⭐️ Only two songs in on my discovery of Abba guys, and it’s easy to understand why they were one of the biggest groups of all time. They add such a sparkle into the world with their music, and it just touches a place inside of your heart! Agnetha telling a story with her captivating vocals, and the soothing soft sweet back up vocals are just the perfect mix for this song, and what the lyrics represent. I love what they did with the music on telling the story they started off slow, and then it picked up with Agnetha almost like an open letter that we got to read, and it looked like she was speaking directly to someone, and it was such a pull at your heart strings kind of song, and seeing the emotion in her eyes was heart breaking! The vulnerability here is breathtaking, and the way their voices all blend together is a match made in heaven! I enjoyed this performance guys, I hope you liked my reaction, and are having an amazing start to your week stay safe, love you guys! 💙

I wish my reactors reacted to the lyrics and the singers' phrasing. It's pure genius that the song begins in mid conversation. "I don't want to talk..."' She's not talking to herself. She is talking to someone about something. And this is where Agnetha's phrasing is brilliant. She sings "I don't want to talk..." and you hear the mixture of exhaustion and exasperation. You hear the gasp and dry cry in her voice. She portrays the person who has been wrung with emotion. It is all laid bare in the first sentence. Even her accent serves as an artistic device. I agree with people who say this is a masterpiece. It is so much more than a break up song. It is a song about someone who tried to play by rules, she perhaps didn't understand or underestimated the consequences of participating in the game. The metaphors are so interesting. The songwriter uses the metaphor of playing cards in the beginning, but then relies on the game show metaphor in the end. Who is the winner in this game? The harsh gods that throw wrenches in the system? The lover who abandoned the singer? The other woman? Anyway, let us praise the skill of the musicians, the singer and the lyricist. Imagine, Agnetha sang this song without autotune. The band played real instruments. Agnetha is dressed. Her face is not marred by tons of make up and prosthetics. Everything about this performance is pitch perfect and beautiful.

A lot of people get the impression that Agnetha was like the lead singer in Abba. She sang lead on many of Abbas most known songs, but they both had around equally many songs where they sang lead.
And Frida also sings lead on many hits. Money Money Money (one of their best videos), Super Trouper, Knowing me knowing you and Fernando to name a few.
Fernando was one of Abbas biggest hits, selling more than 10 million, about the same as Dancing queen.
It is almost ridiculous they were written around the same time and they were disussing which one to release first.
One reason Fernando sold so well could have been that it was issued just as a single and was not included on any original album.
It was first recorded for Fridas swedish solo album. But then they probably realised that the song was too good to hide on a swedish solo album so Björn wrote a new english lyric and they recorded it with Abba.

Hello again, so nice to I see your second reaction to ABBA
I love so much the Sweden pop group ABBA
They have more than 20 worldwide hits in several countries of all continents, included
    Waterloo
    S.O.S.
    Mamma Mia
    Fernando
    Dancing Queen
    Take a chance on me
    Chiquitita
    Does your mother know
    The winner takes it all
    Super trouper
"The winner takes it all" is one of their greatest hits, #1 in UK and several countries, #8 in Billboard U.S. and #1 in Adult Contemporary U.S.
"The winner takes it all" have a deep lyric writen by the guitarist Björn and singing at lead vocal by his ex-wife Agnetha, that gives an emotional and powerful interpretation with her lovely voice
note: Agnetha & Björn was separated at the end of 1978 (with two young children) but the legal divorce was in the middle of 1980
after this, Björn wrote this incredible lyrics
(obviously included part of your own history),
and give Agnetha to sing it
at first She cry, but then put all your feelings and emotions and talents to this amazing performing
I hope to see you in another reaction to ABBA songs
I suggest you one of their most worldwide hit:

I've just watched about a dozen reaction videos to The Winner Takes it All. Your reaction absolutely nails it and captures perfectly the essence of what's going on. The soaring, hypnotizing lead vocal, the way the voices combine to draw in the listener, Agnetha's incredible double hold at the beginning of the lead out towards the end.
This group were pure class. I was lucky enough to be around at the time and their power over me has not diminished. It's wonderful that younger people are being introduced to their music by these reaction videos.
One interesting detail that you missed is that, towards the end, Agnetha just stands stock still on the stage, without even attempting to contribute; she clearly didn't want to be there. So heart breaking.

Yes everyone that listens to them is always entranced by them, and it’s not hard to see why it’s a shame they broke up, but I wouldn’t want them all miserable together with all the divorces and break ups going on, just haply they shared their gift of music with the world for the years they were together! Yeah you’re right I did catch it I just didn’t say anything but you’re right it was obvious she didn’t want to be there, and it is heart breaking!

Hello, nice yo see you in another reaction to the Sweden pop group ABBA, the leads in 70s, the decade post BEATLES
"The winner takes it all" is for me the best interpretation of a song that I heard in my life by any singer or band
It is interpretation, because it is more than just singing, it is also acting and transmitting, and Agnetha does all that and on a superlative level
Beyond the morbid that the story of this song produces (the lyrics written by the guitarist and sung by his ex-wife), the structure reflects a change: it is the first time that whoever has the leading voice has been alone from beginning to end,
She goes one way and the choirs go the other (they do not add up, they remain in the background)
and in the end She is left alone passive and exposed, while the chorus and the music finish so up
That is why I feel that Agnetha does an extraordinary performance (extraordinary: out of the ordinary)
Her face is always very expressive and accompanies the various tones and nuances of her majestic vocalization.
(I remember her in other songs like:
    "I've been waiting for You"
    "S.O.S."
    "My love my life"
    "Thank you for the music"
    "Chiquitita")
"The winner takes it all" is a great song, it's in my ABBA Top 5
It is the favorite of British fans,
but fundamentally is the one chose
    by Björn (for his composition)
    and Agnetha (for her interpretation)
And their own words is the one that is worth more
I like you for a reaction to
    "Thank you for the music"
at the end of "ABBA The Movie"

Yes I’ve been meaning to do this one sooner, but it truly is an incredible song the vocals, the harmonies, the piano, the drums the way everything kind of builds up, and Agnetha’s high notes there towards the end!
I knew some of the backstory behind the song, but I love the way you went into depth about it cause I haven’t heard it put like that! She definitely does a fantastic job of expressing, and how vulnerable she must’ve felt too because of everything they were going through at the time must’ve been tough! You can tell they loved doing music together, but the way things ended up happening I guess they were bound to break up eventually, it’s incredible that they did music less than 10 years together or according to their lyrics on google, and they’re one of the most talked about groups of today still that speaks volumes, but I am learning why they deserve all the love! I look forward to checking out those songs as well I know someone has been recommending Chiquita for a long time so I’ll probably check that one out this weekend! And yes: they voices are so awesome together. Both sound absolutely gorgeous individually and together as they say, they make this "third voice". Frida is a mezzo-soprano, Agnetha is a soprano. Together they have a large range and they can sing pretty much anything. And the harmonies are the best I have ever heard. Fantastic.

@@xxxSlavetraderxxx Yes, Benny said that. But later on Björn himself has stated that it was based on his own experience. He actually asked Agnetha, if it would be too painful for her to sing that song. They divorced in 1979. The winner takes it all was released in July 1980 as the first single from the album Super Trouper.
"On this night Björn opened a bottle of Scotch whisky and drank freely during the writing process. "I was drunk" he recalled "and the whole lyric came to me in a rush of emotion in one hour". Tears flowed in the recording studio after Agnetha recorded her lead vocal. She called The Winner Takes It All "the best of all Abba songs. The lyrics are deeply personal, and the music is unsurpassed. Singing it was like acting a part. I mustn't let my feelings take over. It was quite a while afterwards before I realized that we made a small masterpiece."

Saw them perform live back in the 70s when they decided to make the very long trip to our shores, to do some concerts. Well mate, it was we Aussies who actually put ABBA on the worlds music map, so to speak. We Aussies went ballistic for the Swedish Supergroup. Even today the band members admit that things could’ve been sadly different for them, if their albums failed to take off here. So that’s nice that they remember. The interesting thing is that the main singer of this particular song (Agnetha) and the blond haired man (Björn) next to her with the guitar were going through a real life divorce also at the time. The men in the group actually composed and wrote the lyrics for most of the Abba songs so in this case Björn probably wrote up the lyrics that were sang by her soon to be former wife Agnetha.

Suggestion: Try check how to adjust the song's audio level, it is a bit too loud and clipping. Maybe only pause about 4-5 times in the song. You can always watch it again afterwards to add more comments :) ABBA had some of the best song writers in Benny and Bjorn, with the exquisite vocals of Agnetha and Anni-Frid. They truly are amazing plenty of great songs, not a bad one in their history from what I’ve heard! Oh geez someone was literally just complaining well a couple people about me being too loud, and the videos not being loud enough I don’t think I’ll ever get this right lmao 😅 and I have to pause that much I don’t know what reactors y’all watch, and different countries have different restrictions but I noticed if I don’t pause between every 30-35 seconds my videos tend to get blocked and I’m not a big CZcamsr so they don’t overlook that my JIMI Hendrix video got blocked on Friday from me not pausing enough it’s like CZcamss system catches the song if I don’t pause about that time frame! Lol so I can try to shorten the time I talk on pauses but unfortunately I have to pause this much trust me if it was up to me I’d listen to the whole song, and then talk about it after or pause maybe like twice throughout the song lol I know I can’t wait to hear more of Fri’s vocals as well but they all sound incredible! Added comment. The criticisms about pausing could be alleviated by going back a bit in the video before you restart. That way you don't miss the buildup and/or you get to hear the full vocal phrase. You can do that with the arrow buttons. Left is back, right is forwards. It's 5 seconds, and that's usually enough. If not push twice or more - each one adds or subtracts 5 seconds. I've noticed that you don't go back, but I'm easy. ;)
The only other thing is that it's better, when you're watching a video with subtitles, to leave them on-screen. That way, the viewers can understand the lyrics, and you won't get people telling you that there are subtitles and you should turn them on. ;)

It's amazing she was able to be professional and sing this song at all?Look at her eyes in the closeups. :( I was SO sad when they broke up as a group and partners. ‎Agnetha became a recluse, bought a home on an island, then got tangled up with that weirdo stalker guy - yet more tragedy! Their music will endure forever though, all ages love this and can't help but sing along! Great reaction Savvy!

They were able to take all the hurt, frustration, and resentment and interweave it into the writing any recording of this song. Then when the song was released it was as if all the negativity towards each other and the lingering resentments went out along with it.
