The fact that Dallas got Robertson, Heiskanen, and Oettinger in the same draft is insane
might be the best draft class for one team ever
True. Let's see if they can win a cup with them.
@@obscurereference6298up there with 1989 red wings draft class
Thomas Harley, Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven, and Mavrik Bourque are all looking like steals too. Excellent drafting by Jim Nill over the last several years.
no arguments here @@mchaseross13
Brady Tkachuk over Quinn Hughes was absolutely insane by Julia lol
Putting him over either of Hughes or Dahlin is insane to me.
I'm so tired of how overrated B Tkachuk is. He's a very good player but some people think he's so much better than he is I don't get it
as a sens fan hes actually really good for the type of player he is
@@olivierpeartnoy
Brady is a better hockey player, better for the team than any other player on that list. Easily the most important to a team. It’s a Torontonian answer to want Quinn over Brady, so I understand where that thought comes from. But yeah Quinn is having a great start to the season. Re-draft, Brady is the answer.
@@trevgordon487 See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Tkachuk is a great player but picking him over Hughes or Dahlin is mind-boggling to me
I just think Jesper Bratt at least should have been mentioned for the 2016 redraft, my man was originally chosen as the 162nd pick and is definately one in the top 10 of that draft
That’s what I was sayin. Can not believe he didn’t get the riser nod
He should have been the top riser for sure, I was going to ask why he wasn't mentioned
Ikr, rn he’s a first round player
Why was Quinn Hughes being one such a debate? Dude is clearly the best in his class.
They are a toronto media company, they rarely watch anything out west
Dahlin is on pace for:
16-51-67 Points, 156 Hits, 160 Blocks.
@@LETZGONHLdraftyeah but his team might not make the playoffs so until they’re clearly in or it’s at the end of the season and people are taking a look at his stats he won’t get enough votes
@@LETZGONHLdraft
Quinn Hughes is on pace for:
30-93-123 Points
I won't even mention the others.
These guys originally had the Canucks pick Keller over Fox. They just didn't put much thought into the Canucks
julia: (proceeds to list every single qualifier to be a franchise cornerstone when describing quinn hughes)
also julia: "i just think tkachuk is that guy you build a team around cuz he just feeeels like a captain"
Sorry you can’t admit she’s right
@@Mediumreginald Hughes is the leading hart and Norris trophy candidate rn and tkachuk hasn't even passed 90 points and isn't even the best player on his own team
sorry that you're delusional
@Tedmetal666 facts and emotions can all be right lol😅
I kinda agree with her tbh. If you’re building a Stanley cup caliber team, Brady makes a lot of sense
@@Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa369 bro the senators have never made the playoffs with brady, at least quinn has had a run
In Quinn Hughes first two years he was already breaking records on a bad team, and he continues to make new ones VS Powers, hard to image he'll be better than Hughes in his peek
The chaos without DZ there to herd these cats is PALPABLE
Good job on the consistency folks! I'm proud of you guys.
Also, Corwin: "What is a defenseman but a Goalie with a different stick?"
What a surprise, no Jake Ottinger for the 2017 draft for Corwin lmao
When even 5-8 years later we can't get a real consensus on those top 5 lists from passionate fans, imagine how hard it is to rank them when they are 18 years old. Drafts are something else but that's why I'm enjoying them so much.
As a Canucks fan 2016 draft was rough, I would’ve loved McAvoy on the team. 2017 & 2018 draft though, we struck gold. The Quinn Hughes disrespect is kind of crazy, but it’s your redraft so I’m not going to judge.
Robertson ahead of Heiskanen is crazy. Brady Tkachuk over Quinn Hughes is insanity! Wouldn't have Brady in my top 3
THIS
2016 biggest riser HAS TO BE Jesper Bratt
He went in the 6th rd!!!
17:43 The discussion between Julia and Jesse about Tkachuk vs Hughes was amazing.
How someone can take Brady over Quinn and Dahlin is just crazy
@@Cedisdeadi'd even argue svech over brady lol
Good defensemen are way more important now than ever especially with the speed and skill of todays game.... they are like point guards on basketball teams. They drive every play and put up the most minutes on each team. Teams can have amazing forwards and still lose games. It's hard to beat teams with amazing defensemen.
McTavish getting disrespected here hes so good shouldve stayed 3rd to Anaheim at least imo
Nah bro what are you talking about? Obviously a goalie who's never played a game in the show is a much better pick.
damn, big diss to hischier. Hes a cornerstone. two way complete player.
What about Jake Oettinger for 2017?? I think he’s more impactful than Hischier at that #5 spot. That would also be cool cause then it’s three stars players that would crack the top 5 and imagine if it happened; the Canucks would have Demko and Oettinger 👀 nasty
Raymond has started the season a bit slow while Larkin and Cat were lighting it up, but ever since Cat cooled off, he's been the main offensive weapon for the team along with Larkin. Last year he had his sophomore slump but honestly I think this year he'll have a 65+ point season and he's not even playing PP1 most of the time.
The Wild have been really good at drafting which is great news since we haven't won a game in three weeks
The Wild would be better at Drafting if our former coach had actually used our top draft picks actively. Best players this year so far have been young players with the exception of Kap and Boldy.
Was really hoping to see Axel Sandin-Pellikka as a riser in that final draft class. Dude is on pace for an all time great SHL season for a Dman, but I cant blame them for not having eyes on that league.
him and perreult were def my picks for riser
Jessy talking down on slaf ,bet you are eating your socks now seeing him explode offensively lol
so disappointed in you corwin. no team should be disappointed in getting Nico. Selke nominee last year, captain, reliable, the best guy all around.
Right! Elite 2 way player who can get 80 points a season (I think more)
How are you going to be disappointed
That entire 2016 top 5 re-draft is American - unreal class
Hello these people are just pod caster not real nhl experts.
Swayman and Oettinger not at least being mentioned is criminal. No goalie love
love corwin but couldn’t be more wrong on the scorers>#1 defensemen take, anyone can score goals not everyone can be that defensemen that controls the blue line and the d zone
Maybe Hughes has Captain Serious vibes on the team, as a Canucks fan I understand why he's captain and its good Petty didn't get the C given his contract holdout. JT is a bit too emotional for the C as well so really only Hughes is left.
morons: Brady is a good captain because he's emotional
also morons: JT cant be a captain because he's too emotional
.... morons
2017, Jake Oettinger isn’t even an honourable mention 👀
Kaiden Guhle is severely underrated.
He needs pp time
Which shouldn't be hard to do. Just take anderson out of pp1.
Just do 3 forward and 2 d.
20:56 Durzi was in the Muzzin trade. Trevor Moore was the return for Campbell.
It's scary as a penguins fan realizing we haven't gotten many early draft selections and we are gonna be rebuilding in the coming years
It's not that scary. It's fun when you start hitting on new players and they start developing chemistry.
Penguins should have tanked for a year just to get a top prospect. Gonna need a Blackhawks level tank after syd goes
why tf is it scary? there's like 8 teams with cups the last 20 years and you have 3.
I think the 3 cups and watching Crosby, Malkin, and letang on your favorite team should hold you over for a while
1 month later, Slafkovsky keeps showing that your evaluation is so damn off, love it! xD Also Nemec killing it for Devils, what the hell is Jesse on, clueless opinions xDD
He has 7 goals in 49 games played lol I swear mtl fans think their players are god tier
@@bug0811 he's 19 lol, and his first full season 😄 seen Dubois's stats? Or do you expect 19 y.o. kid to slap in 30 goals on his first season?
@@jancihamara your original point was that the evaluation is off, mintyukov has almost the same amount of points as Juraj in 9 less games played as a D on a worse team than mtl. Cooley has more points in less games than juraj.
@@bug0811 and evaluation was indeed off lol
And the Devils are terrible right now with Jack Hughes out and Nemec is still catching up to Mintyukov in points with less games played.
Toronto media talking about the Habs is so mind boggling, it's hard to watch
Corwin you are a casual for picking Raymond at 5. I hope you read this
For real, Raymond is more capable all around player every day and is scoring more right now too.
As we go into December, you guys should do a pod on a preview of this years WJC. Look at some of the teams or standout players you expect to make it, bubble players, etc.
I love the passion and trust Jesse puts in Owen Power, hope it turns out great for him
Forget JUST this year. Hughes was first overall as of last year, you east coasters just havent seen it till now. Hes RIDICULOUS.
Brady tkachuk over dahlin and Hughes is laughable
no it's just sad.
As well as over Svech. Honestly I think he’s 5 imo.
I enjoyed Poc being here hahaha. Great interactions with Jesse
I don't even think Ottawa fans would pick Brady Tkachuk over Quinn Hughes....
So excited for you guys to come to Windsor !!!!!
For me only Raymond and Stutzle would make the top 5 that were originally in the top 5. I think Perfetti, Lundell, Mercer, and Jarvis have been better than the other players in the top 5.
as a Sens fan… Sanderson is more valuable than stutzle and should of gone #1. Points are great but Sanderson is f-ing near flawless and he’s played 1 year.
Always ready for a new podcast episode
another great episode!
Robertson over Heiskenan is crazy talk
I know this is from a month ago but man with how Nemec has fit into the injury ridden Devils I am so happy we picked him
Brady over Quinn is one hot the hottest and worst takes ever in these podcasts!
23:57 LOL Corwin's reaction
Where does Jesper Bratt get drafted in that 2016 redraft?
Good player. Not better than Matthews, Tkachuk, Fox, Mcavoy, Thompson
Jesse has to re do the 2021 draft. In what world does mason Mctavish drop with the year he’s having
It’s insane how stacked some of the more recent drafts have been
I’d be interested to see what Robert Thomas’ status would be if he played for a less mid team. The guy is definitely one of the best passers in the league.
Moore was the Clifford/Campbell move. We got Durzi in the move for Muzzin.
Lmfaoooo just goes to show, Quinn Hughes can literally lead the league in points as a dman and captain a team from the basement to the top, and he'll still get passed over for a winger who's well below a ppg on a middling-bad team. 😂😂 That's fine, keep sleeping, that's how we got him at 7 so all I can say is thank you. ❤
You guys are underrating nico hieshier he is one of those players that might not look amazing on stat sheets but when you see him live he blows you away
Tbh I think jesper bratt should have been in at least the top 10. Devils got the biggest steal of the draft
Like this, I think yall should do it for 08-2015.
Seriously disrespecting Raymond.....
The absolute Heiskanen disrespect
Dude he’s really good but Makar, Pettersson, Robertson, and Oettinger were also taken in that draft
@@jameson1239Makar is better who else though?
@@LETZGONHLdraft Pettersson, easily. Deal with it.
@@LETZGONHLdraft Pettersson
@@hemanownsyou Heiskanen is on pace for:
4-47-51 Points, 151 Blocks, +250 SAT Differential, +198 USAT Differential.
Anyone taking Brady in the top 2 is insane. Dahlin and Quinn are the top 2 easy and it’s not close. Tkachuk is heavily overrated by the Canadian market.
Jonathan Lekkerimäki will end up the top of the 2022 class by the end of the decade. Sick degree of natural talent. Mike Bossy like sniper.
Lucas Raymond should probably be third in the 2020 class, and sandin pelikka will be a riser in a few years
Keller to van is such a solid call ❤🎉 8:07
Where is the love for Zach Benson in the 2023 draft, he's got NHL games under his belt and is looking decent so far as an 18 year old
This hilarious hate train for Slafkovsky needs to stop
Yeah, really not understanding it. He's been getting better and better, especially this season. Really playing with more confidence and physicality. Good head on his shoulders as well. People are clearly not paying attention to the little things he does well.
CRYING CUZ THE WEEKLY PODCAST STREAK BROKE 😭but looking forward to having other people on while some of you guys r away!! You know what…Julia’s take isn’t the worst thing haha (even tho i respectively disagree, but still love having a Julia appearance 🫶) at least u guys spent more than two min talking abt the Canucks which I appreciate AND AT LEAST SHE WASNT LIKE ADAM FROM SDPN CALLING QUINN’S DEFENCE ATROCIOUS 👹👹THERES A REASON WHY BARDOWN PODCAST IS MY NO.1 FAVE HOCKEY PODCAST 💯🏆CUZ THEY AT LEAST WATCHED SOME CANUCKS GAMES🤣🔥🫶…rant over lol
That framed Chel '94 is sick! I suggest people check out NoClips Documentary of "The Making of NHL '94" on CZcams that came out a couple days ago.
Considering Tkachuk or Dahlin over Quinn Hughes exemplifies the superficial understanding this panel has of hockey at the most fundamental level.
Finally, I get my bardown fix
It has to be taken into consideration who these guys play behind. Byram plays behind Toews and Makar and for that reason is current ceiling is PP2. Power plays behind Dahlin, who has PP1 locked up and the play flows through him. These guys haven't shown it because they haven't been given the opportunity to. I think the Power Hedman comparison is very fair, and I also think Guhle and Byram have a very similar play style as well. Guhle is in a different pair of shoes in Montreal with less consistency/skill around him but both of them show flashes of being stars when they are in control of the play. They just don't get the points to show for it due to who is around them at the time.
Looking back, the fact that some of them took other players over Johnston and Stankoven in 2021 is insane.
Canucks players always disrespected on the pod. Give me Quinn Hughes over Brady tkatchuk every god damn day what the hell is that take
corwin trying to leave out Raymond, a calder finalist, is absolutely crazy
As yes, the greatest achievement a player can earn, Calder finalist lol. You realize how many nobodies where Calder finalists lol
Raymond wasn’t even a Calder finalist
id have brady 3 behind hughes & dahlin
Jesper Bratt 2016? 6th round Pick
was just about to type that comment!
Tough one for Finnish players 😅 Maccelli was only one that got uplift, others went down
yup that 2016 youth world championship really pumped them up so high on the draft
Hughes it up, all the Hughes’ bros be picked in the first round top 10, and we got Nico in here to
2018 Brady is #1 no question, also the reason the Sens haven’t taken the next step is because they still have DJ smith as head coach!!! Fire DJ already OMG😭😭
Brandt Clarke is going to be a star. The Kings are brining him along slowly and developing he defensive game. This is his first pro year in the AHL he is leading the league in D man scoring as a rookie.
I have a thought for a podcast, Top 5 Undrafted NHL players past present and future
Top 5 undrafted that are retired or out of the NHL
Top 5 undrafted Current NHL players
Top 5 Undrafted players inAHL and/or currently signed to an NHL team
Would be interesting to see the players that were passed over in drafts but still pressed on and made the show and proved the teams wrong about them.
This was fun!
Nemec just played his first game, you guys can fix your top 5 for 2022 now 😉
Slaf kind of proving them wrong rn
The fact that every highlight is a play against the red wings shows the red wings hate
So you admit that Quinn Hughes is probably the best player in the league at the moment, but you'll take the 70 point winger instead because you just like his vibes better?
Quinn Hughes isn't even the best player on his team homie
@@shoeboxbistro and who would that be?
Still can’t get over the red wings taking Zadina over Hughes
Insane to not mention Jesper Bratt as a riser to the 2016 draft, are you kiiiiding meee
I can't think of any way i'd ever consider Brady over Quinn especially after this season
As a jets fan I’m crying we could have got thackuk
Michkov talent is undeniable but you never know if he'll even make his way to the NHL due to Russia war
May have been a joke but I saw a post that Gretzky said Laf was the best looking player in the league with his vision and drive. And will be hot soon.
How did noone bring up Lundell for 2020?
hmm Wyatt Johnston didn't even get a mention when talking about the 2021 NHL re-draft, imo he cracks top 5
i watched chamber of secrets yesterday and even i didnt know what jesse was referencing
The disrespect here is wild, Slaf has been on fire in the last few weeks while Cooley has been stagnant. There’s more to players than stats and if you watched him play you’d see how quickly he’s progressing, kid is going to destroy the league next year no doubt
No Dustin Wolf as a riser from 2019 draft?
i wouldve put bedard at second only for one reason because if hes on the ducks the ducks have so many elite prospects and if thier roster grows together you may have 3 franchise players on one team
Top riser for the 2020 draft is Devon Levi, no question. he's a 7th rounder who has played NHL games after just turning 22 is crazy
Fastest Riser for 2023 is...Easton Cowan?
Luca Cagnoni and Hunter Bruzewitz woulda been my picks personallllyyyyy.....but aight. Both defensemen tearing it up in the CHL rn
Agree what Jesse says about Quinn Hughes.
