I know you didn't ask, but the Steel Dragons!! They're not the Black Dragons. They came into your care as fighters, burdened with mites, yet still fight for their survival! Even being feisty and territorial when "attacked" by tweezers, haha! :) Their gorgeous metallic colour and sharp spikes remind me of armor, really making them look like warriors.
I feel like the lemon therapy in that setup would be super effective, especially when the fog machine runs and helps circulate air/moisture. Good luck, I really love these little guys!! So COOL!

That new camera makes a huge difference, the amount of detail we can see on those ants is crazy! I think you should definitely keep this new colony and try to help them - they came to you just as you lost your last ones, if that's not the universe sending you a message I don't know what is. ;) Good luck!

13:15 after knowing what I seen for the future.... the golden empire is insanely strong. you can see they have had the blood mites on them since last year... and slowly they are becoming more and more common on the ants.. Thankfully he noticed them in time to save them though in the end.
I'd say you should name this colony "Iron Bulls" since they have bull like armour horns as well as they are metaly colour. Also it sounds cool in my opinion.

These new ants are exquisitely beautiful, they might be called the Silver dancers. Can you isolate a few of the mites to examine them under a microscope and see what they are? They must be very disorienting on the eyes. There are some thyme based herbal pastes that we use with good effect to deal with mites in our bee hives, I wonder if it might work for the ants as well...🖤🇨🇦

212marchy Dragons haven’t done too well in there so far, I was thinking maybe a name without dragons in it could prove more fortuitous. The dancer came to mind because they are very active and graceful even while dealing with the mites, they looked like they were dancing as they began to explore their new environment. I loved the Black Dragons too, but it was just the idea that maybe a shift from dragon names might also be a shift in luck for the denizens of El Dragon Island. The name is still there in the place name. Just a thought. 🐜🖤🇨🇦

They don’t use the lemon juice to drink it to remove the mites so it wouldn’t be helpful in that rescpect but honey is like a miracle substance so I wouldn’t be surprised if them rubbing honey on themselves was good

as an animal keeper who also keeps animals in man made habitats containing species rarely looked deeply into i think you owe it to both the ants and the scientific community at least the documentation of your efforts. succeed or fail the information is priceless.
This... So much this. We missed out on nearly 5 months of potential learning for science and a great source of guiding a younger generation towards research and science in general with the black dragons.
I understand we need to cover the other colonies here but a short 2 to 5 min bit on the poly's just for research and potential world wide science advances would be a highlight for me and anyone that is in the trenches of insect research and discovery... Maybe just hidden videos too with no narration or cuts?
Also think this could open up a whole new dialog between experts, yourself, and the fans or future ant care takers across the globe.

SDD525 these videos are like watching an animal documentary like the last lions, no disrespect ac caretaker or ac fam. The documentation is of the adventure not on the personality of the individual ant. Don't get me wrong the 3sec snippets are valuable but not compared to an uncut version following an individual for a long period of time. Ac has done this before but with a humanised storyline....which I really enjoy watching

I'm really afraid that these are the bad kind of blood sucking mites! the fact that the one ant is literally showing pain from the mites being around its eyes is an indicator that there's biting going on and that would mean that they're the blood-sucking kind! I really hope I'm wrong but I'm kind of afraid for these guys!

I feel like they aren't parasitic simply because the ants aren't dead already, I mean, there are a lot of mites on those ants and if being in close quarters for that long in the test tube with the mites haven't killed them yet, they're most likely phoretic. I could also be completely wrong, I know nothing about ant keeping, I just like watching this channel lol

With the exception of the body spines, these new Polyrhachis ants look similar to Camponotus pennsylvanicus which I often encountered growing up in Houston, Texas. Next to the S. invicta that I had many unfortunate encounters with, C. pennsylvanicus were the most notable ants to me because they were the largest ants I saw in person growing up.

Because they are as beautiful as obsidian, and obsidian is also called "Apache tears"

Because of the Black Dragon's departure, the Dragon's skull dropped some tears and the tears turned into the new black dragon with a beautiful obsidian scales.

I don't really know anything about mites, but I was here when the Golden Empire was infested. My opinion, these don't look like the same type of mites just because of the fact that they are on the eyes of these polyrhachis ants. As far as I remember, that wasn't really the case with the Golden Empire.
Simple solution for this kind of situation: Put Sum stuff on the windows that will deflect the ant's great escape
since their ghasters look a bit like silver call them the Knights cause they live in the dragon skull and knights kill dragons
They should be The Blacksmiths cause of their metallic coloring of gold silver and iron and the dragon home gives it another medieval feel too so it'd be medieval vibe not to mention the moat
or "The Dragon's Hoard" could be cool.

Silver dragons is better name for these ants because of the silver stripe. I believe the black dragons are outside in your garden still so you can't use there name again.

You could name them the Silver Dragons, Gold Dragons, or something with the (something) dragons in honor of our loved Black Dragons. If these ants do pass, maybe try trap jaws? I miss them
