    • @DTux5249

It was one of the scariest moments in global history. One of the worst earthquakes in recorded history
7.7 magnitude earthquake on All Saint's Day morning; when everyone was at church, paying respect to dead love ones. For 6 minutes, people were running towards the shoreline to avoid being crushed by falling buildings. Less than an hour after the tremors started, a Tsunami engulfed the entirety of the harbour and downtown. 2 more waves came in after that. And if that wasn't enough, candles lit for All Saint's Day lit wooden wreckages inland ablaze, and created a massive firestorm that burned for hours, suffocating people who were hiding/trapped.
35,000 people died in the span of a few hours. A world-spanning empire brought to its knees on a holy holiday.
While this scene is rather short, and could've been much darker, it captures the mayhem perfectly.

The fact that to the shore to be safe in an earthquake really shows how much Ubisoft gaming team cared about making this game.
This awful chapter in Portugal history is mainly known about the fact that a huge portion of Lisbon population tried going to the shore so that they could be safe of collapsing buildings and fires, only to be hit by the biggest tsunami ever recorded in europe history books.

If you ever lived a true earthquake and not just some seismic activity, this level tells you that you do have a trauma, very shocking considering that this was an ACTUAL earthquake and one of the deadliest ones, because of it's magnitude and specially it's duration, when a long earthquake it's around just 1 minute, this one happened MORE than 3 minutes, and could've be even 6.

And Lisbon because was so density populated (Commerce from Brazil, Goa-India, Africa, etc) and because was the Day of Saints and every church have lots of lighted on candles, this meaning a lot of fires that kill more than the earthquake himself.
