PT3 BMW F650 GS Adventure Motorrad - The Revival Project - Rebuild

BAD DECISION :(( ENGINE STRIP DOWN- In this episode we make a BAD DECISION. We decide to strip down the engine to discover, if we are correct that the engine is still good and so we can move forward with a complete rebuild of this one off custom Motorsport Themed BMW F650 GS.
We've had this BMW F650 GS, 2004, Twin Spark Adventure Motorrad sitting under some covers in our garage barn, and figured it was about time we faced the inevitable reality of sorting this iconic motorcycle once and for all.
So we've decided to go through this exploration and adventure together with the viewers, and face the unknown together.
The intention is to go through BMW F650 GS, top to bottom. From problem solving and starting this 650cc Twin Spark Single Cylinder Engine, from maintenance, repairs of motor electrics, panels, plastics, shocks and while we are here customizing this one off beauty in the BMW Motard or Motorrad Theme.
Along the way we will be learning and sharing tips and tricks, for the diy'er of the motorcycle world. Comparing the different BMW F650's, (Like the F650 CS, Funduro, F650 Dakar etc...)

A leak down compression test will pinpoint the fault. Leak into crankcase= rings. Leak into coolant+=head gasket, Leak out exhaust= valves. I never heard valves mentioned

Hi, Basically we found that the cylinder head gasket had a breach to the crankcase , but with these bikes shim clearance is also important for compression to be as it should. a leak down test would deffinatly work, however in my case as I cranked it it was clear that all the compression was being lost to the crankcase identifying the problem.
