    • @phoenixrising1576
      @phoenixrising1576 Před 3 lety +1

      @@PamelaMartinez-pv4gj Its about getting the string at the right tension/Pitch. For example the nylon strings on a classical guitar work great especially if they are tuned around the G-B range below middle C. I got my classical guitar to work yesterday in the wind which really suprised me!

So I went back to read intro on Middlemarch and I do believe it could have been the same book. I also noticed it is free on Kindle right now and I often grab free kindle books. I just downloaded it as I finished my last book last night. HA who am I kidding it was more like 1AM this morning.

    @Philrc Před 10 lety +1

    I was just reading up a little on these things and apparently all the strings should be tuned to the same pitch. Apparently it's not the notes that are played by the wind but the harmonics on the notes.

    • @Philrc
      @Philrc Před 9 lety

      ***** Hi, No I'm afraid I haven't . I'll get round to it one day. I think you can probably tune it to what ever you like. I think you're right , different pitches would be better and produce different harmonics.
      this site seems quite informative: www.usca.edu/math/~mathdept/hsg/aeolian.html
      Anyway, hope it sounds great. Let me know if it worked well. :)

    What is the main difference in terms of construction between a conventional harp and an aeolian harp?
    Are they essentially the same instrument but just used in a different way?

    • @christinaayres84
      @christinaayres84 Před 5 lety +2

      Dee Ef Sea aeolian part of the harp is "wind". Played by wind , whereas a regular harp is played by hand plucking out the notes

  • @jondoes8222
    @jondoes8222 Před 7 lety +5

    Hi I was wondering if you could rub resin from a violin resin bar on the strings. It is what makes the violin sing. I believe that if you rubbed the strings with resin from the bar, it would make the strings sing more from extra friction that the resin would produce. What do you think? I have not tried it yet though.

    • @jondoes8222
      @jondoes8222 Před 7 lety +1

      Have you tried it? It will make more friction and the wind will not roll off so easy.

    • @jondoes8222
      @jondoes8222 Před 7 lety +4

      You do not have to be so rude, you have not tried it as well as I but I will and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, if I'm right I'm right. That's what makes the world go around when people experiment and try. Nothing wrong with trying.

    • @juliebrown9724
      @juliebrown9724 Před 6 lety +1

      It shouldn't make any difference. The rosin is only used to make the horse hair on the bow grab the string.

  • @CharlotteFairchild
    @CharlotteFairchild Před 11 lety

    I have a hard time winding the strings tight enough. It would help to know what kind of knots you use. I do macreme` and Dad was a sailor, so I know a little about knots.
