- Let's talk about how Bulova Stole Designs from Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Cartier. Best part is, they totally got away with all of it.

Rolex did file a lawsuit against Bulova for the rip off of the Day-Date and DateJust. The original Bulova copies actually used the name DAY-DATE and DATEJUST on the dials of the copies. They soon changed to the DAY & DATE and CALENDER. Rolex allowed them to sell the remaining inventory but then they had to cease production.
That is great to hear! We couldn’t find that information anywhere but this is really cool to know!
I wonder if something similiar occurred with the Orient President. They're relatively uncommon, no longer made and sell for relatively high prices.
I own two of their Day dates. It’s really a good homage in stainless steel. Especially if you’re not sure how you like the fit and feel in 36, but one before dropping 20k on a Rolex.
Dont forget that other big brands did this to. Rolex ripping of Seiko's automatic chronograph 1969. Rolex ripping of Blancpain 50 fathoms 1953 etc, etc.
Bit confusing on the timeline you’re explaining. The Bulova Royal Oak was early 80s.
You are correct, they were released in ‘79. We didn’t acknowledge that in our video
I like certain types of Bulova watches. Just ordered a “Jet Star” Precisionist in a two tone gold dial. What about all these China Homage watches?
Dark days of Bulova thank God we are passed that
Lots of seikos did this too. I guess if it looks great hey! Why not try to copy but get there are lots of issues with it
Every Bulova is a rip bc they use base line Miyota movements and charge 6-7 hundred?
Of course, maybe Oak , Rolex and Cartier are the rip-offs?
Bulova is the Robin Hood of the watch industry!
Have you ever seen the 1969 Bulova Oceanographer 333 it has a 10k solid gold bezel stainless steel case about 35mm with a date looks real close to date just.
It's amazing to finaly find some more Information. I owned two fully golden Super Seville Day Dates. These models are very interesting, you can find a huge variety of dialcolors and case materials.
What I find very mysteries is, that you can even find GMTs, Subs and daytona opies from Bulova. But I am not quite sure if these are official or replica Rolex with the Bulova Name on it .
Yeah it’s a tricky game with these Bulova homages
All these coloured dials are not originals but new asians re-manufactured ones so they are a copy of the copy. 🤨
I wish Bulova would rip off their own designs and release an updated stepped case art deco style watch, sized for modern sensibilities. Love the look of those vintage watches but they're so small as to be unwearable
I 100% agree and when they do reissues they don’t do it right in my opinion
Take a look at the Bulova Sinatra line..thats about as close as you will find to the old vintage pieces. I myself just got used to the old pieces and wear them proudly.
@@tangenarms7570 but they write Sinatra on it...too many words violate the vintage spirit...the pt would be to have the Sinatra watch without branding it
SO DNT BUY IT! 🤣 DUDE UR SO AFFECTED 🤣🤣 EVERYONE? 😆😆
The watch is a fun piece of the history of horology nonetheless
Bulova all day
Rip off ? Hmm I guess you like that word
You think people are using these movements in more high quality aftermarket cases. Cause now I do.
If you’re talking about the ETA movement, yes, the ETA movements have always been popular to use with modded and aftermarket watches
Could we with your reasoning that Bulova ripped off AP down to the octagon crown, say for example that AP ripped off Omega with their Constellation octagon crown?
Many others might have used that style of crown as well, that I’m unaware of.
Regarding Mr. Genta and the integrated bracelet first with AP then with Patek etc, could someone state that he stole the idea of the integrated bracelet from the Tissot PR516 which was released a couple of years before?
Just sharing random thoughts 🤷🏻♂️🙌🏼
Those are all design elements but the Bulova Royal Oak itself is a one off of the AP Royal Oak. Taking ideas from other objects is what all brands and creators do. What Bulova did here was take an idea and completely just copy and paste it.
👍
But in a good way!
Subjective haha
daam Bulova
i am pissed as I own a bulova 50th pilot.
Nonetheless I think bulova has some awesome watches! Including the pilot
Bulova rolix date tame how much
How do you figure bulova is a small company? It has a great heritage and history. Rip off? I'm really disappointed in you. What about all the military dirty dozens? Unreal.
Are Lee jeans and wrangler rip off of each other ? Silly video. You must alot of spare time on your hands. So then Cyma and Sandoz are rip offs too.
This guy sounds so depressing, who cares
