For a home builder R&R gamer who fancies themselves a Tech this may be okay for you, not for someone who's reputation is on the line recommending poorly built, purposely sabotaged equipment. Yes you are a Fanboi and your constant crying in their favor is why people get tricked into buying their crap. Yes CRAP! Backwards installed componernts that fry CPU's, insanely overclocked default settings designed to fry your System, the list goes on. Heck even had Caps blow on ROG crap within 2 weeks because of over voltage issues in their BIOS from the factory, so called factory optimized defaults.
      If you owned a business you would understand how consumers operate. When it's good all you hear is crickets, 1 tiny issue and the calls come flooding in and word of mouth spreads. It's on you to prevent negative backlash by providing great service and reliability, not the consumers to be quiet when you purposely screw their systems then refuse to work the issue.

      I haven't built a PC in a very long time. My computer is so old, it was made when ASUS was considered a top manufacturer, with the most reliable consumer level motherboards. It's really sad.
      Computer technology hasn't improved enough in recent years to be worth building a new PC like it was before. I remember going from an AMD Venice 3000+ in 2005 that did 2.4 GHz to an opteron 165 that was easily overclockable in 2007 and my CPUbenchmark score more than doubled!
      Almost a decade after I built the two PCs I used for all my video editing & recording at work and home... I still have to pay over $500 to get double the 30,000 cpubenchmark score I get on my old computer I built!!! I have an 18000 GPUbenchmark score with a GPU that cost a & 30000 CPU benchmark score. YEARS later, GPU that gets double what this one does costs almost $2000.
      For most average person uses, a ten year old PC is more than enough. I can render with nvidia hardware encoder set to high quality, slow, etc, at faster than realtime, I can stream with quality settings & record with crf=5, preset=fast, g=1, keyint=1 1080p60 without touching even 25% CPU, it boots instantly. Given how shitty most manufacturers are now,I will likely be keeping this for a long time.

I asked them to change it to leave at residence after speaking to FedEx who told me I have to ask ASUS to change it. I called Asus and they told me it would take 3 business days for the request to be processed. After three failed attempts FedEx policy is to send the package back to the manufacturer.

They gave me an estimate of more than the cost of the tablet to repair, in spite of the warranty. And to add insult to injury - asked if I wanted them to dispose it, if I did not want to pay! I said, ship it back to me unrepaired and swore never to buy ASUS again! Avoid this brand like the plague!!

They announced they'd repair such defects for free even if the device was out of warranty, which mine was. So I sent it to a nearby authorized repair centre.
    The repair centre told me that because of minor cosmetic damage, and a bloated battery (caused by the defect), they not only wouldn't repair it, but wanted me to pay to send it back un-repaired!

      I got an Asus x470 gaming-f board in a package when the 2700x was new, and so far it's working fine, including a straight cpu ripped from the socket after I removed the cooler (cpu was also fine), and I have replaced that with a 5800x3D. Asus used to be good quality for both products and customer service, so their higher price was often fine. Now, not so much. I will go out of my way to not get an Asus product in the future because I don't like the bullshit they are doing.

    Older joysticks had stick drift, the ones that didn't, eventually lost tension and had issues centering. The reason it wasn't felt as much is because even though they had the same stick drift issues, the deadzones were often bigger then they are on modern controllers.
    That said. Stick drift is a solved problem. We have hall effect sticks that literally don't have this issue because they are totally contact-less. Why companies don't use them? They are technically less accurate then a very high quality potentiometer sticks, however are significantly more durable. The big companies making controllers don't use high quality potentiometers in the first place, they use average at best ones, so they're not actually more accurate then hall effects.
    So you can guess why a company who sells game consoles, like sony, would sell their controller at $70, with an inferior analog stick that has a substantially lower durability. I'd love to hear some reasons that aren't strictly malicious.
    For the record, my Vader 3 Pro has Optical switches and hall effect, and can be obtained for half the price of a sony controller. It is not "cost of components" that is the issue here.

    • @uponeric36
      @uponeric36 Před 9 dny +1

      The reason is planned obsolescence. Hal effect is not more expensive than potentiometer. Look at Gulikit and Candycon. Both use Hal effect and are the same price or cheaper than first party controllers.
      Console manufactures were hoping that after years of shit like rock candy or madcatz that the association of "3rd party = shit controller" would carry over into the modern era but they shot themselves in the foot because now it's the opposite. Don't buy a controller with a potentiometer; they're worthless. Always avoid first party.

    • @Sevicify
      @Sevicify Před 8 dny

      I'm tired of people saying that hall effect sticks can't have drift issues, they certainly can if the central range the stick returns to degrades enough over time (eg: due to weakened tension) to exceed that of the deadzone. I have a DualShock 3 controller with hall effect sticks that I just recently tested 10 days ago and both sticks return within a -3.5% to 3.5% range around the centre point and will sometimes have a 1% jitter while sitting still, after opening the controller and giving it a simple clean lowered this range to 3% and it jitters slightly less often. The X axis of right stick however can reach an extreme of up to +5.8%. This range thankfully isn't enough to cause drift with default deadzones, I don't know the DZ for PS3 but on PC with Steam for example gives a 30% default (not sure why so high, gives my PS4 a 12.5%) with a minimum limit of 6.1% (the extreme of the right stick would still stay just within this) while DS4Windows gives an 8% default with no minimum limit. So while I have no drift it does show the potential for it depending on how severe the degradation is and how low the DZ is configured by the software being used.
      For a comparison my PS4 controller shows a similar 3.5% range and 1% jitter to the PS3 controller, however it does reach a higher extreme on the right stick X axis of up around +8%. I don't have any drift on the PS4 itself or on PC with Steam with its default 12.5% DZ but I do get slight drift with DS4Windows at its 8% default.

    • @uponeric36
      @uponeric36 Před 8 dny

      @@Sevicify The difference is that the drift of Hal effect is limited to jitter from the stick loosening, which realistically can be corrected by deadzones and likely won't have to go far beyond 10% in a life time of use; while a potentiometer will eventually grind itself to dust regardless of deadzone setting.
      It's possible to drift sure, but you probably won't ever experience it with deadzones made for potentiometer sticks even after years of use (IE every single console with a joystick ever)

So I called Samsung service and found out the warranty means they charge you to visit, the parts, and the labor. Since it was obvious the washer was doomed to flood again I just threw it out. Later Samsung was class action sued for making flooding washers. They gave the suing lawyers a bunch of money to go away and sent us owners a sticker to put around the control knob. Two thirds of the settings were gone, presumably the flood settings, and we were instructed to only point the knob where the lines remained. ASUS needs to learn from Samsung on how to properly defeat a factory warranty.

It would be stuck on error codes mid wash and not even let me open the door so half my closet has rot up due to it been sitting in water for days because the technician wasn't able to come for 14 days(!!!) The guy came, and I mean two guys came. They "repaired" the washer and used 4 hours. I was sent a mail where I had to pay close to 300$ for them to come to my home. In our emails back and forth I wouldn't have had to pay if I SENT the machine, which according to them still wouldn't be covered by them which also would cost close to the same price due to it's size(?!)
      The washer broke down again, another error code, door still locked and my all my towels stuck in there. Called Samsung again really furious and said I wanted my money back, and they refuse because they have 3 chances to fix it. Fortunately for me, in Norway we have a company called "Elesco" which is an independent company that gives everyone a 5-year warranty on every appliances and will repair it without ANY hassle. They looked at it and told me nothing was repaired the last time, and a hose inside the machine was loose and not tightened so it kept getting loose inside the machine.
      Don't get me started on my ongoing Smart TV SAMSUNG 55" which gave me Super Mario-like transparent clouds on the entire screen the first time I turned it on. Unfortunately Elesco doesn't cover these types of stuff and I'm having an ongoing battle with Samsung. The screen works, but there are these kinda looking "Burnt in clouds". Samsung literally sent my TV back the first time claiming the screen works and told me to visit my local HW store to get it color corrected (!!??) A lawyer is looking like the only option right now.

    I've filed at least three complaints to the FTC and my states Attorney General about Dell, Apple, and someone else refusing to comply with the law attempting to assert those stickers or some other nonsensical invalid argument to deny repair in my life as a professional IT person. It's astonishing when they try and pull this crap, but it's not all that uncommon sadly. I hear it ALL THE TIME from end users, usually they back down when I bring up the law, and start explaining in specific detail how their non-compliance can get their employer fined or prospected. Sometimes they don't though.

    Imagine your new car, barely any miles on it, is having engine trouble. The dealership arranges for pickup. A week later they call and explain the repair isn't warrantable due to pop found spilled in the center console. As the car is no longer under warranty it will be $700 to fix the engine and another $100 to deliver the vehicle back. The shop manager explains If the repair isn't paid for within three days you are on the hook to either pick up your car parts, or you will be billed for a flatbed delivery, as the engine and drive train, removed for diagnosis, will not be reinstalled due to lack of warranty coverage.

      N64 controller is not breaking per say. It's a design flaw that makes the joystick really loose over time - especially after long sessions of joystick spinning in Mario Party 1. Even when loose, they still technically work but at a fraction of what they should. Otherwise? It's a really solid controller and well built. If you know why the joystick gets loose, you'll most likely take of it more.
      Btw. The Wireless N64 controller for NSO does not have the exact same mechanism under the hood despite looking the same. So, it might not have the issue in the long run. (I've been told that by a N64 controller modder, looking to create replacements for the original corded controllers).

    A couple of years ago I bought parts to build a machine. This is when I found out how much WD has fallen as a company. Bought a WD hard drive. Within a week it was dying. Contacted both Amazon and WD both told me the exact same thing. They would take it back, send me a replacement (the replacement was a refurbished HD) but they would have to charge me a restocking fee.
    When I asked if they were going to restock this clicking, dying hard drive, and sell it to somebody else... the answer was 'yes'
    Disgusting.
    And between the issues with the ASUS monitor (a weird and widely known issue with their monitors that suddenly drops input and requires you to drain power from it and replug it to be able to get it to work again) and now this issue of your video.... itll be the last ASUS product I buy.
