- Raising orphaned baby apes isn't a piece of cake! It involves long days in the hot, humid jungle, babysitting some rowdy little chimps as they get up to all kinds of mischief in their baby ape forest school - sometimes for months on end! This job takes a great amount of patience and the right kind of person - in this case, it's the two Chimp Daycare Dads Romain and Sanda of Ape Action Africa. These men are unsung heroes and deserve the deepest respect and (worldwide) acknowledgment for their hard and dedicated work. I hope they get paid very-very generously and their families are taken care of too, not only because they deserve a high salary and other benefits could encourage more local people to take part in conservation work. Just curious, about how old/big do the baby chimps get before they are too old/big to be handled and moved elsewhere? Or do they tend to still be affectionate with their foster moms and dads later in life too? There must be a point where it gets a lil scary to even play with them once big enough... It's amazing how much time and energy goes into helping these animals, the average person could never do it, but these blessed folks will see amazing things from these creatures that we'll never see either.
