One of the major titles released to promote the PS5 was Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It is a sequel / DLC of the 2018 Spider-Man game - so of course, we have to cover it! I think that Peter and miles’s stories will branch off. Miles will stay back and defend New York, maybe fighting the lizard. But Peter in his next game will do everything that matpat said. So like I think miles could fight lizard if he has a sequel. Plus the fact that you said people wore costumes (in New York) means that he is likely a New York villain and miles will fight him

i think the game will start from when pete gets called to symkaria and uses mj as a distraction to not worry miles, then after that is resolved, we come back to ny and fight venom or whatever he has in store, maybe like freeing the other villains?

It looks like the villain for the next game will be Kraven and it will either Kraven's Last Hunt or if we still want to go with the army idea, the recent Hunted storyline.

In the first game however, there are hints that lizard has already been fought (maybe not curt). This doesnt deny lizard being in the next game, but I'd be surprised if they just swept it under the rug as if spiderman never saw A lizard b4.

imagine the army vs army, BUT ALSO, Lizard vs Venom and you have to do smth about it.
This theory also works in a sense that if Peter ends up going to the new map, it could be a potential reason for Miles to not necessarily be in the game, I hope he is cause that would be awesome, but if they’re focusing on just Peter it’s an easy excuse for the new Spider-Man to all of a sudden not be around

the developers did a really good job in building up for the next game it could go in many different ways they can do many crossovers but i am not sure about playing in a different location. They can still add a lot of activities in NY I don't think they will take us to a completely new location they might just expand or update the map.

Even though this theory didn't come true I still think this would be an amazing plot for Spider-Man 3. Just replace Venom with Dr Octopus from the post credit scene and it could still work.

Venom isn’t exactly a mindless brute in all incarnations either- so I can see a plot point of Pete trying to talk him down, and then them joining forces. And if we do perspective swap again and the F4 are in the game, all of the F4 are capable of traveling in the air similarly to Pete, with Ben jumping, Johnny and Susan can both fly, and Reed can catapult and swing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they also gave Taskmaster a comeback. It's possible that Doom could've hired him in the first game to monitor Spider-Man, or some other secret villain that would appear in Spider-Man 2.
My thoughts on the matter: DLCs are to be expected for Spider-Man PS4/5 2. Taskmaster was hired to inspect Spidey, which could lead to Taskmaster's return. Not only that, but it's possible that we could see some more villains for side-quests and the potential DLC story, like Kraven the Hunter since Tombstone made an appearance for a side-quest mission line. If they don't make Taskmaster a villain, they could always add him to the story as a form of assistance, like they did with Black Cat in the DLCs for the first game.
If they do make Harry turn into Venom, then he could be a major league villain, before Spidey beats him, with Doom possibly taking Harry to experiment on cause of his power. That, or Norman turns on Spider-Man and unleashes the Goblin Army to hunt down Spider-Man and kill him. Of course this is all speculation, and I just want to see how this could work and see some more additional villains, both side-story and main story.
Anyone else think the same way?
Fun fact: The spider which bit Miles having the number 42 on its back, as well as 42 being Miles' lottery number is a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

So, coming to this finally, and now knowing some of the things that are gonna happen (though no full release of the story yet), we know that there is gonna be Venom, and also apparently Kraven (who may only play a smaller part), though it doesn't quite seem like Peter and Miles leave New York, at least not yet, so its possible they travel the seas to deal with the Goblin and Doom armies

With Spider-man 2 now out, in hindsight, we know none of this is true anymore XD
However, the hints are still present, and we are getting a Spider-man 3 - Goblin is basically confirmed via a post-credits scene, and Dr. Doom is entirely plausible (if SM3 will be the final one, it makes sense they'd save the biggest bad for such)

When you realize insomniac has a concept idea for Doctor Doom
I feel like we're gonna get a new Sinister Six.
It's clear we're getting Venom and Goblin, and in the reveal trailer we can hear Kraven. With Curt Connors in both post credits scenes it seems like they're hinting to adding Lizard.
Like you theorized, Doctor Doom. But I also think Rhino will return. We never saw what happened to him after Phin attacked him.
I believe the main villains of the sequel will be the Sinister Six, consisting of Doctor Doom, Venom, Rhino, Kraven, Green Goblin, and the Lizard
How great would it be if they incorporated a bit of the Nemesis system from Middle-Earth Shadow of War into Venom? Like for example Venom will appear at a random point in the game and recount what happened between the two of you in the previous fight - if you beat him, he'd be more aggressive with visible wounds depending on the way you used to defeat him, but if he won the previous fight he'd make fun of how badly you performed.
That would honestly be so good, and also that would let them add every villain from the sinister six ever. You would need to take down every single one to complete the game

Add on to the theory: At first Peter Parker thinks he can handle it, can’t then calls Myles Morales to help him, potentially bringing us 2 player gameplay, or for single players switching between characters.
Oh that would be awessooomme. Remember from the first game how we could play as MJ but could also see fake in-game Spider Man take out the Demons and hang them from the ceiling? It would be cool if they could pull that off and polish it with both the Spider Mans (Spider Men?)

It could get messy depending on circumstances, but with how Black Cat worked, it wouldn’t really need THAT much polishing.
Or one where Peter is in Symkaria dealing with Doom and Goblin while Miles is in New York dealing with Venom

The only way I can see reed and venom is that spider man ask reed to help osborn control the suit and have venom as a playable character
Here’s a theory: Harry gets freed and starts out normal but then starts going sicko mode (venom) and Peter has to fight him. After a fight peter gets the symbiote and the game probably would introduce Eddie around then. Peter would become more aggressive and Miles would notice that. While that’s going on Harry will still be dying but at a faster rate without the symbiote, Norman would start to hate spider-man and start working on a serum that would heal Harry. In a rush he’d test it on himself and become the goblin. He’d fight peter and the rest idk.

i had a theory that at some point Peter would put on the venom suit, because since miles stepped up the game by adding camouflage and bio-elcetricity into the game, playing as normal Peter would be a step down

Sure, but, he's not the only Symbiote. Carnage, Riot, Scream, many more. I don't know, maybe this will be the new spin to top the Sinister 6, a symbiotic parasite unleashed by Harry Osborn as Venom to bring NYC to it's knees, with a few gaining unique powers on level with the original Venom. You wanted a new plague and bad guy team up, this does deliver.
EDIT: I know the Symbiotes do their own thing most of the time, almost all of them hate each other anyways. It's just a theory. Anything could be possible. I'm just thinking of it like them rampaging all around, not working together or caring about each other's existences at all but being a collective threat.
He is the ONLY Venom. Venom, like Carnage, Riot, Scream and the entirety of Venomverse is centered around Symbiotes, and an entire can of worms Insomniac is not headed to open right now.

@Suhayl Clarke Toxin can take out Carnage and Venom by himself, this would mean that power balance in favor of the good guys which usually is the other way around.
Carnage, Riot, Lasher, Toxin and ect. arent Venoms, they're symbiote and are a species known as the Klyntar and they are enemies of Venom. Furthermore all of the symbiotes that you mentioned are offspring of Venom
Matpat does amazing amounts of several different kinds of research to arrive at his optimized theories. I have a feeling that movie and game writers take notes on his ideas; either to make their stories better for fans AND/OR to show them whether or not their clues are TOO predictable....or if they don't have enough clues for their ideas to make sense.
A good example of not enough evidence is Harry as Venom. The evidence is ABSOLUTELY there for the character to play that role.....but there isn't enough to say whether he will be good....evil....or even possibly an entirely separate playable story! There's also the possibility that since Venom is around.....are there any other symbiotes planned for action? (of course, Carnage seems a little too ambitious for the moment, but Scream and Riot could be in planning.) Another interest is through the fact that Mister Negative was already in the first game.....which could lead Harry to NOT becoming Venom.....but Anti-Venom instead!
Kraven wasn't even considered, guess this didn't age well, and it seems the symbiote latches onto Peter pretty early in the game, so Harry as Venom seems to be out of the picture as well. Also, Lizard is now a confirmed new villain, which was also not mentioned unfortunately. Dr. Doom and Green Goblin are villains I COULD see happening, but I doubt Dr. Doom would be part of the story with three villains already being confirmed so far: Venom, which I assume will still be Eddie Brock (and very possibly Harry Osborn as an early game boss), as the Venom movie is too big for it not to be imo, Kraven, as we saw him in multiple trailers so far, and the Lizard, as Dr. Connors, confirmed in dialogue in the gameplay trailer. I could also see some villains from the X-Men as maybe some possible dlc or even main story villains, what with the Wolverine game as another flagship title being put under Insomniac's very capable belt.
Venom can still be Harry when Miles beats up Peter the Symbiote will go back to Harry.

I think they’re doing the reverse of what I wanted in Raimi’s SM3. Harry should’ve been Venom in that film because he already blamed Peter for Norman’s death, then you could’ve had parallels about forgiveness between Harry/Peter & Peter/Sandman. I predict the Insomniac version will be the opposite with Harry dying at the end of SM2 & then Norman going insane & becoming the Green Goblin & final boss of SM3.
That way Spidey’s Big 3 rogues (Doc-Ock, Venom, GG) will all get a proper villain origin arc in each game. I bet Gwen Stacy gets introduced in SM2 & they tease her iconic death in SM3 or possibly pull a swerve with MJ taking the fall instead (literally), plus Connors will probably become The Lizard at some point during the Oscorp experiments & Kraven will be hunting him down. Black Suit Spidey can slip back into a Black Cat relationship that becomes too toxic & scary, even for her.
I’m curious how Wraith will respond to angry Peter. Miles will let go of his vengeance towards Mr. Negative, but has to stop Peter from finishing off Kraven after being buried alive (Kraven’s Last Hunt). Peter strikes Miles out of rage then finally tries to snap out of it but the symbiote starts permanently taking control & Miles has to fight a brutal Spidey before finally getting the alien off with his bio-electricity.
If they follow the comics, Peter’s spider sense shouldn’t be able to detect Venom after bonding with it which would be great for Man-Bat Arkham-style jumpscare ambushes. I could see Kraven capturing the symbiote in the end as his real trophy, or they could do an anti-hero Venom spin-off introducing Eddie Brock, preferably Rated M because of how vicious that character can be.

7:16 something i would like to add as another possible Green Goblin foreshadowing moment
In the final scene of PS4 Spiderman, when we finally see Norman’s motivation for devils breath, he’s bathed in the *green* light of the tank, as he leans against the glass in pain
This is also the moment when Harry reaches out his hand as well, foreshadowing venom. As you said, these games tend to have atleast two villains, so it would be cool to see that Venom and Green Goblin were foreshadowed in the same shot right at the end :0
So, I like your theory, but one small edit:
What if Venom plays a role sort of like The Prowler in Miles Morales? Not necessarily a hero or villain, but has encounters with Spiderman. So, he might help out one of the sides, Doom or Goblin, but doesn't entirely side with either one. And he could team up or fight Spiderman.
(I would compare him to someone from the first Spiderman game, but I can't think of anyone, the only flaw in my edit/theory)
