    14:23 alot of truckers would do better getting a job at McDonald's or Walmart if they actually looked at their numbers. And they would be home everyday.

    I never understood how the brokers made so much. It almost seems criminal. Never understood why drivers don't form their own brokerage or why OOIDA does not do it. The short time I drove, I liked the company I worked for but the dispatcher got to go home and I was sitting in my cab burning hours not making a dime. It did what I needed it to do but it showed me why the trucking industry is always looking for drivers and the driver pool is the same size but the burn tons of money on company orientations rather than keeping your employees and hauling freight. What are you hauling that gets you 12 mpg?!
    Appreciate the truckers out there doing the work. Be safe! Tough way to make a living......

      My truck gets 5.5-6mpg hauling 78-79k in the west. I was talking about these aerodynamics fuel efficiency trucks. They can easily get 12-14mpg empty.

    Mexican trucks can run cheaper. The drivers are happy to make less and maintenance/non emergency repairs can be done cheaper in Mexico. Small fluctuations is supply make a big difference in rates and anyone thats says all the MX trucks on the road aren't driving rates into the shitter are oblivious. There may be no turning around this time.

    It’s always cheaper to deadhead rather than be stuck with a liability load cheap loads tend to be a hassle always o don’t mind leaving a bed area brokers get mad when I say I don’t work for fuel money I work for profit

    Taking a $1.50 load often means the writing is on the wall. Sooner or letter they’ll get burned out and broke.

    Preaching to the choir. Problem is, low barrier to entry. Then mix in uneducated, and not knowing how to run a business. Unlike the old days. Started in '86. I'm a leased O/O. I'm old, it works for my situation. There's pros and cons.
    I like the freedom and flexibility.
    P.S. I've had my authority in the past.
    My carrier let's me choose, or reject loads if I want.

      Agreed. People also ignore the big picture and run their business load to load. I know what I need to make every month. Not staying out here for months running my ass off just to make a few thousand. If that was the case, I’d shut it all down. I enjoy the freedom, I enjoy driving, and I enjoy being home when I want. And If can make my monthly bills in a few loads.. I’m good 👍🏻

    Could you briefly give me detail your $1.20 cost? Fuel, insurance etc?

    • @DrivingByBraille
      @DrivingByBraille  Před 3 měsíci

      Don’t think I can briefly explain it. Im not giving numbers anymore, people don’t believe me, and they are a lot lower than most. Insurance for example. Insurance on 2 trucks is less than most people can get running 1 truck. Before insurance went up 30% I was paying $8,400 a year for cargo, liability, reefer breakdown, trailer interchange and my reefer trailer. My cost are low. I’ve made videos in the past showing all my numbers.

    Swift runs their trucks at $1.50 per mile, and they are making money.

      They also have 20,000 trucks. They can run at a profit of .01 per mile and make millions. They are also getting government kickbacks. Don’t be an idiot.

    • @RedRedred-ld4pb
      @RedRedred-ld4pb Před 3 měsíci

      @DrivingByBraille show proof they are getting a kickback from the government? You must be a filthy truck stop pimp.
