NO. Here the best man is more the friend who really is your right hand regarding the wedding, organises the bachelor party and helps eith wedding organisation and keeps you psychologically stabel on who is your emotional support during the whole process.

I am the granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors, and my one remaining grandmother, who is soon to turn 100, is a survivor of Auschwitz. I hate to say this, but I think he’s making up the story of the Holocaust survivor. First, Auschwitz is in Poland, not Germany, and very few survivors returned to Germany after the war. Second, Germany was where the Nazis rounded up Jews and transported them, but they didn’t really have torture centers or concentration camps in Berlin. And finally, the man who reveals every detail about every person’s story has *nothing* to say about this alleged survivor’s life? Does not compute.

You’re so right. Harry is a cluster of the parts of ourselves we don’t like or want to acknowledge. He’s everybody’s dark side given free reign. The absence of self awareness astounds me every day. I can’t believe he has had all these amazing travels that others spend their lifetime saving for and he thinks nothing of it. He then complains that his dad doesn’t give him money for clothes!
He's how we'd be if we didn't grow as people as we grew up! I think it's so obvious what an amazing job the Palace's did at only showing us the good parts of Harry (look how much they sent him out with Princess Katherine, almost as a 'minder' type thing, knowing they'd get good photo's of him happy and fun etc.). It’s funny really. Harry details horrible slights and agonizing pain he endured that the rest of us have experienced without even a thought. My older sister had the bigger bedroom. My older brother didn’t want me hanging around him and his friends, my parents were distant and had businesses to run, school was hard at times etc. How can he moan on and on about common life experiences?

I follow a different CZcamsr that also did a review. She also pointed out how many of his complaints are just normal experiences for most people growing up. But she pointed out that if Harry admitted that a lot of his experiences are normal then he can't continue pretending to be the most persecuted victim to ever live. And that's the rub. He always has to turn every experience into a story of how victimized he was.

I watched the documentary about the North Pole trip. He explained about the sweating and freezing danger like he was an expert. They trained, were educated, and prepared for the conditions. It’s on tape.

This book feels like Meghan getting ready for a divorce & she was smart for once and got him to write it himself! All she has to do is give the Judge a copy of his book & the video he recently did with the terrible 'Dr." (I don't believe he's an actual doc any more & I'm pretty sure he was a general doc (MD) not someone who specialised in phycology!!! The video is terrible and he tells on himself in for drug use and so much more!!! Oh, the doc he did it with, actually talks about his 'trauma' & how it's shaped who he is today. Guess what his 'trauma' was? When he was 18mths old his mother went on HOLIDAYS for 2weeks and left him at home!!! NOT alone, he had someone caring for him etc., but he says this with a straight face!!! It's amazing!!! lol.

The thing that irk's me the most is how disparaging , ungrateful , & inconsiderate Harry is towards his family. Especially towards his father. Charles has supper at 8 p.m., & regardless of who is there, as soon as he's finished eating, he goes to his office & finishes any work that he has, no matter how long it take's, it must get done. So he has a lot of late night's & early morning's. Despite this, he made sure to take time to say goodnight to his son's, even leaving letter's on the bed for them. I suspect that H "loves" people because they show their love for him. You would think that somewhere in those 400 pages he would have expressed true affection for someone, but the focus seems to be on how affectionately they are treating him. Of course, if this is how he measures love, he will turn on anyone who criticises him or denies him what he wants (=makes him feel bad) and assume they do not love him, and therefore he does not love them. NB! This is what I suspect - it is NOT necessarily how it is.

iirc Charles was 35 when Harry was born. Harry was 34 when Archie was born. But his father was an 'old' dad. His kids are getting a bitter and vindictive father, but I guess that's ok as long as he can get on the floor and play with them. 🙄

Harry just seems like the most EXHAUSTING person to be around. It just kills me how blind he is to his privilege!! Just getting to BE in Westminster Abbey, with all of its history, art, beauty, is a privilege. Being able to go on safari in Africa is a privilege - most Africans will NEVER see a Lion or elephant in their lives because going in safari is too expensive. Never having to worry about making it in your career because your family has the means to provide for you is a privilege. He got special helicopter coaching so he could do his chosen career - privilege. And he just moans about the stuff most of us would give our left kidney for!

Yes, but where in Africa. This generalisation of a continent drives me mad. Botswana for example has excellent education facilities. South Africa is doing okay, Lesotho is very mountainous but the children would not work 12 hours days then go to school. It just escapes any logic at all.
Replacing bad memories is very important to me. When I divorced, I went to places I enjoyed with my ex and created new memories just to help me to move on. Sometimes your brain needs more happy things to remember instead of old ones.
Inquiring minds want to know: Just exactly WHAT has he done "for Africa?" The only thing I see is he uses it fas an exotic background for his stories about himself. I am a retired nurse, and early in my career I worked with an older nurse who had raised a family and could have retired, but continued to work so she could help young students in nursing school. She did everything from financial tuition assistance to a cup of tea or a home cooked meal and conversation for a homesick student. She is responsible for a number of students who succeeded in school and careers because of her. She inspired some of us to do the same.
As a South African, I was APPALLED at the way Harry & Meghan had a real chance on their SA tour to raise awareness of the issues faced by people there, and shine a light on the incredible charities making a huge difference. Instead they made my country a backdrop for their pity party because the press DARED to take photos (at an official royal engagement) and allegedly nobody asked Meghan if she was ok. Well nobody asked the poverty stricken, sexually abused women at the charity they were visiting if they were ok either, the tone-deaf idiots 😒
You always have such good insights about Harry's character flaws. He really does come off badly in all of this. Keep on the sunny side of life a bit, Harry. Sheesh.

Love your commentary. I don’t know how the book is a best seller. Usually in a memoir there is some understanding gained by the author and some hopefulness. People aren’t interested in whiners. What I find the most reprehensible about Harry is the disdain for his family and his willingness to breach their privacy.
People want to read it and people think better of him because they read it are two different things. Honestly the writing she thinks is so bad is the only part I like. It’s his actual sentiments and thought processes that disgust me.

I think that it's sweet that tipsy William wanted to go to the people who were there to celebrate his wedding. William seems appreciative to the people who support their family and traditions while Harry seems to resent them.
Just when I thought the “old” happy Harry was going to shine a light by referring to his dads proud look when he pinned his wings on him and that the look ment more then a hug (which was such a beautiful and mature comment) the new self pitying Harry comes back saying his dad is now to old to play with him. Omgosh, it’s called getting older and your father, son relationship shifts to a man to man relationship with a father. Also not to forget that King Charles is an older dad, he had children later in life and that the King was teaching his son’s at that age (25) how to now be a man, that life isn’t about running in the backyard playing hide n seek when you are a child, Harry is so immature it’s absolutely ridiculous. Royals don't have Best Man at their weddings. They have Supporters, and that can be two or three of William's friends AND a male family member if there is one. Charles had two supporters, Andrew and Edward. At Harry's wedding none of his friends were his supporters because Meghan had already alienated them. Harry's friend Tom Inskip and his wife were only invited to the church, but excluded from the evening reception. Instead they had only the celebrities who Meghan had invited most of whom had no idea who she was. Royal bridegrooms chose whatever military uniform they want. If William wore the Number 1 dress uniform for the Irish Guards, then it was HIS choice. The Queen wouldn't have involved herself in his choice. Also his mother didn't die at Westminster Abbey, nor is she buried there. She was originally buried on the small island in the middle of the lake at Althorpe, a small building like a Greek temple was erected in memoriam. However Diana's body was moved amid fears that it might be desecrated and was buried elsewhere. So Harry's story about him and Meghan visiting her grave prior to their wedding is rubbish, she wasn't there.
Many Christians that are still living in the same area are christened, confirmed, married and buried in the same church, just like their parents. It's the great circle of life and that is something I cherish very much despite not being very religious. I've seen many brides and grooms go and say hello to late family members before their wedding, that's a healthy way to view life (and death)

Once again he never does anything, and probably left thinking “gosh, somebody really should do something to help those kids get to school and get an education”…. I thought same thing as you! Still hasn’t occurred to him, when both he and his warden discuss Africa (even women empowerment) that providing community schools or educational tools to those areas would have been a great cause for them to champion!

Harry has such a negative attitude about everything. Contrary to what Harry says about Westminster Abbey, as a newly minted American university graduate in 1974, I loved seeing such an historical place, & I was very pleased to stand next to the graves of famous poets in the Poets' Corner. I suppose that while Harry goes through life looking at everything if it is a glass half empty, more than a few of us are often very pleased to see life's events as a life half full.

My mum is 55 and she lost her mum when she was 12 to a pretty horrific bus accident, she still to this day is affected & haunted by this. At times she still reverts back to herself at that age (attaching to teddy bears, seeking praised & reassurance etc ). I do feel bad for harry because losing a parent in a tragic way at that age must do something permanent to someone’s mind. It’s like they cannot find closure because a child simply can’t conceptualise it at that age, and even as an adult they still think like they did back then (about the particular trauma) doesn’t excuse the strange behaviours ofcourse but i can empathise
Also, last comment - given there were hundreds of foreign dignitaries & world leaders at William’s wedding, thank GOD they didn’t let Harry loose with the microphone. He’d probably have started an international incident, and thought it was hilarious.

Harry claims the public is remembering Diana's death while they wait for William's wedding. That is Harry trying to make himself feel that he has more of the public's interest and attention than is awarded him as just the groom's brother. Harry is not content to be just another witness to the bridal couple. He needs to see himself as part of the focus so he won't feel invisible. I am the granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors, and my one remaining grandmother, who is soon to turn 100, is a survivor of Auschwitz. I hate to say this, but I think he’s making up the story of the Holocaust survivor. First, Auschwitz is in Poland, not Germany, and very few survivors returned to Germany after the war. Second, Germany was where the Nazis rounded up Jews and transported them, but they didn’t really have torture centers or concentration camps in Berlin. And finally, the man who reveals every detail about every person’s story has *nothing* to say about this alleged survivor’s life? Does not compute.

You’re so right. Harry is a cluster of the parts of ourselves we don’t like or want to acknowledge. He’s everybody’s dark side given free reign. The absence of self awareness astounds me every day. I can’t believe he has had all these amazing travels that others spend their lifetime saving for and he thinks nothing of it. He then complains that his dad doesn’t give him money for clothes!
He's how we'd be if we didn't grow as people as we grew up! I think it's so obvious what an amazing job the Palace's did at only showing us the good parts of Harry (look how much they sent him out with Princess Katherine, almost as a 'minder' type thing, knowing they'd get good photo's of him happy and fun etc.). When Harry met Meghan & thought he knew best & could do everything himself, well he couldn't, he couldn't hide what a insecure, jealous, narcissistic man child!!! It’s funny really. Harry details horrible slights and agonizing pain he endured that the rest of us have experienced without even a thought. My older sister had the bigger bedroom. My older brother didn’t want me hanging around him and his friends, my parents were distant and had businesses to run, school was hard at times etc. How can he moan on and on about common life experiences?

I follow a different CZcamsr that also did a review. She also pointed out how many of his complaints are just normal experiences for most people growing up. But she pointed out that if Harry admitted that a lot of his experiences are normal then he can't continue pretending to be the most persecuted victim to ever live.
And that's the rub. He always has to turn every experience into a story of how victimized he was.

This book feels like Meghan getting ready for a divorce & she was smart for once and got him to write it himself! All she has to do is give the Judge a copy of his book & the video he recently did with the terrible 'Dr." (I don't believe he's an actual doc any more & I'm pretty sure he was a general doc (MD) not someone who specialised in phycology!!! The video is terrible and he tells on himself in for drug use and so much more!!! Oh, the doc he did it with, actually talks about his 'trauma' & how it's shaped who he is today. Guess what his 'trauma' was? When he was 18mths old his mother went on HOLIDAYS for 2weeks and left him at home!!! NOT alone, he had someone caring for him etc., but he says this with a straight face!!! It's amazing!!! lol.

The thing that irk's me the most is how disparaging , ungrateful , & inconsiderate Harry is towards his family. Especially towards his father. He has no appreciation for the fact that as Prince Of Wales, his dad was a very busy man & had to fulfill his duties everyday, whether he felt like it or not. Charles has supper at 8 p.m., & regardless of who is there, as soon as he's finished eating, he goes to his office & finishes any work that he has, no matter how long it take's, it must get done. So he has a lot of late night's & early morning's. Despite this, he made sure to take time to say goodnight to his son's, even leaving letter's on the bed for them. But these thing's don't occur to Sparry
And further that H&M thought being in the spare position was too hard…and he acts as if HE should be the prince of Wales, of co-Prince, and not just William. The frauds of Monticito can’t even work more than 1 hour a week over the last two years and “quit” the RF because it was too hard - yet thinks they deserve the position still! I don't feel his love for his mother, I feel he is using her and has no love for her or maybe contempt for her. I feel Harry's contempt for the RF / monarchy / UK people and many others in this book.
I suspect that H "loves" people because they show their love for him. You would think that somewhere in those 400 pages he would have expressed true affection for someone, but the focus seems to be on how affectionately they are treating him. Of course, if this is how he measures love, he will turn on anyone who criticises him or denies him what he wants (=makes him feel bad) and assume they do not love him, and therefore he does not love them. NB! This is what I suspect - it is NOT necessarily how it is.
And the cream-on-private-parts-story might just be product placement advertising, I think.

Harry just seems like the most EXHAUSTING person to be around. It just kills me how blind he is to his privilege!! Just getting to BE in Westminster Abbey, with all of its history, art, beauty, is a privilege. Being able to go on safari in Africa is a privilege - most Africans will NEVER see a Lion or elephant in their lives because going in safari is too expensive. Never having to worry about making it in your career because your family has the means to provide for you is a privilege. He got special helicopter coaching so he could do his chosen career - privilege. And he just moans about the stuff most of us would give our left kidney for!
Well…while meeting the children in Africa, at least he had a moment of perspective…of realizing just how lucky he was and how great his life truly is. Granted, that lasted all of 30 minutes.
Yes, but where in Africa. This generalisation of a continent drives me mad. Botswana for example has excellent education facilities. South Africa is doing okay, Lesotho is very mountainous but the children would not work 12 hours days then go to school. It just escapes any logic at all.

Inquiring minds want to know: Just exactly WHAT has he done "for Africa?" The only thing I see is he uses it fas an exotic background for his stories about himself. I am a retired nurse, and early in my career I worked with an older nurse who had raised a family and could have retired, but continued to work so she could help young students in nursing school. She did everything from financial tuition assistance to a cup of tea or a home cooked meal and conversation for a homesick student. She is responsible for a number of students who succeeded in school and careers because of her. She inspired some of us to do the same.
As a South African, I was APPALLED at the way Harry & Meghan had a real chance on their SA tour to raise awareness of the issues faced by people there, and shine a light on the incredible charities making a huge difference. Instead they made my country a backdrop for their pity party because the press DARED to take photos (at an official royal engagement) and allegedly nobody asked Meghan if she was ok. Well nobody asked the poverty stricken, sexually abused women at the charity they were visiting if they were ok either, the tone-deaf idiots 😒
You always have such good insights about Harry's character flaws. He really does come off badly in all of this. Keep on the sunny side of life a bit, Harry. Sheesh.

Love your commentary. I don’t know how the book is a best seller. Usually in a memoir there is some understanding gained by the author and some hopefulness. People aren’t interested in whiners. What I find the most reprehensible about Harry is the disdain for his family and his willingness to breach their privacy.
I think it’s because it’s so sensationalized and today people want a reality style gossip session like book. It’s horrible I agree. 😊
People want to read it and people think better of him because they read it are two different things. Honestly the writing she thinks is so bad is the only part I like. It’s his actual sentiments and thought processes that disgust me.

I think that it's sweet that tipsy William wanted to go to the people who were there to celebrate his wedding.
William seems appreciative to the people who support their family and traditions while Harry seems to resent them.
Just when I thought the “old” happy Harry was going to shine a light by referring to his dads proud look when he pinned his wings on him and that the look ment more then a hug (which was such a beautiful and mature comment) the new self pitying Harry comes back saying his dad is now to old to play with him.
Omgosh, it’s called getting older and your father, son relationship shifts to a man to man relationship with a father.

Royals don't have Best Man at their weddings. They have Supporters, and that can be two or three of William's friends AND a male family member if there is one. Charles had two supporters, Andrew and Edward.
At Harry's wedding none of his friends were his supporters because Meghan had already alienated them. Harry's friend Tom Inskip and his wife were only invited to the church, but excluded from the evening reception. Instead they had only the celebrities who Meghan had invited most of whom had no idea who she was.
Royal bridegrooms chose whatever military uniform they want. If William wore the Number 1 dress uniform for the Irish Guards, then it was HIS choice. The Queen wouldn't have involved herself in his choice.
Also his mother didn't die at Westminster Abbey, nor is she buried there. She was originally buried on the small island in the middle of the lake at Althorpe, a small building like a Greek temple was erected in memoriam. However Diana's body was moved amid fears that it might be desecrated and was buried elsewhere. So Harry's story about him and Meghan visiting her grave prior to their wedding is rubbish, she wasn't there.
This book should be classified as fiction.. after following the royals for decades, seems like he just rewrote his whole life..

Many Christians that are still living in the same area are christened, confirmed, married and buried in the same church, just like their parents. It's the great circle of life and that is something I cherish very much despite not being very religious. I've seen many brides and grooms go and say hello to late family members before their wedding, that's a healthy way to view life (and death)

Or transportation to the schools or both! I thought the same exact thing! Or ways to provide more school supplies! Something! But he reflects so deeply - then returns to his palace and his petulance instead of doing something for those boys, he returns to his kingdom and just forgets the tragedy. Once again he never does anything, and probably left thinking “gosh, somebody really should do something to help those kids get to school and get an education”….
I thought same thing as you! Still hasn’t occurred to him, when both he and his warden discuss Africa (even women empowerment) that providing community schools or educational tools to those areas would have been a great cause for them to champion!

Harry has such a negative attitude about everything. Contrary to what Harry says about Westminster Abbey, as a newly minted American university graduate in 1974, I loved seeing such an historical place, & I was very pleased to stand next to the graves of famous poets in the Poets' Corner. I suppose that while Harry goes through life looking at everything if it is a glass half empty, more than a few of us are often very pleased to see life's events as a life half full.

My mum is 55 and she lost her mum when she was 12 to a pretty horrific bus accident, she still to this day is affected & haunted by this. At times she still reverts back to herself at that age (attaching to teddy bears, seeking praised & reassurance etc ). I do feel bad for harry because losing a parent in a tragic way at that age must do something permanent to someone’s mind. It’s like they cannot find closure because a child simply can’t conceptualise it at that age, and even as an adult they still think like they did back then (about the particular trauma) doesn’t excuse the strange behaviours ofcourse but i can empathise

Harry claims the public is remembering Diana's death while they wait for William's wedding. That is Harry trying to make himself feel that he has more of the public's interest and attention than is awarded him as just the groom's brother. Harry is not content to be just another witness to the bridal couple. He needs to see himself as part of the focus so he won't feel invisible. Harry is the center of his universe and he requires consensus on that opinion from everyone else.
He got provisional wings in 2010, became qualified pilot three years after. The situation is akin to graduating from law school. You graduate, but until you pass the bar, you don't practice.

Yes, he may well be a mixture of all those negatives we see in ourselves. The difference is that most people can recognise it’s our own thoughts, that we can make an effort to change our perspectives and we don’t all blame other people for everything, ie we choose not to be victims. In addition, we don’t use a public forum to trash, embarrass and ridicule others (including our families) for money
