joe the interior infotainment and lack of gloss black and touch screen controls has made this car a major contender for me. wow what a major improvement.
Seriously what were they thinking with thay huh?
I have the 2023 Santa Cruz Limited and absolutely LOVE the new updates. Gorgeous and so fun to drive. I accidentally took mine off-road after GPS rerouted me due to an accident and ended up in the forest on a forest ranger track plowing through 6" of sugar sand. Locked the diff and this little truck went through like it was nothing. So impressive. 😍
That is so fantastic to hear!
My wife bought a new 2022 fully loaded, hasn't given her any problems in the 2 years she's owned it.
My buddy called mine, "a barbie truck" I agreed, but get over 30 mpg!! Lmao
But at the end of the day it's still a Barbie truck👎
@@atg1338and your diesel still doesn’t make your 3 inch pickle any bigger.
Nice, getting 42 mpg in our maverick hybrid. Let the haters hate, you and I are laughing all the way to the bank.
@@atg1338if you dislike the truck so much why are you here?
@@lavapop1900 Last time i checked i'm free to look at whatever i want and say whatever i want.
You're hitting that auto show really hard Joe. Appreciate it greatly!
HUGE improvement over the first gen, even as a refresh. They must have listened to feedback well. I still want to see it in the green color
This vehicle design can narrow down a clutter of options ranging from pickups, crossovers, and compact vehicle. Its really overlooked imo and this redesign is leaps ahead over last gen. I love it
This is probably the best car+SUV+truck type vehicle out there.
looks very nice, but without a hybrid version they are seriously missing the mark...especially for a 2025 model.
2023 HSC owner. 2.5 NA SEL trim. I really love the truck and use it to it's full capacity. I threw roof rails on for kayaks, haul trailers and generally have a blast with it. This seems improved, yes, but I've heard varying opinions of the Turbo paired with the 8 speed DCT - not all good.
There may not be enough different for me to jump into a new model. However, if Hyundai keeps this up, they're going to be converting a lot of truck fans to the Sport Adventure Vehicle side.
Love the new updates! No more touch sensative buttons and the new infotainment is really nice. Only thing I'm still waiting on is for them to make a hybrid version. That's the only leg up that the maverick has FOR ME
I agree. They need a hybrid. The Tucson has one, and it's not a stretch to put it in the Santa Cruz.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Digging the blaze orange...thnx for another awesome information vehicle video...
That will be 42 thousand plus tip!
Canyon Red unless something has changed.
The Santa Cruz looks bolder than before, with a new front end that puts it in line with the refreshed 2025 Tucson SUV on which it's based. There are also flashy new wheel designs. Two new paint colors are offered (Rockwood Green and Canyon Red) along with a new Medium Gray hue for the seats.
This review can be on the Top 10 funniest reviews by Mr. Raiti 😄
Amazing coverage with giggles throughout 😅
I like the orange and black (they play off each other) but the Santa Cruz is built more like a stubby ElCamino or Ranchero than a pickup truck and those didn't sell very well either and neither is the Santa Cruz. Ford Maverick sales for 2023 were around 95,000 , Santa Cruz sales were barely over 20,000 for 2023. The price at $43k doesn't scream 'value'.
Bullseye !
Thanks for that, nice color!!
Keep doing what you do..😁👍
hilarious. And this man always does such long takes! Been watching for many years now.
i sat in one at the philly auto show....great drivers seat cockpit, really did a great job.....very smooth design from hyuandi
That new dash is a major step up from the 1st gen digital dash...still prefer the dash with actual gauges.
Love the color !
I wouldn’t change a thing, loving this Santa Cruz even the color.
I had a stinger and now have a kona n--I have never had any maintnence problems with any of them and took the stinger to public drag several times. The only unscheduled repair was a software update on the konas dct and they ubered me to olive garden then ubered me back after it was done--less then 1 hour.I ebike now and this might be my next vehicle so I can take my bike and goto remote areas. The only cars that have problems from kia/hyundai are lower level base models and that is common with any brand. The owners manual even says tha the Kona N keeps its warranty even if you track the car.
Love this!
Vehicles 'sold'
Ford Maverick; 240,000 (projected to pass 100,000 units for 2024)
Hyundai Santa Cruz; 92,000 (projected to maintain current numbers 25,000 to 30,000 for 2024)
Like you mentioned the Santa Cruz is basically a Tucson without a trunk lid.
I want one! Thank you for your presentation.
What are those latch looking thing on teh wheel well and does it have blind spot cameras
?
Love that color 🔥😍
I remember years ago when this was still a concept back in the 2010s
I really love it and the color as well
One thing is for sure it does have alot of personality
Man, I don’t usually comment, but this car looks stunning. I could see it being perfect for young couples who enjoy road trips but also want something more flashy and futuristic-kind of like a compact version of the Rivian R1T
Except it costs a gazillion dollars. No young couple should be financing 60k (in Canada) for a Santa Cruz
love my SC. the only truck most 99% americans need
Wrong... more then 1% actually use a truck to tow or work out of. Been in construction for over 30 yrs and none of my guys could this joke of a SUV
@@atg1338 I don't think the guys you met in construction account for more than 1% of the population.

That thing is lovely !!!
The only issue is the roll up tonneau cover. They can freeze up in cold weather, and they gobble up bed space. Sold mine and installed a soft roll up cover that has worked well. It is good they got rid of the dual clutch tranny. I have to say, my 2.5 naturally aspirated SC runs just fine, and it will tow 5000LBS as well. Would love to see this truck in a candy lime.
2 things it must have for me, all wheel drive and a nice moonroof
It has both
Looks cool
I think this thing looks great!
You mention controlling the DCT in both the aspirated 2.5L and turbo 2.5L. The aspirated 2.5L has used a normal 8 speed not a 8 speed DTC has this changed for 2025?
Wireless charging, ventilated seats?
Had been waiting for this truck for so many years. I ended up caving in 2018 and got a Sante Fe Sport. It's my 3rd Hyundai, big fan. Looking at a 2024 Sonata now, since it will be gone next year. The N Line does 0-60 in about 5 seconds. Nice. Let me tell you, I built a wooden fence for our animals and easily got fifteen 6.5 ft posts in my Santa Fe. Then got about twenty 8 & 10 ft boards in, with the back closed. Definitely cannot do this with the Santa Cruz unless it has roof racks. I am also a big fan of the huge panoramic roof on my Santa Fe. Since they put one on the small Veloster and the 2013 Elantra GT Hatchback (which I had), and Tucson also, why not on the Santa Cruz? At least put a one panel wider one like they are just doing now on the Kona. And why only black seats in many of the Hyundais now? At least put a stripe or some colorful piping on them. LOL I know, minor things. Hopefully they also come out with a hybrid to compete with Ford Maverick.
Lori great job
She is the best in the BIZ!
I do enjoy your presentation 😂❤🎉 you are really a nice actor. A king kong catcher 😅 lovely
I just wish they gave you a choice of interior color other than black. They fixed all of the short comings of the last model...physical buttons, all in one infotainment and instrument cluster, air vents in the back seat and an armrest in the back. I would have liked to see then get rid on the console transmission shifter. Overall, this is high on the list now.
I agree on the interior....I mean WTH? ONE choice....is no choice. LOL At least they used to have grey and grey with orange piping.
Orange seems to be the trend from automakers
Genesis Santa Cruz Magma?
Those wheels are pretty cool
No heated or ventilated seats in front? Or do they turn on with the car? And also looks like not included in back either
Heated fronts only on XRT. Limited gets ventilated. I forget if XRT gets the heated wheel but Limited definitely does.
Hmm, I like it. This could be my next truck, but I think it's a different color. Thanks for show.
So, the DCT issue is going to be on all trims now?
Did they fix the transmission issue?
Hey Joe, I vote yes to some colorized (orange) stitching on the dashboard. And what happened to your finger? Get it caught in the cup holder? 😂
That orange definitely reminds me of genesis magma, looking super sharp. This is tough but the Cruz definitely checks more boxes than the Maverick
The Santa Cruz is my dream truck
It's a great truck, I own one. Sel premium awd.
@@trinubisataurus Same , Blue/Grey interior. I actually ordered a Maverick a week after they were unveiled , waited months and got tired of it. Investigate Santa Cruzes more closely and got my deposit back from Ford. A much nicer vehicle imho. A keeper.
3 in 1,a car an suv a pickup, very good.
You hit the nail on the head.
Reminds me of the subaru brat. Looks great
A plug in hybrid version of this would be nice...
Vast improvement is styling. The lack of hybrid option it what will limit it.
The color from my research is Canyon Red. My brother said it looks red in person as he has already seen it.
Maybe the lighting makes it look orange or maybe its a blend of orange and red. But I just did a google search and can't find anything that says they are making a Blaze Orange. If I am wrong please let me know.
Definitely a unique opportunity for the buyer, it is up to end user needs whether it works!
i'll take one in black!
Hey what's happening Joel i love the colors it's has that is perfect 😊😊
hey Philip! Thanks for tuning in!
XRT sounds more like my Dewalt impact drill but looks like the 1970s subaru brat . Is this the one that needs transmissions every 30K ? 😂😂😂
That truck is off the chain but they should added led fog lights
Realistically, how often are you going to use fog lights? A couple of weeks out of the whole year?
Truck🤣🤣🤣🤣 not
It looks good
I am so glad that you are liking this Santa Cruz!
Nice Car
I give it a 👍
actually, i would love to see cars like holden maloo gts again....2 doors lowrider pickup is lovely.
Looks great…deal breaker is the no memory seat adjustment and the manual passenger seat
That is very understandable.
If for any reason my reserved Tacoma deal falls through this may be one of my backup choices. Great review as always
Don't do it. Hyundai "reliability " is horrendous.
Looks great.... but I hate that steering wheel... Atl east use the one from the Palisade or new Santa Fe
This would be a must buy if it was a hybrid
No
I agree. I was really hoping that they would have released a hybrid version for 2025...
Get the maverick
I'm not sure if limited has changed with more options, but why doesn't the Santa cruz come with the same options as the tucson !!! I have the 2022 limited tucson and didn't buy the Santa Cruz because of a lack of options !!! Just doesn't make any sense !!! This is my fourth hyundai since 2007, I love the blue link and hoping palisade will get a hybrid version. Or I'll look at the new Santa fe.
I don't know if it's better, but it certainly looks 😎
You are right about that!
Thank goodness they removed the old grill design that looked like a piece of art people would have displayed in their living room 🙌👏
Cmon Joe, tell us when the model 3 performance is debuting?
Really wish these and the maverick would come as a manual transmission too
How honda should have did the Ridgeline
Is that Red or Orange? Sorry I have audio muted while at work, just seen the video pop up 😅
Rear diff lock?.
No just center diff
@@RaitisRides-Ok.
This is the truck!! Awesome I love it 😍
Is the color red or orange?
It is orange
I like it! Duh. lol. I would buy this and I'm not even a truck kind of guy.
great little SUV if you're 5 foot 5.
According to the sales report published by the Ford Motor Company for the United States market, the Maverick moved 94,058 examples of the breed in 2023. By comparison, the Hyundai Santa Cruz lags behind with merely 36,675 deliveries to its name.Jan 4, 2024
I enjoyed doing this one. I think this blows the Maverick out of the water for design.
An suv with a bed... at least the ford isn't that
@@atg1338 I’m just saying strictly styling. This setup is still practical for many though.
@@Benscarreviews gotcha
@@atg1338 But it is, based on Escape.
@@atg1338Lmaoo dude the ford maverick is a ford escape with the bed. Literally built on the suv platform… also shared with the bronco sport
It’s not actually orange but it’s called canyon red.
Its wierd that the Tuscons interior is actually better than this one although the difference is ones a pick up and ones a cross over suv
Yes!! It’s a Hyundai El Camino
You know, joe, you could start it up inside if it wasn't relying on an old school gas engine...
its funny nobody didnt think honda ridgeline was a truck. lol. but now the segment has two automaker taking the small/compact truck market. with cost of living increase people look into these two type of trucks.
In my opinion, since i have a 2022 hyundai santa cruz sel premium awd, this 2025 version needs to be thrown out. I like the color but that's it. I don’t mind change, but after 3 years with little to no major body changes, they pick this design. The front lights are too truck like. The reason i like the hyundai santa cruz is that it doesn't look like every other compact truck on the road. Now, with this design decision, it does. I'll stick with my 2022 for now. Also thats way too much screen and i don't like that they are connected. But the rear cup holders would have been nice on the first year models.
5:12 - it's a baby cot rather than a bed (okay, good for twins)...
Anyway, bring compact trucks to EU, please!
They male it electric with 350 mile range, I'd buy immediately. Would also like to see the tailgate open from the side like the ridgeline.
Why not just buy a Ridgeline Scott?
@@RaitisRides did that twice. liked the old design better. couldn't bring myself to go to the new design.
I think it’s not considered a truck. I believe a truck has to have a straight axel. The theory is a straight axle Can tow and pull and handle lots of weight as an independent cannot. Especially in the bed. It’s more of a hybrid.
Bro is covering every vehicle inside and out of the building
Yes, but not as good as future similarly priced Rivian small truck (I'm sure). Reaching...I know.
I am not a truck person at all. But this truck is so beautiful! It makes me want to morph into an outdoorsy person lol.
Wayyy too much money for that. Still loving my maverick lariat preorder from 2.5 yrs ago, $31k! 0 issues to date with functionality, although the infotainment system could be better.
Those clear plastic headlight covers won't last a month in New York
It's still not a hybrid. The Santa Cruz would edge over the Maverick if it had a hybrid option. Pity
Maybe next time.
Able to compete with a ford Maverick.
