Devils are a good young team, you don't have to deal with Toronto primadonna"s. Keefe will be so happy being out of Toronto.

Class doesn't win playoff series. He was consistently outcoached in the playoffs. He had bad assistance coaches too that did not help him. Maybe different in NJ but I doubt it.

@ksteele8388 Keefe's system didn't help, did you watch any of the playoffs? Didn't change anything on the pp, same predictable drop pass, get bumped off the puck, start over, so frustrating to watch, leafs needed a new approach. Keefe is a good coach but he's not great and didn't adjust anything in the playoffs, bad line matches ups, he gets out coached consistently. Maybe he can do something different with the devils, he simply was too stuck in his ways in Toronto, it was time to move on from Keefe

Keefe chose New Jersey because it’s closer to his home than Winnipeg, Seattle and San Jose and also his DEVILS will play against the Leafs three times neat season.

He's an Ontario, boy, isn't he? I doubt 10 hours is still sustainable to keep a home in Toronto for him. Either way, he'd be flying which negates the distance to a negligible factor.

He chose New Jersey cuz they’re the best team out of the vacancies. Winnipeg is an older team with a much smaller window, in an absolutely shit city. Keefe can live in NYC if he wants and devils are a young team with a long window ahead of them

Maybe he is maybe he is not. My take on this entire debacle is, that despite leading the team to the playoffs every year he was there and having them lead the league in scoring for at least some of those years and having them advance past the first round in god knows how many years, shanahan and the toxic Toronto media needed an easy scapegoat (to draw attention away from himself since he has been at the helm for the last 8 years and nothing has changed) and so as is tradition the coach is always the first to go. I don’t believe keefe was necessarily the whole problem but he was an easiest to put blame on and get rid of to show that management is still doing something.

Mike Babcock and other coaches before Keefe could not make the Leafs pass the first round either. Keefe had more success than those coaches as well. Keefe was the one who brought them to the second round for the first time in years.
He did something right. The management with how they built the roster, and the players not stepping up did not help Keefe’s cause.
