  • The new Texas social media censorship bill purports to protect Free Speech in Big Tech social media platforms. Governor Greg Abbott has gone so far as to say the social media censorship should end, and we need to regulate Big Tech. But does this new social media censorship law really protect you and me? In today's video, I detail what's wrong with the new social media censorship law, and I show what future laws should say to protect Creators' right to Free Speech online.

    Do you have any suggested clauses to include in future laws designed to protect Creators' Free Speech right?

      As long as the user is not directly targeting anyone else negatively to insight unfair treatment or inflict (unnecessary) harm or stir chaos and break a country's laws, then users should be able to talk about whatever they desire.

      yes, that any calls for sensitivity to be largely ignored if not outright admonished because parody and jokes and even facts must in large part be protected no less than any other speech. the missplaced patronizing of trying to protect women, minorities, and et cetera from the harmful effects of speech has left a chilling blow to not only comedy but also to free speech at every turn. as terrible as hate speech is, hate speech cannot does not exist in a legal context of the united states. because that would imply someone having the ability and capacity to decide what speech is ok or not and in what context or not. this would defeat the very idea of the first amendment and be illegal if the government were to do it. it would be a loophole and be defacto breaking of the first amendment if a large private entity were to do it.
      one cannot play favorites, one cannot play taste police. I dare say not even the consumer should do that either unless they're opposing censorship.

    Speaking of this law, is there any update with KOSA? I'm surprised I haven't seen you talk about it yet. Being a 'horror story channel' I can see it affecting mine with the way one person described it because I tell spooky, scary horror stories and I certainly don't make them for kids although I'm sure free range children might watch because their parents aren't paying attention so the gvt has to do it for them. Sigh. Please, when you get the time, do an update on this. I searched for KOSA on your channel but it came up with videos older than the bill. Thanks

    I certainly agree... Also at some point this censorship will (if it hasn’t already) bring about the slow demise of the unfair big tech when a fair competitor can finally become popular enough to outgrow the competition. Or will the the newcomer just get “cancelled” in a fight over a media monopoly?!! As far as clauses go, I think that the Bill of Rights should be “clause” enough... Or at least ya’d think, right?!!

      @@Turbulation1 Well
 there might be one way we can get our message across. We may have to write letters of complaint to Google and tell them what we want and when we want it. (And by “letters,” I mean physical letters, not email.) It’s not a surefire solution, but it’s better than none. All we need is Google HQ’s mailing address and we’re good to go.

    YT's more recent option to upload privately, give them 2 hours before making it public to allow YT time to, "highlight," a video to bring you more views is a despicable & deceptive way of making sure your videos pass their system checks points. Deception & manipulation is what comes to mind. It's time to find a platform that follows the laws against censorship CZcams!

    I always know that I usually develop gaming content that's within federal laws of the USA, by rating. I would never provide cancel content at all, but if all content is provided, I'll do anything to livestream under rules, and algorithm. What I think, Texas is trying to do, is to simply target music creators, when in reality, provides cancel content in the present day; which kinda reminds me of another person I used to subscribe to.

  • @christopherneufelt8971
    @christopherneufelt8971 Pƙed 2 lety +1

    I totally disagree. The content must be regulated by the social media and the state for a very simple reason: the platforms belong to social media and your life and politics belong ultimate to the state/collective. The freedom of expression is protecting only the people supporting the current regime or the people that do the dirty job for the current regime. Personally I am against this form of control, but as a citizen I learned and lived that freedom of expression does not exist, unless you are ready to sacrifice yourself, for that second of freedom.

    A social media platform, even a web host, in the United States cannot offer their customers / users true freedom of expression online because of section 230 of the communications decency act, as part of its safe harbour provisions require operators to take down illegal material.

      @@KiraReminiec9399 Re-watch the video, he was saying companies should offer creators / users *total freedom of expression*. The goverment is using Big Tech to do the dirty work of censuring for them, and in exchange Big Tech gets immunity so they can kill the competition. Remember Parlor? Constitution is a paper you can wipe ass with at this point and not much else. America is not a constitutional republic, its a corrupt banana republic. And Big Banks, Big Pharma, Big Tech, etc are in bed with goverment. So old school play book is not something you can play by. New rules are about opposition public/private partnership. Crony Capitalism 2.0. Capitalism with American Characteristics. Fascism, Communism, call it what you will but Rule of law - a principle under which all persons, institutions, and entities are accountable to laws for ensuring an orderly and just society.... does not apply under new terms of services. The new rule is golden rule. He who has the gold, makes the rules.
