    The lines
“ tell me does she kiss

It’s not specifically about their divorce, but clearly inspired by it. They had just divorced when Björn wrote these lyrics, and you can hear Agnetha’s voice tremble in parts of it. If they had not divorced, this song would not have been written. Their divorce was amicable though, and they remained friends, so there was no winner or loser.

When they recorded this song, they had already decided to divorce. This is the beginning of the end for ABBA, and all four of them knew it. One of the strongest songs they recorded. I'm from Sweden and when I grew up in the 70s and 80s, ABBA along with Stenmark and Borg was the closest you could get to religion.

What? :D The song is only very loosely inspired by Björn's divorce from Agneta. It was touching for them to record, of course, but still pure fiction. ABBA was certainly no religion in Sweden... Sure, many people liked their music, but they were despised by the dominant "progg-music" movement of the time, and largely also by the left wing establishment. It wasn't until the early 90s that it became really opportune to like them.

Love can tempt you to let another deeper and deeper into yourself. If love fail, you must excavate self to reach the depths to which you permitted. Doing so, you throw away forever self that you had to dig through. Finally, they can be gone from you, but so too is gone so many parts of what once made you you. Love is a gamble; some win and some lose but remember you don't just lose them, you lose self.

I`ve heard several non-Swedes reacting to this song and you are not the first one reacting to the lyrics "..the Judges will decide..." .. "The Judges" in this case has got to be referring to the "spectators of the show.."(everyone who lives close to the couple splitting up..).. We rarely had or have use of any real Judges involving divorces here in Sweden.. Björn and Benny have always been writing songs from their hearts, it has nothing to do with any legal "winner" of a divorce case.. These lyrics are sharing the feelings of pure break-up emotions and human abandondness(?).. Björn (playing the guitar) wrote the lyrics when breaking up with Agnetha.. and then "gave it " for her to sing.. Just Incredible!!!.. True emotions, but also a "blue print"(?)/ a true description of many break-ups... This song will never be "out of date"...!!

    about ABBA couples
have romantic relationships immediately they meet in 1969
the blonde Agnetha and the guitarist Björn were married in 1971, had two children and separated as a couple at the end of 1978
the brunette Frida and the bearded pianist Benny were just married in 1978, they had no children between them (if they had each in their respective previous marriages) and they separated at the beginning of 1981
on "The winner takes it all"
this interpretation in Germany is from 1980
    on a Benny tune,
the lyrics were written by Björn a few days after his official divorce from Agnetha
It's not about his own life, but it was obviously inspired by what the four of them were going through in their relationships.
In fact, this song is closer in dates to the separation of Frida & Benny (it will be a few months later) than to that of Agnetha & Björn (it was mad a year and a half ago)
    either way
    "The winner takes it all"
it's a masterpiece among all breakup songs
and Agnetha's interpretation as a lead singer is from another galaxy

I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdón". She is a very versatile singer who sings different musical styles. The truth is that she is a very complete singer. With those notes and those characteristic melismas that she has. Greetings from Spain

Everyone uses the term "split up" they never did. Also Benny and Frida divorced in 81. He cheated on Frida. Unbelievable I would've have thought it would've been Bjorn on Agnetha since she was having so many emotional issues and did not want to be away from the children for more than 2 weeks, etc.

The guitar player, Bjorn, was the lyricist on all songs. The piano player, Benny, composed all of their music. The blond, Agnetha (Ag-net-ha) was married to Bjorn and they divorced. The red head, Ana-Frid was married to Benny and they too divorced. Bjorn and Agnetha divorced before this song was written and recorded. Bjorn maintains that it is NOT about his break up with Agnetha. Still, it had to be very difficult for Agnetha to sing this song. Very difficult!

Don't say cheap decor because AS you were just winding up to say that I'm looking behind your head to try to figure out what that is on the wall I'm assuming it's some kind of big mirror piece that's on there am I right? So... You better apologize because I like that! From what I can see it looks like imitation paua shell design as the frame IF I'm seeing this correctly.

No problems at all Cynthia. I can develope what I meant. In Sweden the children study English from third class and they didn’t dub the movies so people became used to other languages that way (undertext in Swedish), better than in example Germany or France who dubbed it (including cinema). The children choose a third language in 6-7th class (usually German, French or Spanish) and possible more in high school. When they grow up Sweden just had one chanel in TV. I guess they understood English quiet well, but all of them didn’t use it so often in life before this era. Most of the songs who has been popular in the country was orginally in English but actually it was a kind of dubbing to Swedish by the most famous Swedish bands then (and to most of the Swedish dansband). That is a culture of itself in Sweden.

It is surising but in Vedic scriptures, it is not so much how big your winnings is that cause you to stumble subsequrntly. If it is given by God (luck) it is OK and not through unethical means. The other point that is frowned upon by Vedic scriptures is the constant harping of the unfairness. It leads the society decay.
