    For anyone stating that the Santa cruz needs a "longer bed" or " needs to be bigger" your clearly missing the point of this vehicle and are in the wrong segment size.
    If the Santa cruz was bigger

      This was my argument with the ford Maverick but good God this thing has a smaller bed than the Maverick. At a certain point you really don't have a truck or reason to buy these things. I think size wise the ford maverick is perfect. Smaller and potentially cheaper than a mid size truck but still enough room to use it as a truck. The fact that the Maverick is only outselling it 3:1 amazes me. I expected at least 5:1 when they both launched, based solely on perceptions of Hyundai as a "cheap car" company and Ford being a "truck" company. Ultimately, while the two are competitors by segment, they have very distinct niches within that segment. I still absolutely LOVE my early '22 Ultimate after nearly 100,000km (60,000 miles) and quite like the updated grille and color options. Oh man, how I wish that Canyon Red was available on the 22s!! The interior updates address a lot of the early buyer complaints too ... rear seat arm rest and the lack of buttons/knobs/wireless CP and AA on the top trims. Folks will still be mad about the lack of memory seats, like in the Tucson. I'm not going to early upgrade my Cruz, but if the lottery fairy were to stop by, I'd cheerfully pre-order one in Canyon Red and have two in the driveway! :D

      The blocky DRL are worse than previous years. They closed off the grill more because of complaints of road debris putting holes in people's radiators. They needed to raise the headlights more in the fender if they weren't going to change the whole assembly. This was there chance to move the headlights to the top two DRL spots and still maintain the "look" they established and they blew it.

      Maverick needs to make the AWD variant hybrid as well. The Maverick is also a lot cheaper than this thing. At least in Canada.

      @@konos3951, just did a "middle of the road" online build for Maverick XLT hybrid. It came up to $35k (U.S.). That would be about $40k at the dealer.

    Why does Toyota take foreeeeeever to redesign or upgrade their vehicles? For eg: when was the last time Sienna was upgraded? Just slow and almost non-noticeable changes only.

    • @vinyfiny
      @vinyfiny Před 4 měsíci +5

      Their sales don't seem to decline much year to year even with older designs, so they don't bother spending the money or time to update frequently.

      @@dtay8913 Actually I think it's "If it ain't broke don't fix it." Toyota is a company whose primary goal is to make money. There's no reason for them to spend money and resources redesigning cars every 3 years that are already selling well. If you don't want to buy one there's plenty of other options. I'm just explaining why Toyota seldom does redesigns; they don't have to🤷‍♂️.

    Honestly, I think all the changes are either meh or useless. I'm glad there's less piano black. The Ford is just entirely better than this. It's cheaper, has a higher MPG model, a bigger bed, and the turbo isn't burdened by a fragile transmission. Hopefully Hyundai fixes all this with the 2nd gen.

    • @Michael-1337
      @Michael-1337 Před 3 měsíci

      To be fair the transmission in the Maverick was never designed for a small truck and it is operating just above its torque specifications. There are plenty of people who have blown that transmission up prematurely.
