- This year April finally decided to test her skills at a mountain bike event! The Sea Otter Classic Dual Slalom was the perfect opportunity to have some fun and see how it felt to compete on and off the track. It was quite the adventure and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Great to hear Kyle sounding healthy and happy; and seeing the April smile - what a progression over her journey . What a fun looking track. The go pros of her first round had me cheering for her.
I started doing XC races last year, and I can tell you the nerves are real. When you wait for them to call you up, you get really stressed. But as soon as the start horn blows, the nerves completely disappear.

Kyle, It Would be interesting for Fans to receive updates on your heart health and progress. Lots of people worldwide are experiencing the same problem and your success may be an inspiration to them.
Great Race April....also, "for your information," the bike stores here in Florida are having a hard time keeping supplies of electric bikes available for retirees. This may be a new Instructional Video market for you.
Kyle, you can dress April in a Granny costume with gray hair to teach the old people like me to ride.
Thank you! Kyle has provided some updates on his instagram and he did a final update with Dr John Campbell on his page, but we are trying to keep our youtube centered on MTB. We have wanted to try and find a way to do videos on electric bikes, we do get a bit too much hate when we do which builds up. So I think for our mental health, especially after how hard this last year was for us, I don't think it will best for us to try it soon. But it has always been something we think about and is a great suggestion!

Awesome! Welcome to the Sea Otter. Live in the area and great to see riders from everywhere to ride the trails. Santa Cruz has some great downhill trails but difficult to incorporate in this festival. Have fun!

That's it, this is the nail in the coffin. I picked up MTB at the end of last year, I'm gonna push myself this year and I plan on racing in the DS at Sea Otter next year. Just for fun, but the environment looks so fun!

I have never raced a mtn bike but have competed in motorcycle racing. (desert racing, mx, observed trials)
I'd like to see a video of you trying mtb enduro and mtb cross country.
Might that be on your horizon?
Winning is great but unless you're trying to race for a living, participating and keeping it fun and enjoyable is more important. Your fans and friends will still like you, win or lose.

The MTB race was pretty similar to doing a local MX race, there was a lot of hurry up and wait. Also a lot of anxiety for me, Kyle probably didn't show half of it haha. I feel like if they shortened the time in between practice, qualifying and the race that I would have had way less anxiety haha.
I'm not really planning on continuing to pursue racing, but will do so if a race sounds fun. There was a weekly downhill night race at our local mountain that I might consider doing, but at the end of the day I just want to make sure I keep MTB fun for me and racing can quickly turn too stressful for me.
I personally don't have any desire to race a cross country, because that style is just not fun for me. Enduro is close to that in the fun factor, but if there is an appealing enough version to me, I might do one some day.
Dirtbike rider here never seen any of these races before but wow! Looks like so much fun. Just earned another subscriber! Good riding too 😁

My derailleur fell to bits 6 weeks ago so i just started riding my DH bike chainless, & discovered that chainless riding is AWESOME! 6 months in to MTB after a 10 year hiatus, the last 5 weeks of chainless riding has been equivalent to the previous 5 months of riding as far as progression goes. Consistently faster & getting more poised on the bike.. Getting back on the chain this week though haha with some other upgrades. But will continue to pump more, pedal less, hit better lines & carry through speed.. Come summer, I'm definitely going to do a chainless downhill race! Cant wait!
That’s great practice! Kyle’s chain fell off on a ride one time and so we decided to let him go ahead of the group as fast as he could with pumping and good technique. I thought for sure I would catch him. Almost ten miles probably and I never saw him haha
