  • ‪@fedebooks‬ tagged me to do the New York Book Tag. I've been to this dynamic city twice and have very much enjoyed being there.
The questions are not really bookish. I get to mention a fantasy-book only once. So, this is a perfect subject for another 'On the Side'.
    The Questions
    1. Your favorite book set in or around New York
    2. New York is famous for its skyscrapers, what is the highest building you have been up to?
    3. New York New York, so good they named it twice, what is the last book you re-read?
    4. American Psycho was a disturbing novel set in New York, what is the most disturbing book you have read?
    5. Where were you when 9/11 happened?
    6. What is your favorite movie set in New York?
    7. Have you been to New York?
    8. Who is your favorite painter from New York?
    9. What is your favorite song about New York?
    10. Tag People
    I tag: @DiggerdanReads & @NevsBookChannel

I spend a lot of time with artists, painters. Most of them very skilled. I'm a 72 year old professional art model in NYC as at 19th century mid-town, very near Carnegie Hall, art school.
I could see the World Trade Center out of my apartment window. All of us home went up of the roof and watched it together. The weather was particularly great that day.
Oddly I have NEVER read Auster. Maybe I should.

Thanks for the call out Ed! It may be a few weeks but I’ll try my best to come up with my own answers. Also I enjoy metal music myself and haven’t heard of Haken, I’ll have to give them a shot!

Hi Daniel, again, don't feel obliged. Haken is real prog metal, just like Pain of Salvation, Opeth or Dream Theater. Haken is simply sublime and ingenious. Curious what you think about them.

Nice to see you got around making the Tag! You know, I was thinking, and I remember you mentioning you didn't like 4321 by Auster, I really didn't like it either but a graphic novel that tackles the same sort of idea is Daytripper, if you have kindle unlimited it's free there, greaaaat story

Oh, the tag at the end was a surprise! Ummm, not sure I’ll get around to it. I got to go up the World Trade Center in 1995. My favourite song about New York - I really like U2’s song about it but I like Madonna’s even better! Can’t think of a book about it tho and no particular movie springs to mind except for that Cary Grant one

Hello! Two of my favorite mystery series are set in New York. One is in small town, upstate New York by Julia Spencer-Fleming. They are beautifully written books with wonderful character development. The other series is a scifi police procedural one by J D Robb. My favorite part of her books is the consistently realistic banter among her characters. There are nearly 60 books in the series. I've only read about half, and they are some of the most enjoyable books I read each year. Have you visited any other parts of the US? NYC is practically a separate country - lol.

You've read more books set in New York than I have, obviously. Yeah, for work I visited Las Vegas for about 4 times, and I did a road-trip through Nevada and Utah, visiting National Parks: amazing! Also visited Canada, starting In Vancouver, mainly British Columbia, some Alberta and a sliver of Alaska.

"Whatever happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas" - lol. Our national parks are our biggest treasures. Glad you got to see a few of them 🙂.
