Great video! I just removed the blower motor, extracted the broken off door amd put the motor back in. It seems like it will be just fine, for me at least, without the thing in there! 🙂
Does the AC dial need to be set in a certain spot when you reinstall the actuator? Or does it just matter where the blend door and thw actiaryor gears are lined up. Im only getting semi cool air right now. I also did take th batteries off or turn ignition 20 times like the manual said. Plan on doing that tom.
How do I replace my blower motor on my 2000 dodge ram diesel 2500? Also idk wat vaccume lines go to where. Their different colors under the dashboard they activate different doors! Help!
Does the same thing go for a 2001 dodge rema 2500 5.9 gas?
now can i just install a knob like a cabinet knob so it becomes a manual and problem solved?
Any suggestions or advice about the '95? I have a LeBaron GTC convertible, blend door stuck closed.
Never worked on one, but start simple if it’s vacuum operated check for leaks or dry rotted hoses, see if you can push the actuator by hand. If it’s electronic take the actuator off and turn your blend switch back and forth and see if the actuator works at all.
Nice
This actuator must be in a different location for the gas motor trucks
I have a 97 and 98 gas motor and the actuator is not located like your Cummins is????
My '98 gasser(diesel conversion) is the same as my '94 diesel was. It doesn't have one either. It's mechanical.
Is the actuator in a different location because your truck is a diesel?
I have a 97 and 98 gas motor and the actuator is not located like yours????
should be the same
Earlier years had a cable ontop of heater box remove glove box and can go in and manually select
For a temp fix could you just turn by hand to set to one temp? Mine is stuck on heat 2001 dodge Dakota. Need on cold
It would be hard to turn by hand due to the gears unless they are all broke.
I know this is old but I thought I'd respond anyway. I have a Dodge Roadtrek 190 Popular. It's built on a Dodge B3500 van. My blend door actuator doesn't function, BUT...I can turn it one way in the winter to get super hot heat. Then, in the summer, I flip the actuator the opposite way, and the heat stops coming in (or at least partially so).
My problem is that the AC blows barely cool air rather than cold. The AC system has been fully checked and recharged. The line gets freezing cold but the air into the cab is blowing barely cool.
That's my problem, but I wanted to answer your question by noting that YES, you CAN just turn the actuator by hand. My actuator is accessed by removing the glove box. Very easy to turn by hand. (Unfortunately for me, in summer it must not close the blend door effectively enough because it seems some heat must still be getting through. But that may not be a problem for you.) Good luck!
will a new actuator control module fix this issue ? I found an after market for $30.00 . I can't tell what exactly was replaced but it looks like a new module would fix the issue .
Nope I pulled mine out 4 years ago and it happened again this week
I have a 95 12V with the same problem, vacuum is good, I had the condensation hose problem as well, thought it was a window/door leak it drove me nuts till I found the problem, anyway..is the blend door actuator located passenger side under the dash? also can I buy that an entirely new actuator, Thanks
Yea you can get an actuator but it’s usually just the plastic collar that’s broke. Heater treater fixes that. And it is located under the passenger side of dash.
Nice work! 👏
Would this cause the ac compressor not to kick on, mines stuck on heat and when I turn the ac on the compressor doesn’t come on
No this has no control over the ac compressor. That is controlled by your mode switch, this is for the blend door.
Where in the world do you get one of those broken / cracked plastic suckers ? ( Help Thanks GD )

So what you replaced, was that little plastic piece?
With the gears, did you line them up?
Did the metal tube go over the plastic piece ?
Little lost.
The heater treater mod replaces the inner plastic collar with a metal one.
my 99 dodge cummins only works on defrosters and will shut off but any other setting wont work has new hvac module and vacuum lines are good any idea on what it could be?
Is the blend door actuator working?
@@AutomedicGarage im not sure how can i check to make sure its working properly?
@@klarkpeterson6125 with the key on change your mode and listen and feel on the actuator. Then remove it so the same thing with it removed but plugged in. If you feel/hear clicking or it does nothing that’s where your problem is. When you remove it it will have a plastic bushing/connector that engages it with the shaft of the blend door. More often than not that plastic piece is broken. That’s where the heater treater mod comes in. Hope that helps.
What did you line the dot with on the top gear
Man it’s been years since I’ve done another heater treater on a Cummins, I honestly done remember but I do remember they had good instructions telling you what to do.
Dude how do u turn recirculation on a Dakota 2001 doesn’t have a button for it
Not sure on a Dakota....I’m mainly just work on 1/2 tons and bigger.
Hello, great video. Good tips. I came across it in my research lol. I have a 2000 1500 ram 5.2. When the a/c or heat are on the front vents, the driver side blows significantly harder than the 2 passenger side vents. Doesn’t make a difference if heat or a/c. Everything is clear , nothing blocking it. Blower motor sounds strong. Only strange thing I notice is when on Max a/c (or regular ac or even vent heat) it comes out the vents AND the floor. Is this normal? You’d think max a/c would be top vents only. Thank you
Max ac is only different from ac because it pull air from inside cab, that’s why it blows harder also.
@@AutomedicGarage thank you for reply. My next question would when it’s on a/c or max a/c is it supposed to blow out floor vents also? I thought it was only supposed to come out the front facing vents
@@bsrob1 ac is only on vents not floor. Your nose door must be stopping at the floor and vent combo selection
@@AutomedicGarage is this door easy to get to to replace? I’d say that’s where some of my passenger side vent volume is going if the door you speak of is stopping at vent and floor
Where does one get the kit to fix it
Heatertreater.com
Mine was cracked as well. Not sure if this is my issue. Not sure how it could be but every time I hit the brakes hard I hear a pop and my ac shut off
Door was flopping around in there probably
Hey I am having the same issue did you ever resolve your issue
@bgy1591
@@russellcarroll6661 yes and I also had a leak and was low on refrigerant but I believe this was what was causing the popping sound and causing it to turn to hot
Great I’m gonna give it a go thanks !
Can that blend door being broken cause the A/C on my 02 Cummins to only blow from the floor?
No, that would be your mode door
@@AutomedicGarage Or a vacuum leak if it doesnt change vent positions
@@Tempsho I wasn’t insinuating it couldnt be a vacuum leak. The point it if it’s only blowing in one location it’s something to do with the mode door meaning the door itself, controls, vacuum leak, etc.
@@AutomedicGarage all good, I was just trying to add a bit more to your comment. Some people don’t realize that in some vehicles, the vent position is controlled by vacuum and that it defaults to the floor/vent position if there’s a vacuum leak.
What was it?
This helped me way better and easier better then the other shit the other people posted
I try to help all I can. Thanks for the comment. Subscribe and keep watching our stuff. Thanks
Where do you get the upgrade at?

@@AutomedicGarage the link does not go to anything like what you described...
@@dglsrllr did you click on the link in the description? It works for me goes directly to their website. Go to the menus then and select the correct make and model your looking for.
I’m only getting Ac to blow on my front window defrost not my front
Your mode door is stuck on defrost then.
@@AutomedicGarage do you have a video for mode door, what actuates the mode door
That would be your mode actuator
I do not currently have a video for a mode door actuator problem
Do you know where is the mode door actuator located? I just replaced the blend door actuator which fixed my heat and AC but the mode is stuck in defrost and feet area and wont change to anything else
Was that a racing drain tube you installed?
Ben White it sure is
Hey I can’t find the kit with the stud
I haven’t done one of these in awhile. I hope they didn’t quit making them.

So what do I fix if I don’t have an electric actuator ?
Is yours on a 1500 gas burner?
@@AutomedicGarage yep
@@dannyclark9820 I wish I had a good answer for you but the only dodges I work on are the Cummins but I’m assuming you have vacuum operated blend and mode doors and you more than likely have a vacuum leak/problem.
@@AutomedicGarage thank you I’ll keep digging
The older trucks 98.5 and below have a cable ontop of heater box remove glove box (if dash is still in tact) and can select manually
I have a 97 dodge and I can't find that box
In my 98 it's located behind the glove box. Glove box has three screws at the very bottom and pops right out.
Anyone ever tell you that you sound like Hank Hill 😂
@@ronnie_howard oh yea, if you look through a lot of our comments you see that a lot. Doesn’t really sound like a insult to me cause I loved that show.
@@AutomedicGarage I didn't mean it as an insult, I love King of the Hill too :)
@@ronnie_howard I wasn’t saying you did, I’m good with it.
Tip the vent doors not opening up
This is for the blend door, not the mode door. Vent is activated by the mode actuator.
I do t think this fix applies to the 97 Dodge Ram with the Cummins, all mine are vacuum motors
Is that 99% of the issues with the blend door, a broken collar?
If you hear clicking or popping it more than likely is
@@AutomedicGarage I looked at mine and it would help if there was an actuator installed. 😵💫
@@WilliamKruger-gc7ox that would def help
I don't even have that on my truck?
Yea, it’s only on the Cummins sry
Where's the diesel getting vacuum
The Cummins has a gear driven vacuum pump on driver side of motor
Mines manual with a cable on top
Same here. But the blend door doesn't seem to close all the way in the summer. I've got GREAT heat when I open the door, but when I close it for AC in summer, I get barely cool air coming through. AC system thoroughly checked and working.
You didn’t explain lining the gears up for shit
I didn’t know I needed to explain something that’s self explanatory. People like yourself that get on here and leave ridiculous comments trip me out. Thanks
@@AutomedicGarage is there one dot, 5 dots? Where do they need to be lined up?
@@WilliamKruger-gc7ox this video has been up for years and your the first person to cry about it. Congratulations for being the first. This is about as straight forward as it gets. The shaft in the actuator is clocked. It can only fit in the blend door one way. What else do you want. Me to come fix it for you?
@@AutomedicGarage well guess what. I never had to worry about fixing my actuator issue until now. Actually, the past 27 years I never worried about it.
Perhaps you should’ve mentioned it’s a one way fit.
BTW, there’s a ton of garbage DIY videos on CZcams and aside that yours points out where the actuator is and the common issue (plastic collar), this video rates towards the bottom.
For future reference, if you wanna teach people things, don’t half ass it. 😬
@@WilliamKruger-gc7ox get off my channel. What does your actuator working for 27 years have to do with this? Why is it my fault you don’t know which end of a screw driver to use? Which one of us has thousands of followers and people thanking them for helping fix their trucks? Me. Don’t like it don’t watch it. Keep your crying to yourself.
Voice it's too low can hardly hear them
It was early on in my YouTubing, did the best I could at the time. Hopefully you got the concept. Thanks.
