  • He may not be getting the headlines anymore, but Sidney Crosby was still very much among the NHL's elite during the 2020-2021 season. Mastering his defensive game while still being an offensive force, Crosby put up 62 points in 55 games, becoming the 2nd player to ever start a career averaging at least a point per game in 16 consecutive seasons.

      @@loicmburanumwe5879 offensively sure, but even with just the eye test you can tell McDavid isn't on the same defensive level as Crosby. Plus faceoffs. I'm referring to everything he needs to do on th nice. Not just producing goals

    most of the people really dont care if people around the NHL care about crosby or think hes good. Us in pittsburgh know how good he is and how he is and will never take it granted. Penguins are probably one of the most slept on teams this season. Won the hardest division in the NHL and hardly heard a word about the pens on NHL network and i watch that stuff on the daily.

    All the players that every one claimed were the best are in their mid 20's. Sidney Crosby has changed the game to the level it is today. In his latter years of his career, he has led the Metropolitan/East division to the best in this season and leads his team in points and scores with Guenzel and Rust, but most of all is his leadership! Penguins has gone to the playoffs 15 years in a row, Capitals are 2nd with 7. That is since he joined the team! Crosby is the best all around player with no doubt.

    The McDavid hype is deserved, but it makes me mad because so many people forget the pace Sid was setting from 2010-12 before he got knocked out for a whole year. In 2010-11 Sid had 32/34/66 in the first 41 games which was the same as McDavid this year (McDavid had 68 pts I think) and that was against a rougher league and goalies who didn’t have the equipment changes that nhl recently enacted to enhance goal scoring. He came out in 2011-12 at an even greater pace. Who knows if he would’ve hit 100 pts in 53 games the way McDavid did but I think he would’ve had a 60/70/130 season. Always overlooked in so many ways. Will always be the most complete hockey player ever in my eyes. He makes the play happen before the play even starts.

    • @PuckinAround
      @PuckinAround  Před 3 lety +4

      Couldn't have said it any better. People don't realize that scoring is significantly higher now than it was back in Crosby's prime years. The average goals per game for a team back in Crosby's 6th and 7th seasons were 2.79 and 2.73. This season it's at 2.93. The reduction in goalie equipment and stricter penalties on slashing and holding have significantly impacted this. Not to take anything away from McDavid who is having a historic season, but you're right, everybody seems to forget about how dominant Sid was in Year 6 as well.

      @@PuckinAround No doubt it is a faster more open game now. 10 years ago it the regular season was like playoff hockey is now, except the goalies had equiptment that made sure they didn't get bruised by shots.

    Never had less than a Point per game season. Around the same age McDavid is now, Sid was on an absolute different level in 10-11 before his concussions robbed him of nearly 2 seasons. To come back from that, which a lot of people thought his career was over, just shows how hard he works and will continue to work until he hangs them up. Like the video says, totally disrespected
