and explain everything!
Great video as usual. One point: in my opinion is really important to make all of these little adjustments wearing all the stuff you use to ride with: your protections, camelback, tools... all of these extra weight could make a big difference most in the sag but in the rebound too.
Yes that is true, thank you for adding that!
My thoughts exactly, who rides without gear on, water tools and tubes etc. etc.. That could be 20 to 30 lbs. more.
Kyle and April, your tutorials are so helpful. Thank you so much
I just got a 140mm Pike Ultimate with HSC and LSC dials and had no idea how to set them or what changing the settings would do. I scoured the internet looking simple explanations in plain English with no luck. But then I found your channel and this video which was pure gold. Thank you for laying things out in simple terms for us newbies. You both rock!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic video guys!!!!!
such a great video.. thank you so much!
Loving your channel. Very informative. Pleasure to watch because you both do such a fantastic job. Thank you both so much.
Just got my first full suspension bike, this video is immensely helpful in getting it set up correctly! Thank you!

Great video guys
A wealth of information and delivered in the best kind of way. Thank you!
The lbs-to-psi ratios for front and rear are just brilliant. Thanks for your work, it's the best mtb suspension guide on the internet.
Right!! makes it so much easier 🤯
Your explanation is so awesome. 超級好及詳細的解說!Thanks Kyle &April! From Hongkong
Love the Half Body Weight. You just saved me from taking picture of my fork chart again!
That's great that it helped you!
Very thorough and helpful! Yes, there is a lot to take in, but you guys explained the how and the why. That's great to make the best decision when setting our own bikes 😁
Best video I have seen on suspension tuning and I’ve seen a lot! Great video as usual.
This was a very good explanation of how to setup the suspension. Real life feel setup!!!👍
Man this is so informative and very easy to understand coming from a newbie like me. Thanks for sharing you guys are awesome!🙌🙌🙌
Super useful. I had NO idea when I first got my bike
So long as you keep April in your videos I’ll keep watching, LOL.
The best explanation and teaching tool for us rookies! Thank you!!!
I really hope you both are doing GREAT.
I’m new to MTB and this video will help me a lot! I’m 6’3, 250 lbs + and my suspension feels crappy. Because my sag is bad I hit a rock with my chainring and broke off a tooth. I’m gonna need a shock pump! Thanks for the video sir!
Fabulous video! Will never need to watch any other suspension setup video.
Another awesome video with great information presented in an easy to digest format! Also, video title is top notch "a complete guide to a better ride".
Awesome tips! Also pretty cool you two have Niner MTNbikes! I have 2014 Niner ROS9 myself.
Thank you Kyle and April. You cannot believe what a huge difference this made in my downhill ability. For the first time I did not feel so out of control in more technical downhill sections. I appreciate all that you two do for this sport!
Thank you so much for teaching this stuff in such a common sense way. Nicely broken into easily digestible pieces. Absolutely fantastic. I set up my Evil Calling early this morning and then rode Corrals, Bob’s, and Highlands. I flat out would have gone over the bars coming down Bob’s (big rock, big drop) if I hadn’t set up the bike this morning as you taught. Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for this one! Thanks great video with input from both.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid. Thanks for the advice
Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow! That was sooo much information. I will have to take it in baby steps with a note pad. I have been riding for several years and never really understood how all this worked. So excited to get this down. Thank you
Thanks so much for doing this video. It was a great big help & super knowledgeable. Keep them coming guys.!! Awesome!

It cannot be overstated how useful this video series is. A couple of clicks to open the rebound more open in the fork, one click in the shock and it was a whole different ride. Thank you!
Very helpful you two. This will help me so much in the shop.

I got my new bike at weekend I'll definitely be trying this out for my sag! Every other video says to use a wall and never use your front brake so yeh find this looks alot better
