- Everyone, at one time or another, has been confronted with the moral dilemma of telling the truth to a friend or loved one. Are there caveats to the moral principle of honesty? Are there situations where lying is the right thing to do? In this video, one such dilemma is encountered and the Sanders Sides are all trying to get down to the bottom of what's the truth on lying! This video is a DOOZY. Hope you enjoy!

Still can't believe how differently they sound from each other. I can close my eyes and differentiate between Virgil, Logan, Janus, Roman, and Patton. The fact that they're the same person still blows my mind years later.

The main characters have just been played by a bunch of septuplets for all these years
I didn’t truly appreciate how hard that is until I started playing dnd. Making your different characters have a distinct voice is DIFFICULT
i find that the differences in their voices is actually hilarious cause its just his regular plus a small twist in phrasing and conversation patterns. logan is lowest of the voices with janus. both of them coming from a speech pattern that uses tone to denote seriousness. where janus has flair to over hint deceit while logan more monotone or robotic only changing when becoming more active
virgil the next in line but having a rougher tone and making him sound darker more edgy. denoting being anxiety, a tool used as a defence against social stigma and pain
patton being the most firm and fatherly (given that was his original character before sides became more fleshed out) giving a higher voice cause of his positive demeanor
the highest being roman and remus as they are both creativity and aspirations. remus as impulsive thought and intrusive thought while roman is creative thought and dreams. the main difference is remus having the most flair and actual accent.

Notice how “Patton” was completely ok, even encouraging of Thomas practicing his Deceit. The real Patton wouldn’t allow this at all. Even before the big reveal from Deceit, Patton was more extreme, pushy, manipulative, maybe even smarter than usual.

I’ve noticed that whenever Deceit disguises himself as someone, they never rise up in the same way as the usual Sides. He just appears or rises up in an unusual way. It’s something all Dark Sides do, even Virgil.
Also, Deceit seems to have to continually describe the character that he’s playing in order to make it more believable which is another dead give away.

Rewatching this I think the reason j- deceit called Virgil friendo instead of kiddo is because at the end of accepting anxiety part2 when Roman goes back into Virgil’s room to try and steal his posters, he calls him friendo and j- deceit could have heard and thought that’s something they regularly call Virgil

Janus’ reveal was the BEST reveal in the series in my opinion. I love it so much and the music reflects the character so well
Looking back, knowing 'Patton' is Janus/Deceit, it's interesting to realize how much Thomas foreshadowed.
We never see Patton "rise up", as all the Light sides do. We see him appear, something only the dark sides do.

Unpopular opinion:
Deceit is how Thomas is such a good actor. Think about it: Deceit dressed up and acted like Patton so well, he temporarily fooled everyone, and acting is pretending to be someone/something you are not. Sure Roman, and even Logan contributes by learning and being inspired by others, but Deceit is probably the main reason for the acting skills.

I like the detail when Roman said “The Dark Sides”, Virgil had a weird look on his face. I think it’s because he, having been one of “them”, he didn’t like that naming. He doesn’t, in my opinion, see them as the “Dark” ones. He understands that it’s not all black and white. Heck, he is THAT EXAMPLE, having his character switch, and be seen as both from time to time.

I can’t guarantee I’m correct, but I think another is at 14:37, it’s really subtle too. “Patton” mentions how babies come from messenger falcons, but in the very first SS video Patton establishes that he knows “it has something to do with storks” so perhaps this was another suggestion that this wasn’t really Patton. There are also many other hints throughout the video, this one just stuck out to me for some reason. (Obviously not because I’ve been rewatching all the episodes in order from start to finish while we wait for this virus to pass)

Another good detail is in thomas shirr the whole episode is half and half (half skull of flowers and half white skull) but when deceit reveals it self it's a white skull and when patton is about to come back is a skull of flowers ❤️🥺

I just had a random thought, like I know this wasn’t the intention and it’s probably just cool character design but still, here: What if every time a side goes against their nature they have a marking that spreads. So like every time Janus tells the truth his scales spread. I imagine that Logan’s would look like a computer motherboard.

It's actually part of virgil realizing that deceit was there all along. PATTON wouldn't have to point out that he and virgil are friends, virgil established that over and over in the episodes about accepting anxiety.
