Lt. Dan is slowly coming back to life! I hope everyone enjoys seeing this progress as much as I do.
That looks really great it’s coming along very nice. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
Thanks, will do!
Awesome info, redoing my 93 1st gen and think I’ll follow your plan for the frame
Awesome, do a little research and make sure you come to the same conclusions as me. Honestly I don't think there is a perfect product out there but either route will be fine.
Let me know what you end up doing. I don't think there is a bad way to go with how many options are out there. I won't get a good idea about the durability and longevity of this method for a while.
Thinking of coroseal and applying chassis saver as a final coat, I’m not sure about the adherence issues that might arise between the two products
whiskies xxx same, eventually going to work on restoring my 91' and plan on using the correseal.
How is the corroseal/farm & implement holding up three years later? Planning to use that exact combination on my f250
I've been wondering too. Been wanting to do this to my 94 c1500
Looking good!
Thanks Jim!
Excellent job and great music... the video and video combination is really good
Did the same on my tacoma chassis...used rust converter and the enamel spray paint
Thanks man!
Man that new music sounded like Breaking Benjamin for a second. Keep up the content brother!
Haha I can see that for sure! Love me some BB
Looking good! I see what you mean about por15 vs chassis saver.
Yeah, just two different routes. The 1st gen community is all about the encapsulors. It wasn't till I got the jeep and had jeep guys start commenting on my videos that I really learned about the convertors. Both are good options though.
@@decentgarage all about gaining that knowledge!
They do make a satin in this paint line, they call it low gloss has a great sheen.
Good and thank you,
How did it hold up in three years?
Is that rust oleum tractor paint two component, does it have a hardener?
Try oven cleaner as a degreaser for that transmission and t case. Use in a well ventilated area though
That's exactly what I did. Dollar store oven cleaner is the best!
@@decentgarage that stuff is great. I learned about it years ago and use it all the time
i just used corroseal on my truck frame and don’t want the rust coming back, is this the best paint for a frame for a daily driven truck or do you recommend something else??
So i haven't gotten to put any miles on this project yet as it is still torn apart but it seems to have worked well. I used chassis saver in my truck and have driven that a ton and I'm thoroughly impressed with that product.
That Corroseal will go? Trying to figure out how much I would need to do a crewcab long bed frame. Also, were you able to just paint right over over it or did you have to wash it first? Great video, all your videos are helping me build my Crewcab!
The corroseal has done well. I got under the OG crew and checked out the chassis saver yesterday as well and it is also holding up really well. The chassis saver is more of a matte finish though and the tractor paint i put over the corroseal should stay pretty glossy.
Rustoleum oil based paint works good
Corroseal is a great......and affordable product. And I highly recommend implement paint. I think it's one of the best brush on paints out there. If you use a lighter color you might have to do 2 coats, but it lays down like glass when dry.
Yep, i'm really happy with the results.
I have some rust on floor board, would this be safe on that?
Yeah it would
Dude where do you live?! Scenery is amazing!
Deep in the heart of Utah 👍
So can we do this on my enclosed trailer frame?
For sure! Let's do it!
keep in mind the satin or flat is a softer finish than the gloss.
Interesting. I didn't know that
I was wondering can you spray raptor truck bed liner over there product?
I don't know the exact answer to this and U-Pol has not been great at responding to my questions. I don't see why you couldn't. I would just use a self etching primer. Keep me posted if you hear otherwise
@@decentgarage thanks for responding back to me I will try it and keep you posted.
Did you add a Gardner to the paint or just use right out of the can?
I used it right out of the can but i wish I would have used some hardener with it
I meant hardner thanks but why should you have used a hardner?
@@scottkucinski4967 I've learned more since i did this video a year and a half ago. The jeep still hasn't left the garage since this video so it's holding up fine but I've learned that many people add a little hardener to it
Did u do anything special before like did u hit it with a wire brush
Yes, wire wheel any major rust and scales off
hey can you give an update on how this has held up 3 years later?
It has held up fantastic. Out of all the methods I've used this is for sure my preferred one.
Thanks for that! I used it on my daily driver and too coated with the same paint you did. Hasnt seen a winter yet so we’ll see. Planning to apply cosmoline in fall
After the corroseal how didnyou prep for paint?
No prep needed after corroseal. It dries as a paintable primer per the instructions.
@@decentgarage thank you sir. Great video
i wonder how it holding up
So far it's holding up great but the jeep still isn't put back together completely 😁. If i were to do anything differently with this method i would add a little bit of hardener to the paint. That should help with durability.
rust has moisture in it thats why those others do not work well especially without zero surface prep
How was the dry time with the Rustoleum?
I let it dry for a solid week and even then I don't like to declare this tractor paint completely curred for a month. You can add hardener to it which I will probably do next time but it is still holding up amazing
@@decentgarage thanks I was wondering if it dried quickly to the touch like the professional line.
@@Jeepdriver75 it's dry to the touch in a day for sure. But it's not fully hardened for a few weeks
Show us the frame now? Did the rust return?
It did not. I've worked with tons of different frame coating methods including powder coat and I can confidently say this is my favorite method. It holds up great, easy to touch up if needed, and it's budget friendly. The frame still looks brand new 👍
Is this like rust sargeant????
I'm not sure what rust Sargeant is but this stuff has held up great
@@decentgarage it's a product that was on the market years ago and literally looks just like this stuff but they don't make it anymore so I was wondering if they bought it and changed logos ??? I plan on buying some thanks for the videos
That rustolem is oil based probly the best thing ever to use on frames. I used por on my frame on my 85 chevy that's a Sunday cruiser and it made the rust 10x worse ill never use it again! Stripped it again cleaned it up used the rustolem farm and implement and rustolem rusty metal primer for alot less cost then the por 15 kit 2 years later it still looks like I just finished it
Yep I've had the same experience! The Rust-Oleum still looks new
POR 15 Big Waste of Time Outrageously OverPriced and try Dropping a Little Break Fluid,on it
Have you experienced any flaking yet?
None yet but i still haven't put the jeep back together. I'm curious to see how it does with some off-road use
I was just worried if you were to change the diff fluid or take off the cover it might start. Otherwise I’d only think the leaf springs would be real susceptible. Either way, glad I saw this as I have a CJ5 that could badly use that kind of treatment
I think it will hold up to most fluids. Gas will be the true test
kubota swap ?
Eventually.... I plan to run the factory setup for another year or so while I save up funds for all the required adaptors, motor mounts, and piping for the Kubota swap.
LATEX BASE SO YOU CANT PAIT IT WITHE OIL BASE PAINT RIGHT.
