  • Nothing crazy in this video. I'm just showing how I "restored" the frame of my 1993 S10 on the cheap. Also a quick update on the parts collection

      @@CheekyGarage . Hello CG. I’m late seeing this, and just wanted to say OUTSTANDING work on your frame. The Rustoleum you used is very good, and Coroseal would be fantastic (been using it 14 years) as your primer. The Rustoleum Rust Stop is equally AWESOME and you probably saved yourself 1200 bucks doing it your way vs the blast/powder coated route. What truck are you building? Belated condolences to you ( lost my Dad 3 months ago) and I hope your work situation has picked up. Stay safe, and again , your frame is bad ass ( I did the sandblast and Deltron myself in my chevelle frame in 1984) and it cost me about 400 dollars in blast fees , and doing my own paint. Never again for me as today’s aerosol products are top notch.

Body completely straight motor rebuilt sitting in the garage, I'm going to rebuild it sense I can't find one anywhere for sale and keep the ole truck in the family. Needs the same work your doing, shits got me exited to get it restored. Going to start on it tomorrow get it move to my back yard start breaking it down.

    • @CheekyGarage
      @CheekyGarage  Před 4 lety

      I didn't worry too much about the inside of the frame in the sections that were fully boxed. Aside from surface rust, my frame was rock solid. I got what I could get to, hit the inside with some compressed air, and stuck the spray can in where I could. Again, frame was structurally sound, just made it look nice. Not winning any awards lol

      @@CheekyGarage See, I live on the salt belt and i'v been daily driving my dads old 94 Sonomal. He took DAMN good care of the pant job. He was the text book vehicle owner. BUT, I have out lived the trucks life span. Things have rusted from the inside out. I don't have any major frame damage yet but there is a spot near the front where you mount your bumper. It rusted from the inside out and a section about the size of my thumb just fell out. Same with the hood. Tiny rust bubble, poke it with a knife, i go through the hood and make a hole the size of a dime. I'm paranoid about the backside of metal rusting out.

    • @CheekyGarage
      @CheekyGarage  Před 4 lety

      @@AlphaNerd132 I definitely understand the concern. I'm no professional but my guess would be to have the frame professionally blasted to find out, but if you're going that far, swapping it for a known good frame might be for feasible. I wish I could be of more help

      @@CheekyGarage Ah its fine. When i take the bed and cab off, ill do a good inspection and patch anything. Ill also do some logic work. See where water will pool. Then drill a hole there. And possibly cap off some holes that don't have any logical placement. Also a question, How did your paint job hold up? I'm debating on going with a rattle can back paint coat with a few clear coat layers to give it some material to eat through, or going with the expensive 2 part undercoatings that are tough as hell.
