so i just gotta toot a bugle here as an independent wet shaver and product reviewer. i have never talked to geofatboy nor have we ever communicated. this is my first post on any of his videos to my knowledge. i just ordered a Rockwell 6S from shavenation.com in the wee hours of tuesday morning this week. it was sent out that same day from near chicago. i live in north central illinois. 2 days later on thursday it was delivered (post office sent it down to hazelwood missouri to a sorting center then to my place which is standard procedure). I found the price the same as what every other place charges for the Rockwell 6S. I haven't used the razor yet but i am more than pleased with the speed shave nation and geofatboy operate and serve customers. When my rockwell arrived it was in a gift box that was shrink wrapped. that was put in a bag, which was then in turn put in a shipping box, which was then in turn put in a shipping envelope. So it was very well packed to say the least. I can't remember, but i believe it was delivered priority mail. It came in perfect condition, very quickly, and even came with a shave nation sticker which i didn't know i was going to get but will now proudly display somewhere where people will see.
If you're looking to buy any shaving supplies through the mail there's lots of places to go. But i am more than pleased to highly recommend shave nation to anyone for their stellar service.
thank you to geofatboy for making online shopping (something i hate) a little easier for me. From now on your website will be in my bookmarks of places to order from. Also thanks for all your videos which have really helped me (along with some other's youtube videos) to progress in my skill, and knowledge of wet shaving.
I'd like to add that this recommendation I'm writing was not solicited or requested by shave nation or geofatboy himself. Out of my own gumption I'm posting this to encourage anyone on the fence about ordering, to order because they will be satisfied with the service provided by shave nation.
thank you for reading this. and i hope it helps someone else and also the business of shave nation.

Hi Geo been watching your videos and enjoying them for a while now turned to double edge razors about 18 months ago and watched an older video of yours recently (de89)and had to reply having the same experience my go to razor being merkur 34hd I've also had a 37c slant couldn't get along with and even above the tie r1 to much chatter for me against the grain,my 34c was okay but was still searching and a couple of weeks ago ordered the muhle r89 same head as the de89,wow i can't believe the difference i know all the ymmv and all that but I've never had a razor that shaves so well, knife through butter comes to mind,it is just so smooth and efficient and a really nice after shave feeling,i just wasn't expecting it to be so good the head just seems so much better than the merkur and I can't see myself wanting to use anything else.Keep up the good work great videos regards Martin

I think they produce the plates 1/3 and not 1/2 , because they are selling the razor as Rockwell 2S too. It has only this plate in it. If they produce 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 they have to make the plate especially for the 2S.
I think that could be the reason...
    Thanks for the great Video!!!

This would have been my 2nd pick, but I opted to go for the Feather AS-D2 as my first safety razor - it really is a fine piece of art. The biggest difference was the slim profile of the head on the Feather for under the nose had me sold versus the Rockwell 6S' larger head.

  • @WormyLeWorm
    @WormyLeWorm Před 4 lety

Astras are also my blade of choice; nothing else has been as long-lasting and yet super sharp and still forgiving in my experience. Even shaving my whole body I end up replacing the blade only due to bacterial concerns rather than loss of sharpness unlike other esteemed blades like feather which never seemed to work too well or long on my skin or hair. 1/3 the cost with Astras too. Tempted to get one of these eventually... I upgraded from a merkur 23c to a Futur and really like how much closer of a shave I can get with it and don't think I'll ever look back from more aggressive razors now that I got used to it. Funny how immediately my 23c felt like it was so easy mode to use and so careful to my skin once I used the futur on 5/6 for a few days. I have very thick hair that's like hard needles, and also don't like spending so much time going over the same areas. With my 23c my neck always had stubble and I never knew it could get smooth.
I like that the Futur has less pieces than the Rockwell 6S, but I like that the 6S has knurling and the head makes it seem like it's easier to tell where the blade really is. I have trouble doing some precise shaving with the futur at times, and that's really tempting me to try out the 6S once I'm comfortable committing to the cost. Love the really wide gap/trough on the futur that makes it feel like I hardly have to rinse it as well. I get a lot more done more swiftly.
Both beautiful looking razors, but I think the 6S has a more classic look I adore. I just wonder how close it can get compared to the futur I'm growing used to.

The 1/3, 2/4, 5/6 configuration stems from the fact that their 2c series used 1/3 - it is a continuation of that standard, and allows for the company to use the 1/3 guard for either their 2c or 6c, and in respect of the 6s, just to continue with that established standard. With respect your gripe is a minor nitpick, whereas the standard they adopted was well thought out in many facets. Cheers.

Love the vids, I am considering taking up DE shaving after years of using an electric shaver. Some advise would be good and appreciated, I have been researching and was looking at the EJ DE89 black 3d diamond, as this appears to be a good starter DE. But have read good reviews about the Rockwell 6s. I appreciate there is a slight price difference, but I suffer with sensitive skin and have suffered with eczema in the past and appreciate any advise. I am a daily shaver.. I would appreciate any advise and understand it can be down to personal preference, but you appear to have good knowledge about DE razors, but not necessarily about eczema, so understand if that may be difficult.. Cheers.

I was wondering if you would/could do a video about all of your absolute favorite products of each shaving necessity (DE razors, safety razors, straight razors, etc.) I recall from a previous video that the TOBS sandalwood is a favorite of yours and I would be lying if I said that knowing that didn't affect my decision to buy some recently. But I have a goatee, and when I use the Futur, my goatee expands, and I find it a little difficult to keep it trimmed back without an electric trimmer. Do you have any tips on keeping a goatee trimmed back with a safety razor?
    Best Regards,
    Tom Aaron

The 6S is one of my all time fave razors. Easy to use and a plate to suite everyone. I call it a configurable rather than adjustable.

Just bought one of these, havent received it yet. Is 2 really more aggressive than 3? Thought it was just done that way for practicality purposes.

Hmmm... Looking at buying the 6C or 6S.
I'm using a Parker open comb razor, which always irritates my neck.
And personally I prefer the Fine Accoutrements Sandalwood over the Proraso. Just a touch more finesse.
The Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood aftershave is another story. Very very nice smell which stays on for hours.
    Thanks for the Vid Geofatboy!

I was thinking of getting the Rockwell or the Henson. Right now I'm just reviewing and see which is the better choice. I like the fact the Henson has ports for ease of cleaning the blades.

I've wath a lot of video from you , I've been using gilette cartridge rasor for about 20 years and now since 1 month I'm using DE safety razor to cult price of shaving my beard !!! I've bought as my first rasor Rockwell R1 because I didn't wont to pay much for my 1st razor in case I didn't like the wet shaving !!!
My question is wich razor would you suggest me between rockwell 6c and merkur 34c or maybe something better for my sensitive skin because I get a lot of razor cut and my skin burn if I shave my beard against the grain !!!

Nice review! My Rockwell is my favorite razor. While watching one of your videos, my grandson asked, "Why do you like watching that guy shave?" I had to explain. Part of it is the review, but I have to admit I just like watching you shave.

Everyone keeps telling me how great the Rockwell 6s is, might have to go ahead and get one. I’ve also thought about buying a Simpsons “Chubby” but is it worth it? I’ve recently been using a Commodore X2 but really what’s the difference between the both other than handles?

I checked my 6S with a magnet. It is strongly attracted by the knurled parts and almost no attraction to the smooth areas. Seems like two different metals.

I’m thinking of getting the 6S, which of the 6 plates would be comparable to the EJ DE89? That my current razor. It’s fine as a daily but too mild if I have a few days growth so I’m looking for some thing more aggressive.
