The first video i watched of yours was a video where you went into depth explaining the intricacies of honing. An invaluable video for instruction. My mowing improved greatly and incorporated using a coatse stone periodically when my fine stone began to not make the blade sharp enough. Also your description of snath position helped me immensely as did the grip position of the stone and the actual honing technique. I watched it again today to remind myself of some details i had forgotten. Here in southern Florida usa I may be one of the very few people who mow and edge using a scythe. Thank for your videos. They make mowing so much easier.
Glad to hear! Fantastic that some spend the time watching the hole honing video!
This was a fantastic video! It dovetails incredibly well with the last video. I am glad you mentioned the roll of the blade using the Austrian snath as that was the crucial element that I was missing. My swath is now much more even from left to right, now that I know to roll the blade from heel, to toe during the stroke.
I wish I could convey how much more I am enjoying cutting my grass now that I have a scythe. It is a night and day difference, I look forward to my next cut instead of procrastinating it for another day.
I really appreciate your instructional videos. 👍😄
I'm so glad it was helpful and making scything more enjoyable for you! That's exactly what it's all about! Thank you for your kind words and we'll try to keep 'em comin'!
Great explanation! Very helpful, thanks 💪
Thank you so very much for your videos. Beginner here from the Midwest region of the USA. Love your videos.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍 I`m looking forward to the next video...
You're welcome! The next video in the tutorial series will come up in a couple of weeks, but there will be a video on tricky areas in the garden next week, so stay tuned! :)
Thanks for the video's! Learning a lot. Greetings from Belgium.
You are the new Peter Vido!
That's an honour,❤️
thank you for your nice video. it saved me really
Glad you had some actual help! What mistakes did you do before?
Thank you so much scythe master :)
Welcome! Glad you enjoy!
Tanks a lot, very clear and complete.
I'm loving your videos. I feel old at 63...but who knows I may take the leap...
I took the leap, and I'm loving it albeit I am a long way from being very good at it 😂
Great video, I only wish that such was available when I started out, learning from a book and developing a very poor technique. Thanks, Neil
Thank you! It's never too late to develop your skills, or re-learn them. More episodes coming soon, hopefully they will help you get it right. It's a lot more enjoyable that way :)
Herzlichen Dank! Super erklärt!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the great instructional videos! So much good information! And your English is really good!
Thank, glad you like them!
Danke for the video, greetings from 🇦🇹!
Excellent. Thank you.
Very interesting, thank you very much !
Otroligt lärorik serie - tack så hemskt mycket! Du är en pärla ;-)
Tack!
Great video!
Thank you!
Great video, thank you! I think you have a background in dance or physical training classes, the detail in body movement is great.
Two questions, please. (1) I sometimes do not keep the blade on the ground because I want a higher cut of the grass. Is there another way to get this, while keeping the blade on the ground? Blade or snathe adjustment? I noticed your grass is cut quite low. (2) It is sometimes hard to keep the blade on the ground in uneven terrain. Do you have any tips for this? And somewhat related, do you have tips for mowing hills?
I haven’t seen each of your videos yet, so apologies if you answer these questions in another video. Thanks for your videos!
na górkach kosa 70 cm , nie dłuższa i brak drugiej rączki , po to żebyś mógł przesuwać lewą ręką po drewnianym kosisku.
very great guide I'm glad I found you, you explained a lot to me and made it more effective, but if you could do some guide in english for scythe blade honing with hammer, don't know hows that exactly called in english but i cant find guide that will explain how to hone blade properly
@@samuelpac1962 in my channel you will find. You can also visit www.slattergubben.se and go to scythe course on CZcams
Just starting to learn to use the scythe and your channel is a fantastic resource. I have 3 acres with hundreds of oak trees and over 50 fruit trees that I keep well maintained and I would rather use the scythe than a brush/grass trimmer. I lost my lower left leg in an ankle surgery gone wrong (sports injury - bad doctor) so I am having to use my core and hips to compensate for no calf muscle. Please share if you have some pointers here.
Nice! Hard to visualize how it would be without a lower leg but i am sure you will make it! Probably the tigh can compensate a bit but with balance and so its hard to say
I am currently just combing the grass instead of cutting it. I've tried every angle, closed the haft, tried wet grass, no, nothing is working either short or tall grass. I will practice on gravel again tomorrow, see if I can fix what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the video.
It is not always easy and can depend upon many things. A good way is to film your self. Keeping groundpreassure and secure you have maximal sharpness. But impossible without a video to tell what is wrong.
What changes would you suggest in your technique mowing clump grass hay such as orchard grass.
No really, please watch also the other videos
Where does your scythe handle comes from? Quite different from mine, for I PUSH the scythe, and you PULL the scythe. Very interesting, I wish to try this method. (From France)
It is my own design and they are manufactured in Sweden. We ship daily worldwide. The snath is called Nordic and is sold in our webshop. www.slattergubben.se
Do you think it should be more obvious in the videos that we sell some unique scythe- equipment, beside all basic stuff?
And, i push and press down with the right hand , pull with the left. Actually that is done with all snathmodels, even yours. Just really think of what you are doing!
@@slattergubben6702 thank you for your answer. I am just a «beginner self made amateur scythe user». With 8000m² to cut... I will go to your shop
Does anyone scythe righty and lefty? Is getting “ one sided” a concern?
Hardly, it is much less bad for your body only doing one side than you think. I do this professionally each year three month and hardly use left hand scythe. And we do not see any bad imbalancing in the body. But of course there is also lefthand setups and we provide it. Also for the Nordic snath WWw.slattergubbben.se
