    Yeah, yeah, I agree Space marines are distant mythological figures, even inspirering. But if I saw one out in the garden, I would *not* see it as a portent of great things to come. I would most definetly see it as a sign I needed to get the hell out of there for whatever was going to follow. I mean, how about some tyranids, wouldn't that be fun? No thank, you!

      Good luck with that without any warp-drive tech. Our max potential atm would be, that we increment a dead count number if we are lucky :D

      I was sort of hoping he and his company would be here to set up a defense in anticipation of something even worse on it's way. You know, on a suicide-mission through a warp/time portal to defend primordial Terra Prime from whatever nastiness that crazed God-Emperor has brought humanity, and is now underway with a new scheme to finally get us for good, sorta borg/terminator-style. But obviously a Space Marine would be bad news on his own. He might as soon feed me to his emperor, as he would take me as good-luck Mascot to bring with him into battles.

      or he could strap you alive to himself as "extra armor". then chaos is more forgiving, at least they murder you first and then strap your corpse onto their armor...

      Being worn as a mascot or a piece of personal protection against any psy-attacks, I don't know, man. To me it doesn't make much of a difference. I get powdered either way. An orc would think me some sort of weird traitor snotling before trying to climb the marine wearing me to bite my head off.

    Can't help it... it was exciting to hear your mention the Mantis Warriors. Been building/running that chapter ever since it appeared in White Dwarf a couple of decades ago & almost never hear them mentioned anywhere. Cool beans.

    This video has helped me with the creation of my custom chapters worlds. The Aura Wolves (my best Space marine chapter) recruit and station themselves on a deathworld/civilized world hybrid called Arcane but can recruit from other worlds near by. However can hybrid worlds exist?

    • @TheCitrusGames
      @TheCitrusGames Před 7 lety +3

      Yes, Mordia is also Death/Hive world hybrid. One side is constantly being scorched by the sun (death half) and the other is constantly nighttime (hive half)

      @TheMadmanAndre Před 7 lety +1

      Not exactly. Not in the sense that you're thinking of.
      Take for example Catachan, one of the most well known deathworlds. It's got massive fortified cities that aren't that far removed from civilized worlds, save for the massive fucking walls ringing them that have literal waterfalls of pesticide and herbicide flowing down them. It'd be classified as a civilized world, if not for the fact that the whole biosphere hates you.

    I've searched the wiki and the lexicanum but I can't find anywhere how is a space marine made chapter master, does it differ chapter by chapter, is he elected, does someone I just say "I am chapter master now" whoever has the biggest balls to do that

    • @larshalvorsen5990
      @larshalvorsen5990 Před 7 lety +4

      It vastly differ between chapters.

    • @heraissilly
      @heraissilly Před 7 lety +3

      while it is vastly different between chapters, the chapters founding legion is the main source of it. The Ultramarines and its successors simply elect the captain of the 1st company, who is in turn the best of all the captains etc
      the space wolfs do it based upon norse lodge style politics, etc

    • @musafawundu6718
      @musafawundu6718 Před 4 lety

      It varies from Chapter to Chapter, but eligibility to become Chapter has much merit based on one's performance of duties, especially prowess in fighting, individually, buy especially while leading a squad and company of Astartes. And beyond that, there are responsibilities with regards to matters of administration and management of resources for the Chapter and also conduct of relations with persons and entities from other Chapters and even non Chapters of the Imperium.
      A Chapter Master is far more than just an extremely formidable and powerful warrior in individual battle and who has proven himself as a squad sergeant and then a company captain, but he is also extremely intellectual and well versed in the matters of administration and diplomacy, and while nominally granted much authoritarian power, he should be more authoritative and act situationally to decide when and what to delegate responsibilities for and when to take direct charge of particular activities.
      All Chapter Masters, with the exception of instances in which severe attrition has reduced numbers to such an extent that there are no Captains in the Chapter - and in peculiar Chapters such as the Blood Ravens, where for millennia Chapter Masters and Chief Librarians were one and the same - have risen to the rank of Captain of a Company. In the Black Templars one must have been a Marshall and led at least one Crusade.
      In some Chapters there is a hierarchy of Captains based on the Company, and others it is based on duration of service regardless of the company. To even become a Captain, certain Chapters mandate that one should have served in the First Company and have had terminator honours. In the case of the Dark Angels, Grand Master Belial of the Deathwing, their 1st Company, is eligible for immediate provisional acting status as Chapter Master in case of the death of Azrael, their Supreme Grand Master. But to be confirmed he will have to be elected by members of the Inner Circle among candidates that include other Grand Masters of other Companies, including Sammael of the Ravenwing and Lazarus of the 5th Company. Politics will play a role. While Belial is respected for his immense prowess in combat among the Dark Angels, even rivaling and said to surpass the capability of Azrael himself, it is wondered whether he can handle the Greater Truth of the Fallen as much as Sammael, for example can. And as such, he will probably not become Supreme Grand Master.

    I wish more people played with less well knows chapters not ultramarines all the time. I think games workshop should not paint everything in ultramarine colors all the time.

    • @chainer8686
      @chainer8686 Před 7 lety

      Oscar Hasan when I got a starter set decades ago, I ended up making them Ultramarines because they seemed to be the default/basic style army with no special rules which changed years later when they made a new codex that included the new honor guard and tyrannic veterans. If I had gotten deeper into the game then I think I'd have gone Imperial Fists or Salamanders.

    • @Oscar-sk2cf
      @Oscar-sk2cf Před 7 lety

      chainer8686 Yh thats why i think that they should paint miniature on the boxes in other chapters. Not paint everything in ultramarine colours.

    • @deckrect

      That's exactly what I was about to comment. In Blood Angels' case, happens the opposite. The baren world of Baal is where they keep the fortress, while the two moons are inhabited by the tribal population, from where they recruit.

      They do a spartan and very lethal selection program. The survivors are trained and indoctrinated into the chapter's tactics and traditions. Over the next decade they will gradually receive biological and cybernetic implants that will mutate their bodies into full space marines.

    will someone please explain to me why are they called "chapters" instead of something... you know... more... normal, like divisions/clans/armadas or something? is it just for fancy, or does it at least have some mildly interesting explanation?
