The book Baneblade had its first chapter entirely devoted to describing how they build these. It was amazing, and I also highly recumbent the book.
PS: will you consider a short video on the Baneblade's fellow Super-Heavies?
Nice... Nice... Let's kee the "Spacedock Planetside" coming! Now what about StarCraft 1 and 2 Siege Tank!?
_Let's go Bane Blaaaaaaaaaade!!_
No wait, wrong show...
BANE BLADE for when you're sick of holding the line
Let is R.I.P. XD
Baneblade. For when the Imperial Guard is finally sick and tired of holding the line.
Oh yeah. The moment I made that fucker. It's over. It's like the exodia.
During the "Dark age of Technology" the BaneBlade was considered a LIGHT Battle Tank.
Really😲?
To place the o holy baneblade as a lesser tank akin to a salamander is a blasphemy aginst the omnisiah(its just a meme)
@@samuel10125 before the 41st mellenium human tecnology was much more advanced
@@LAV-III I mean I know that but how advanced if a bane blade is considered a light tank?.
@@samuel10125 probably something like the forrunners from halo maby not as advanced but something similar
Here's an extra bit of fun fact:
One of the variant of the Baneblade, known as the Banesword is equipped with the mighty Quake Cannon that separate it from the rest of it cousins. But it is not so much as the Cannon itself is the main highlight, but is the ammunition instead.
Being the literal bane of enemy fortresses, the Quake Cannon fire a Quake Shell that is *imbued with the death cry of an entire planet.* Long story short, whenever the Imperium executed an Exterminatus (aka nuke the planet from orbit) the Adeptus Mechanicus recover the shattered pieces of the planet and the blast-waves of the planet death-throes. And for every Quake Shell, there is a piece of the murdered planet forged into it.
When it is fired, the Shell literally scream and wail with the voice of the planet's butchered population as it soar through the air toward the enemy.
"When one of these shells strikes its target, it does so with enormous, heart-stopping power, transferring the echoes of a planet-shattering blast into a localised area. When the smoke clears, if a smouldering hole has not appeared in the fortress walls, then the shell will have caused instant fissures; fault-lines will begin to appear across the perimeter of the citadel, meaning the next blow will be the one to enable the Imperial forces to breach its defences." -Warhammer 40k wikia.
That's fucking metal, bruh.
Metal... PSI titans.. many enslaved people with powers bled dry to fuel its weapons, its pilot a blank and immune or you would be driven mad by the pain and agonony contained inside its hull.
Grimderp detected...
that sounds like bad guy's weapon of choice
Not Troll just Noob its 40k everyone is one evil. You'll just choose whose the lesser one
@@canthurtcrt7370 orks are having a paradise though lol

YOU AR HEEEELD! DO NAWT FEEYAH!
Engineer: How many guns do you want in the tank?
Imperial Guard: *YES*
*deep inhale*
CREEEEEEEEEEEEED
Sultan whats that Titan doing there ?
CREEED
What's the entire Cadian 8th regiment doing he...
CREEEEEEED!!!
What's that Baneblade doing there?
CREEEEEEEEED!!!
Hey how di it disappear??
TRAAAZZYYYYYYYNNNN!!!
Actually the Baneblade disappeared along with the 99 others assigned to Kaurava
*STUUUUUUUUUUUUBBBBBBSSSS*
Yarric never returned to Golgotha to reclaim his tank. It was an army of 10K troops plus hundreds of tanks that got wrecked in the process but managed to recover the tank and a piece of xeno tech for the cogboys. Its covered in the book "Gunheads"
One of the better Guard books imho
"Ready to unleash eleven barrels of hell!"
"We'll leave nothing standing."
"We will lead by example."
"Doubt is for the dying."
"All guns, fire until they glow!"
"We'll make the Emperor proud."
"Failure is a weakness of the enemy."
"We'll flatten anything standing in our way."
"Fire, all barrels hot!"
"All guns, on my mark!"
"All guns, strike true!"
"You'll not find us lacking, sir."
"As you command, so shall it be."
"Roll over them!"
"All Guardsmen, follow me to glory!"
"All cannons at the ready, fire!"
"Who's dying now?"
"Keep firin' 'til I see the glow of our barrels!"
-Baneblade Tank Commander
Drive me closer I want to hit them with the bayonet: tank blade
Ah, 40K. Love it or hate it, these guys know how to name a vehicle. "Fortress of Arrogance" indeed!
Even better, as the owner of it survived getting *ran over* by the damn thing! Better still, the Baneblade survived running him over!
What was that man made of?!
+dan f Apperently "WAAAAAGGHHH" energy...no seriously this is canon, many of Yarriks great acts of survival are atributed to the orks psykic field wich is able to bend reality based on the orks collective thought. So the one of the greatest Ork army the imperium has ever faced up until that point thought Yarrik to be immortal, so their psykic field made him immortal and yes the orks psykic field can work against them.
@@galling2052 THe greatest Ork army Imperium ever faced? You clearly haven't heard of the Beast Waagh! His diploamts (yes, fucking diplomats) spoke fluently High Ghotic, in few years he had them jump from Ork Age to levels rivaling everyone else in galaxy, his Waagh's psychic energy caused humans to turn into mindless cattle that Iron Warriors thought to be atrocity, btw he FORCED IRON WARRIORS TO PROPOSE ALIANCE TO IRON FISTS AND THE FISTS ACCEPTED, he layed siege to Holly Terra itself with his attack moons, he KILLED VULCAN and EXTERMINATED ALL OF THE ORIGINAL IMPERIAL FISTS. Yes, he destroyed the original IF who were later recreated by having their succesors give some of their own number and that's not all!
@@ZeroCanalX at the point in time i made that comment i did not know of the beast.
Fun fact STCs say this tank is a light tank! That means humans before the Imperium had bigger and heavier tanks! ;)
Brother..... I need me one of those tanks.
Also states the imperator titan as a medium bipedal weapons platform.
ohhh fuuuck, if this is a light tank I shudder to think what they thought a medium or a heavy tank was, at least we now have another reason the Eldar never messed with the old Human Federation
I mean, the Castigator Titan was twice the size of an Imperator, yet more mobile than a warhound. Pre-Imperial humanity pumped out literal god-tier weapons like crazy. XD
@@Autechltd I wonder what was considered a heavy vehicle at that time.
Nothing says "fuck yeah, humanity" like the Baneblade.
Except for a Titan
"IT IS THE BEEEEEINNNBLEEEEHHDDDEEEE!"
3rd War for Armageddon? What? There were only 2 wars both Imperium vs Orks. If you think that there were another war before those two please report it to your local Comisar.
As well if you claim there could be some force more evil the xenos behing the veil of relity!!!
The First War of Armageddon happens in the book The Gift of the Emperor. World Eaters lead by Angron against Space Wolves, Grey Knights and Imperial Guard.
@Vaniellis You didn't get it right?
@Vaniellis so you didn't get it right? So in short Chaos and Ordo Maleus are secret to normal citizens of The Imperium. If you encounter demon or Grey Knight as normal imperial citizen and you are lucky to survive the battle, Ordo Maleus will remove you.
Oh ! I forgot that ! I feel SOOOO stupid... Yeah, they do a psychic purge to any witnesses that are not Ordo Maleus or Grey Knight. They even killed all the soldiers of the Imperial Guard. Gosh, I need to confes... Where is the nearest Ordo Hereticus abbey ?
Whoops, small mistake on the factsheet there, that should say '316 Tons' as outlined in the narration, not 319. My bad. :)
Still 5 times the mass of a modern Abrams....
baneblade 316 says i just exploded your ass!
I'd love to know how you create your factsheets, since I have real idea how to make my own.
+Spacedock honestly it would probably change depending on its loadout anyways.
Eh, three tons? That's only some spare tracks welded onto it, a fuel tank and maybe a couple spare cannon barrels strapped to it
Alternative Quote for the Baneblade
"Drive me closer!!! I want to hit them with my sword" -- A Baneblade Commisar
I never got that. How do you hit stuff from up there?!
With faith in the Emperor and a very large sword.
Pretty sure that's for leman russ tanks
Yes
And either one works
"IF YOUR NOT WILLING TO SERVE IN THE FRONTLINE THEN YOU WILL SERVE ON THE FIRING LINE" ~ Every Commisar
Except Caiaphas Cain
3rd War... you got some balls to say that :D
Extremely limited numbers.......unless you're on Kaurava, in which case 100 of them are sent out at once.
I thought those 100 baneblades were being shipped off-world to more important warzones.
You would most likely feel it long before seeing it, since it would be causing the ground to vibrate and tremble as it moves. Any ground troops would be on the verge of panic from feeling and hearing the Baneblade approach.
Yeah much like the almighty Leviathian unleashing her vengeance upon those who dare to defy the Holy God Emperor's will as well as threatening His Imperium on top of siding with the forces of darkness and chaos which has been plaguing mankind since the universe itself came into existence
"SOME FOOL JUST SHOT AT US!!!! ROLL OVER HIM!!!!"
Drive me closer! I wanna hit 'em with my sword!
REAL MEN FIGHT ZE PANZER AT CLOSE RANGE!!!
Would love if you done a video on the Necron Monolith as it is also absurdly powerful
levitikan or a tomb stalker
2:07 I love the inside view so much! It's a freaking 3 story building on treads.
319 tons. For reference, the Abrams tank is about 50 tons. This thing is an absolute beast.
Can you imagine if this absolute beastial behemoth of a tank existed in real life than our military would be virtually unstoppable and our nations foes would die of fear from seeing this beauty
@@dylanclark2240 In real life this tank would be the most useless thing on the ground and a waste of resources lol
@@savage7882 yeah the only reason this thing exists in that setting at all is because the enemies of man bring shit that makes it look tiny. Or bring numbers so numerous that every gun will be firing, sometimes all at once, and sometimes at different targets.
@@Tank50us Well, as an engineer, if my imperium mechanicus colleagues determine that that vehicle is effective then i don't have an objection.
...I'm imagining The Chieftain doing his "oh God (Emperor), the tank is on fire" test on this beast. The poor driver is SCREWED.
ahhh, baneblades, aka "the almost enough daka" tank
Havoc Blitzkrieg Nonsense! What you need is 40 Imperial Guardsmen using FRFSRF, supplemented by a squadron of Leman Russ' mounting Punishers, Heavy Bolters and stubbers. Then you have the most dakka-y comp possible. This could actually work in 8th ed, even against vehicles.
A space hulk inhabited by Orks has according to one author, 0.1% enough Dakka.
WHAT YA SAYING YA GIT, YOU SAYING THERZ SUCH FING AS ENEFF DAKKA ?
Look up 40K memes / baneblade and there is a image of a small hovertank painted in ultrasmurf colors with a good bit of dakka not enough but close....
I found it on Pinterest...
"At the point in time when bullets can pass through the interdimensional walls. When firepower takes up the entirety and eternity of space and time, all beings stuck in a neverending life and death cycle as bullets recover and destroy their bodies in quick succession. No one is able to think about anything but the sheer force of the bullets rapidly flying literally everywhere in the materium turning the warp itself into nothing but a sea of automatic weaponry.. Then there will be enough dakka. Or, at least almost."
Man-Emperor of Mankind.
There is no such thing as enough dakka...
By the god emperor, I love it when you make Warhammer 40k videos
Imagine surviving Great Crusade, fighting in Horus's legions right to the Terra, then retreating to the Eye of Terror and battling through thousands of years of the Long War just so you can one day be run over by one of those things :( That must suck.
IT IS THE BAAAAANEBLAAADEEE!!!
BROTHA ARE YOU STILL PINNED BY THE BANEBLADE'S MAGNIFICENCE?!?
Just don't misplace 100 of them.
please give us more warhammer content,i love it,FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!!!
and also,if you can, give us some Warhammer 30k content(the houris herersy time)
Some time ago I read something about the Warhammer universe which sounded about right:
Even with laser weapons, there's something intrinsically _manly_ about squeezing the trigger on a slugthrower.
IT IS THE BAAANNNNEEEBLLLLLAAADDDEEE!!
It'd be nice if someone were to somehow convince the Mechanicus that variants of the Baneblade are different tanks built on a holy frame but are nonetheless their own separate vehicles. After all, a Hellhound is not a Chimera. We're not talking a few swapped weapons but otherwise just Baneblades by another name. We're talking completely overhauled internal design in addition to other weapons. Much like how the aforementioned Hellhound's internal layout is so different from a Chimera that it's unknown whether or not they are actually related or just visually similar. Therefore, the strict limits on who can build Baneblades doesn't apply to the other tanks built on its chasis. Same with the Land Raider.
Baneblade, for when youre sick and tired of holding the line
As I said before the battle mechs of the Clans from Battle Tech are interesting, you should be able to find many of their specs on the web.
literally painting my new baneblade watching this
You so need to cover the Clan Mechs of Mechwarrior, especially the Mad Cat.
I absolutely adore that Mars pattern that was made with the rounded gun mantlets and overall 1950's American heavy tank feel. In my eyes it feels much more appropriate than the WWI styling most of everything else has. I'd love to see a Leeman Russ rebuilt that way.
IT IS THE BANEEEEEBLLLLAAAAADDEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Oh and thanks M8.
*LET'S BANEBLADE!*
DovahSpy *LET IT RIP!*
IT'S THA BAAAAAAANEEEEEEBLAAAAADEEEEEEE
i've been watching more and more of your videos since one your videos appeared on my recommended videos list last night. i love scifi thats why i keep on watching your videos. you earned another sub.....
*Commissar inhales before putting his pistol away* The emperor is pleased!
In b4 Bruva Alfabusa shows up with his Baneblade memes.
Speaking of super-heavy tanks, have you considered doing any of the BOLO AI super-tanks from the famous Keith Laumer or David Weber series of novels?
A tank with so much dakka even orks want them.
Mammoth Tank's older brother.
I love 40k. Theres so much content for channels like this one. It's a humungous universe
"Sir the enemy has us outnumbered and are storming our position. We have no hope." Said a guardsman "Guardsman you should know by now the emperor protects. He also provides nice big tanks to protect ourselves." Says the lord-general as a baneblade is dropped in front of them via air drop.
Mechanicus: How many guns do you want on your tank?
Astra Militarum: Yes
*Wakes up refreshes CZcams* *Sees new Spacedock vid and clicks*
can't wait till you talk about the Titans from warhammer 40k
Did i hear Battlezone in the intro or its just nostalgia for that awesome game?
You heard correctly.
That battlezone 2 menu music ha good memoirs
Whoa that was cool, I would like to see you do Leman Russ as well! That one gets more fun as you go down the list of variants.
Now that you're doing ground vehicles, Bolos are a must.
F in the chat for our boy Yarrick!
Nicely done, I very much enjoy your videos!
If you think this is mad, wiat until the inevitable episode on the Capitol Imperialis. Now THERE'S a stupidly OP tank.
Ready to eleven barrels of HELL!
Vast manority of IG regiments have baneblades, but usually in small number. But some regiments have Baneblades brigades.
So Yarrick's Baneblade is the battle wagon the Orks described as so big and so shooty that not even 100 flash boiz could take it down.
Thank you for doing the BaneBlade!
Baneblades: For when you finally get sick of holding the line.
Yes. My favourite army. But they have had a name change, there called the astra militarum now. Although in the rule book it dose say also known as the imperial guard.
it's basically 40k's version of the landkreuzer
Nice scout vehicle you have there, Sir!
I subscribed to you just on the basis that you are crediting the people who did the artwork. Thank you.
Super Heavy Tank more like super dakka tank as I like to say it :P
Nah, that was the Storm Hammer Super Heavy. 2x2 Battlecannon turrets, 4x Las Cannons turrets and crap load of bolters
Ready to unleash eleven barrels of hell!
Or the Macharius Vulcan, which basically carries around a gattling gun the size of a bus
There is never enough dakka
Underb00t you are correct good sir
Excellent. Thank you.
Actually Yarrick was not part of the mission of the recovery of the Fortress of Arrogance. If you are a war hammer 40k lover of tanks( and I’m guessing you are if you are watching this video) the story of its recovery is in the book “Gun Heads” which is a book focusing around a Leman Russ crew that is part of the operation.
Baneblades, for when you're finally sick of holding the line
Thank you for covering this Spacedock! The Baneblade is seriously a tank
worthy of remembrance!
Any progress yet on doing a cover for 40K Fighters? If you'd like to
just focus on one I'd highly recommend the Thunderbolt! An impressive
and versatile craft this fighter has the armor and fuel load to stay in
the fight longer then most others but it's sheer arsenal of four
autocannons and two lascannons make it a powerful killer to boot!
Highest known record of any one pilot to kill enemy fighters in a
Thunderbolt is 10 in one sortie, what's more that's a record for all
Imperial Fighters for all wings in history. This was done by Larice
Asche, a Phantine flyer and one of the few females to every fly one of
these venerable machines.
Double Eagle, great book to read for source material on the Thunderbolt
but it talks about the capabilities of other fighters and tanks as well.
I'd highly recommend reading it!
Suggestion:
The Coalition of Northern Kiithid's Sakala-class land carrier Kapisi
Lotta info in Deserts of Kharak on the vehicle, even moreso in the game's digital manual- would make for a nice episode~
Our most honorable baneblade!
Aww yea I said I would love to see this and I was right.
Thanks spacedock you're great man same with your videos!
YAS FINALLY MORE 40k!!
As a 19k in the us army I'd love to be able to be a crew member of this massive tank
Aw you forgot the best part about the fortress of arrogance: that yarrick was run over by his own baneblade
Oh man, that DoW music sent me back.
rumor has it that back in the day these things used to be the imperium's main battle tank
Your Narration is really phenomenal
"Drive me closer so I can hit them with my sword!"
Cool video. Was hoping for Imperial Knights but the Baneblade is a close second.
It should also be noted that during the Great Crusade, this was the Imperium's MAIN BATTLE TANK.
And it was a 'light tank' during the Dark Age of Technology
It is the baneblade !
During the Dark Age of Technology it was a *medium* size tank. Humanity was fucking badass
For the Imperium!
BAAAAAAAAAAAANEBLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!
Baneblades when you're tired of holding the front
So I saw something that caught my eye in the stats. 20 cm of armor? That's really not that much. The T95 super heavy tank, which exists, has 28 cm of frontal armor. The Abrams mbt has places where the effective armor reaches an estimated 130 cm. This has to be some kinda super condensed matter armor with a bit of plot protection. I mean this is 40k I was expecting several feet of armor
I believe it is mostly adamantium and plasteel which are absurdly powerful. At least that's how I explain these weird stats for 40k vechicles.
It really must be, I would hate to think a "wimpy" thing like a TOW missile with a "measly" 43cm+ of penetration could pierce a Baneblade. It's practically heresy!
lol it's made of Adamantium, nigh-indestructible material. Only energy weapons or the most absurd firepower can pierce it. That or daemonic/warp crap.
Or pokey, spikey, spitty things. see Tyranids
RaeSyngKane I remember reading about a baneblade resisting several hits of the axe of a blood thirster, which (the axe) is the size of a car.
IT'S THE BANEBLADE!!
Looks like a mix between the hull of a T-14 and a B1 with the turret of a Pz IV
Would love to see you do an episode on the Adeptus Astartes Mastodon. Awesome mobile fortress/tank.
@Spacedock: What is the music named during the bulk of the video? I hear it so often but can never hunt it down.
Also, another great video! Loving the Planetside series so far. Also curious on when the next "Versus" series video will be, it's very informative and very well done.
Trevor Lesage It's one of the more common tracks in WH40K, the Space Marine theme from Dawn of War.
*ALL GUARDSMEN, FOLLOW ME TO GLOOOOOOORRYYYYY!!!*
Beautiful light tank.
Think a 40 foot container stacked 3 high. That's about standing by the side of one of these
I'd like to offer suggestion for your next episode, but the problem is I'm not sure if this should air here on planetside or on spacedock. I would Love to see a video covering one of my favorite vessels of late, THE AVENGER from Xcom 2! The problem is The ship was built from the salvaged remains of an alien warship whichwould categorize it as starship but for The entirety of the game, it never leaves atmosphere which I guess could make it an… airship? I leave that question to the experts at spacedock to figure out. I humbly apologize for whatever chaos this inflicts on the spacedock filing systems. (Lol). Anyway, amazing channel. I try to never miss an episode and am already looking forward to the next!
