    I have never understood this notion that just because a team is in Canada I should support them. I am a diehard Flames fan, and I am well aware Edmonton has a better team than us but just because of their location on a map doesn't mean my allegiance switches to them during the playoffs. I don't think during the parade McDavid will come to the mic and thank all of the fans across Canada for supporting them, he is going to thank Oiler fans. I will happily cheer for McDavid when he is wearing a Team Canada jersey until then I will always be an ABE (Anyone but Edmonton) . Go Stars

      I was in high school in 2004. I didn't cheer for Calgary. My high school is where Jerome Iginla graduated from. So there was a whole school pride and cheering for Iginla. Still couldn't cheer the flames on. So I understand you completely on not being able to cheer for the Oilers. I'm 100% ABC. Anybody but Calgary.

    I’m a lifelong oilers fan and in the past the day they are eliminated is the last day I watch hockey until the following October. I never cheer for any other team regardless of which country they play in. I’m oilers or bust.

    Hayes is right (for once). This whole "Canada's Team" thing is a pack of nonsense. Always has been. The only people who even bring it up are pandering politicians and disingenuous broadcasters looking for something to talk about.
    As if anybody in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia are going to give a flying flick about anything going on in Alberta. We can just feel the love here every day wafting in from there. LOL!
    For me, if my Oilers are out... which they usually are at this time of year... I'll cheer for the Jets. That's it. I'm "meh" about the Habs and Sens, the Flamers and the Nuckles can pound sand for all I care and as for Toronto, I'd sooner see the Cup go to Moscow than there!

    Was down there for a business meeting during a game and when they won, one of the Calgarians said we should play La Bomba. Vancouver in comments on CZcams and TikTok are the same. It’s crazy

    Luke Gazdic a former Oiler and cheerleader for them on the Sportsnet panel made a point to call them out with visual evidence for diving. Said he was disgusted by all the diving they were doing. Bieksa said players need to start showing some integrity. I'm not cheering for a soccer team. These guys are an embarrassment.

      The Oilers do the least embellishment of all teams in the league. They also get less penalties even though teams have players waterskiing behind McDavid all the time. The refs let much of it go because the "manage" the game and know that the Oiler PP is the most lethal.

      No, that’s not what happened. During a Canucks/Oilers broadcast he called out the entire league by saying that the NHL has a problem with embellishment right now. They showed a few clips of Canucks players embellishing, and a couple clips of Oilers embellishing. Bieksa’s comment was in response to that and was referring to players on all teams in the playoffs.

I just wished we could enjoy these moments, these are great players regardless of their colours. Every team has a “rat”. Move on

      0 Stanley cups 0 conn smythes and you probably will say Pittsburgh had better teams than Edmonton but I disagree. McDavid is way more skilled offensively than Crosby but that's it. Crosby waaaayyy better defensively and is a much better leader than McDavid, that's why Crosby is a much better overall player than McDavid

    Having seen Vancouver fans jump on board for Oil and Calgary playoff runs, massive popularity, THEN seeing those markets abandon the Canucks on their runs, and purposefully cheer against them (anyone but the Canucks) I am happy to see Van fans finally get it, and not automatically support other Canadian teams like I used to. The support was never reciprocated, so I see no reason to support their markets. I'm cheering for Team Tanev.
