- Fire ants vs. Bird-Eater Tarantula: It sounds like the battle of the century, right? Well, this video is not what you're thinking. In fact, what happened when two fierce creatures come face to face will astound you, and to the best of my knowledge, I'm certain nothing like this has ever been filmed before! You will see what I mean by the end of this video. Both sides put up a fight and the entire situation shook up the entire Antiverse (my Ant Room). Even I was left scarred from the ordeal! I watched a group of ants cooperatively carry a dragon fly carcass up the side of a building about two feet to a hole I assume led to their home. It was fascinating because their meal was way too large to fit in the entrance. The group tried multiple angles without success. They then brought it down the wall and took the dragonfly apart and started back up the wall. It must have taken fifty ants for each piece. Again though the pieces were too big. It was fascinating watching them try every angle before coming back down the wall to divide it further. I had to go to class but I'm sure they succeeded in the end. Amazing creatures.
It's... It's so emotional 😢. BTW long ago, I did not like ants at all. But after stumbling upon your channel I started to love ants, I even caught a true queen! but it died (it was in my yard). However a few weeks later we happened to go somewhere to pick blueberries and when we were there this HUGE ant nest was having their mating season! They were the type of ants who live in wood, I even saw a queen ant being fertilized by a male ant 2 or 3 times AND I saw a queen ant braking its wings off! But I did didn't have a container to keep them in. WOW!

When Cleaning new world Tarantula enclosures, its better to throw away the substrate, torch for 1-3 seconds all the rocks, logs, and stuff you want to re-use inside its enclosure then wash everything with soap and vinegar. Those Lasiodora hairs are nasty. To remove the hairs stuck on your skinp place school glue (elmer's) on the affected part, let it dry then pull. Sorry for your loss man.

@@AntsCanada whoa you actually replied man! I wasn't expecting lol. Anyways, what I do is I place glue on the itchy parts, let it dry then pull. Putting tape won't do if you've already scratched the area since the barbs are already deep in your skin. That glue treatment should remove most of the hairs and I'd ask the doctor for an antihistamine to alleviate the itchy feeling. Hope it helps!
Duck Tape works great too! i use that for if I get pricked by a cactus.
Yes a strong antihistamine will help with the itching. I used extra strength claritin and it helped.

Tarantulas have Urticating hairs that are essentially barbed spears that stab into things. That death ball was probably them attacking the hairs stuck in them. It's one of tarantulas defense mechanisms.

@@AntsCanada if you decide to get another tarantula, try establishing a form of communication with it. i wanna see someone test how smart tarantulas really are. and i think you would be the best person to try an experiment like this. i recommend one that is docile, such as a Grammastola Rosea, or Brachypelma Hamorii.
@@Isaac_Shepard: I've read from.spider keepers that tarantulas seem to have more personality than most spiders, with more variance than you think. So it would be interesting to see someone actually to actually run some tests on how much thinking they actually do.
