  • In this video, I take a little ride on a ferry boat and car camp overnight at a free lakeside campground on Francois Lake, close to Burns Lake, BC. I had to whole place to myself!! I prepare a simple meal using my Thrive Life Freeze Dried Food and enjoy some peace and solitude.

    My 2nd channel - LITTLE CABIN IN THE YUKON
    When I'm not traveling in an RV or at home working on an RV, I'm usually at our remote, off grid log cabin in the Yukon. My husband and I have had this cabin for over 20 years and love it. If you'd like a look into that part of my life, I have a channel showing how we live there, lots of beautiful scenery and wildlife. So much of what I learned living off grid at the cabin has come in handy living in an off grid RV! The link is here-

    Wow, what a beautiful place to spend time. And thank you for the cooking lesson. That was wonderful on how to do the reconstituting of your food. I really enjoyed this video. It was so much fun.

      Thanks for watching! The Thrive Life food is really handy for car camping. It doesn’t need to be kept cold and you only cook up what you need. Plus it’s so tasty!

    Always fun to take a ferry ride. Man that lake is gorgeous! Crazy you’re getting it to yourself. Such a great idea to take freeze dried food. If I had a freeze dryer, I would totally do this for our overlanding trips. Love seeing your little fur babies. Think it’s great how they travel along with you. Great shot of your pupster by the lake. Thanks for sharing your trip.

      Hey Felix! Thanks for watching! I take the ferry a lot! My family lives on an Island and the ferry is the way to get there, lol! Sadly, it's not a free ride, like the fresh water ones here in BC. But it's still a nice 2 hour trip! I would LOVE a freeze dryer! But they are soooo expensive! Like RIDICULOUSLY!!! My friend bought one ($$$) and freeze dries stuff she buys at the store, which to me is silly. I just buy mine already freeze dried from Thrive Life or Walmart. Much cheaper!
      The furbies are great travellers, and enjoy these trips as much as I do. Hope your summer is off to a great start!

    I can’t even imagine being able to find the spots that you do. Absolutely gorgeous! I love seeing Gracie in your videos😊 That is what I want..an adventure cat! lol The Whiskey Jacks we very interesting. So very blue! Our blue jays in Maine are beautiful, but not the deep bright blue like yours. Love your videos! Safe travels❣️

      Hi Brenda! Check out the iOverlander app. It’s very helpful for finding spots to camp or just park overnight. We use it a lot.
      Gracie is definitely a unique cat. She fears nothing. She growls when she sees a person approaching the car! Lol!
      The Whiskey Jacks are so fun!! They will feed out of your hand in some places.The Blue Jays are bossier and tend to chase off other birds. We enjoy watching them all though❤️

      Welcome!! I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos! I love Alaska! Mu husband and I took our then 4 kids on a road trip through the state years ago. We loved it so much my husband, who was a Mountie here in BC, looked in to moving to Alaska and working in law enforcement there. It was way too complicated, so we had to contend with just visiting.
      Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a nice comment!-Sue

    Ok, that was cool watching you use the Thrive. I have some yet to use. I'll go back on your channel to find your Car camper build. I have a Highlander and am thinking that I could turn it into a camper for one. Love your frying pan bowl.

    That's like the ferry between the islands on Haida Gwaii when I was there in the 80s, first come, first serve. Nice campsite.👍

    • @HoneyandMe
      @HoneyandMe  Před 22 dny +1

      I have a trip to Haida Gwai, (which I still mostly call the Queen Charlotte Islands, lol) on my bucket list. I've taken the ferry from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy many times, but have never managed a trip out to the islands. I am amazed that the ferry between the islands is free though! I don't know of any other salt water ferry that is free in BC. I grew up in Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, and cringe every time I go visit family at the ferry costs. Then, if you want to visit one of the islands off of Vancouver Island, it's also another fee. Seems strange that the one between the Haida Gwai Islands is free.
      Thanks for watching and hope you're having a great summer so far!

      @HoneyandMe As I remember it in the 1980s, it was free and no bookings, but things might have changed. I got to see and photograph the Golden Spruce before it got cut down. I flew in and rented a car, so I spent a lot of time on the South island. That was one of my most favourite trips ever, NFLD trips are up there, too.

    • @HoneyandMe
      @HoneyandMe  Před 22 dny +1

      @NorthernRetreat Oh wow! ❤️Amazing!! Interesting to hear about NFLD too! My eldest daughter moved to PEI a couple of years ago. I haven’t been to visit yet, but she loves it there.One day I’ll make a summer of it and visit all the Atlantic provinces.

    • @NorthernRetreat
      @NorthernRetreat Před 22 dny +1

      @HoneyandMe Love NFLD after Labour Day. No crowds and everything is usually half off, although weather can be dicey. Makes for a relaxing trip and dramatic photography. Drove there and took the ferry once and flew into Stephenville 3 times, and rented a car. A must do trip, especially the northern peninsula.
