I Fed A Raw Chicken Foot to My Fire Ant Colony

  • My pet fire ant colony, named the Crimson Knights, has grown so big now, I felt it was time to give them their first taste of meat: a raw chicken foot. The fire ants loved their new protein-rich meal, and watching them break it down was an incredible process. However, what was most surprising was what I discovered when I peeked into their nest after feeding them. Hope you enjoy this week's ant feeding video. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution. #FireAnts

One day at work, a buddy of mine was going for a break outside and he saw a trail of ants going in and out of a glue trap that pest control put just inside the building near the door. The little bastards were putting small grains of sand to form a road over the glue in the trap. A road. A paved one. Respect.

    I remember discovering your channel around the time when you introduced us to the Fire Nation and just acquired the Yellow Crazy Ants, The Golden Empire? or Kingdom?... (I can't quite recall). Anyway, during that period, I found ants intriguing, even though I didn't knew much about them. Your channel became my primary source for learning more about these little heroes, and it also helped me improve my English skills. Thank you for that. ^^ (I even remember that I translated a significant portion of the subtitles into my native language for one of your videos.) Around the time you uploaded videos about your Vivarium life unfortunately became busy, and I completely lost track of your channel. Fortunately, this video was recommended to me again, and I immediately had to watch it.

    While I love the energy and charisma you have for you various colonies. This video churned a lot of emotion in me. Some 35+ years ago, as a young child, I had the unfortunate experience of stepping on a fire ant hill. And proved to be very allergic to their sting. My foot and ankle quickly swelled to at least 3times it's normal size, and even though very medicated, I had trouble breathing. To the point I had to miss school for over a week. The distant memory of the pain, still deters me from various yard work activities, and now as a father, I worry about my kids, and their explorations and adventuring in the yard. Kids will be kids, and yes, some lessons need to be learned the hard way. So what happens, will happen... but I can still be fearful. But every coin has two sides... I do also remember having an ant farm in one of my elementary class rooms, and I remember being enamored by it. So should my child ever take an interest, I will likely reach out to AntsCanada for equipment and resources to help foster my kids interest... Even if it makes my skin crawl. So please keep the content coming!

      @@BedrockBoiYT if cooked "correctly" really good. I cook them Chinese style (like Dim Sum and sometimes finish them off with light frying) and if you do it that way all the tendons etc breakdown into like a gelatin thing. You just bite onto it and suck. All the meat/tendons get sucked up off the bones which you just spit out afterwards.
      It tastes like roasted chicken skin but more intense.
      I've also had "Central band African style" done by some mates who moved over from Nigeria, Gambia, Uganda and won't lie I wasn't a fan. As they blanch it to clean then rub on spices and then just grill them. So the tendons etc didn't break down so you're just crunching through a mass of cartilage with not a lot of flavour.
      My mate said it was pretty much the same when he was in Papua New Guinea just without the spices and found it pretty grim so was scared to try the ones I did. Though fell in love with them when he did try the ones I did 🤣

    It’s crazy how the Crimson Knights have already begun producing alates! As far as what to do, I would say nothing accept make sure all windows are closed during their nuptial flight so there is no way the alates can escape and populate your yard with invasive fire ants. I would also suggest to find and capture as many alates as you can in your house and humanly euthanize them or feed them to other separate colonies. If I recall correctly in your past videos the nuptial flight for your fire ants was very beneficial for your other ant colonies as the alates that fell into their enclosures provided them with a natural source of food. My only concern is a fire ant colony being established in one of your ant terrariums, tho I see this as being unlikely as a starting queen would surly be found and eaten by the resident ant colony. Plus it is also very unlikely a queen alate would even be fertilized as their should be no way other outside male alates would even be able to get into your Ant House. But as we all know ants are very unpredictable and adaptable so just be prepared and be extra careful when the nuptial flight happens. Other than that I’d say you should have nothing to worry about AC. Ant Love Forever! 🐜❤️

      @fantasystaplesuwu1554 Před 10 měsíci +3

      They can't crossbreed. No new fire-ant colonies will form unless there is a different fire-ant queen nearby, which is highly unlikely.

    I managed to find an outlet for the ant information you have taught me over the years when waiting for the boat this weekend. While waiting outside the car the whole ferry terminal got caught in a nuptial flight and I had to close the car windows to not have a car filled with ant.
    One of the girls working there didn't know that they were ants or that the queens would drop their wings once mated. She found it quite fascinating when I told her about it.
