How to make a Latte

    - The video uses a 20oz pitcher, 10oz cup, whole milk and a double shot espresso
    - Lattes can range from 1:3 to 1:X espresso to milk ratio since a latte is just a reference to an espresso with steamed milk. Most commonly, lattes are made with ~1:4 espresso to milk ratio.
    - Social media has perpetuated that filling up the cup to the rim is the way to go with lattes. Personally, I like to give around 1/2cm room in the cup so it is less spill prone. I've seen too many lattes bite the dust after being filled too high...
    - Properly foamed milk is half the battle of good latte art. It's important to not only add the right amount of microfoam but also incorporate that foam throughout the pitcher with a whirlpool motion.

    This feels like it's useful for a very small amount of people. Either you know nothing and this video is insufficient, or you already know how to make a latte and this video just tells you what you already know. Nice pouring tho ❤

      The main thing is that you need to be able to make microfoam with the milk when steaming. The barista versions of alternative milks are usually a safe bet for making microfoam and pouring latte art.

    • @brewinghabits
      @brewinghabits  Před 6 měsíci

      You might not be steaming the milk properly. Check out this video (czcams.com/users/shortsi-bfZzvOZ2c?si=QCsH4xUKOpYZZwPc) where I show how you can practice with soap, water and ice to get the proper texture. It might also be the specific milk you are using so if you can achieve good steaming with the soap, water and ice but not with milk, try swapping brands of milk.
