Another great video Ed! Looking forward to the next one
Thanks for the shoutout. Nice to see the development of your video making skills with the b-roll footage flipping through the pages!
Thanks, Nev. Had to look that up 😅 I’m having great fun editing.
I don't want to fuel your book-buying addiction, but have you heard of C.S. Friedman? I just started her Cold Fire Trilogy. I think Captured in Words recommended it in a video as an underrated series. I'm only 200 pages in to the first book but I'm loving it. It's a bit darker and there's a good amount of romance. Also some mild horror. It's from the 90s so the pacing is very akin to classic fantasy. Lovely prose as well. I wrote down this quote:
"Black water, pale blue moons. Domina overhead, rising as they sailed northwards, and the whiter crescent of Casca counter-rising in the west: a heavenly counter-point. For an instant he sensed a greater pattern forming between them, as if the tides of light and gravity were cojoined with the rhythms of lunar rotation in a delicate, ever-shifting web of power. Then the moment was gone, and the night was merely dark."
I'm also reading through Broken Earth right now. I loved Fifth Season, but Obelisk Gate hasn't been nearly as compelling for me so far. Still a decent read, hopefully I'lll like Stone Sky.
Happy reading to you :D
That ís beautiful prose. Have heard of her but she’s not on my TBR yet. You’ve peaked my interest. Broken Earth, one of the most literary fantasy I ever read. Glad that you like it!
Your channel is so underrated
I agree.
Exciting! You almost made your 4 days between goal!! You had a successful 52 days! I've just ordered two more McCaffery Dragon books from thriftbooks. This week, I've been immersed in 2 very good mysteries - A Darkness More Than Night by Michael Connelly and I Shall Not Want by Julia Spencer-Fleming. More fantasy is in the near future🙂.
Almost! Still on my hiking trip. Heading back home today. Most of the mystery authors you mention are new to me. Curious about your Pern experience.
@DutchGreyBeard Hope your vacation was a fun one ! Connelly's Harry Bosch series is one of the most consistently well written cop mystery series in existence! He reminds me of Raymond Chandler. The Black Echo is the first. Julia Spencer-Fleming's books have a more literary feel. The protagonist is a female Episcopalian priest who flies helicopters. There are only 9, so I treat myself to one every 18 months or so. In The Bleak Midwinter is the first.
Always very exciting when you upload a new video! I really love these wrap-ups.
Thank you, Amanda.
