  • Patch 6 of Baldur's Gate 3 made some changes to Apostle of Myrkul. The boss has 30 more HP, 1 more AC and now benefits from Magic Plate (-2 to all damage instance).
    Strategy Explanation: I tweaked my previous Titan String strat and decided to use Ne'er Misser hand crossbow instead since Myrkul is not resistant to Force Damage. Scratch also had an additional job this time. I applied elixir of Vigilance on him so that he had +7 initiative and was guaranteed to have his turn in shared intitiative queue. This way, I can try to bait Myrkul's Legendary, Gaze of the Dead which applies Fear, with scratch. In case the Baiting didn't work the failsafe was to have Shadowheart concentrate on Protection from Evil and Good. That was her only use in the fight. Before starting the fight, I threw a water bottle on the Right side Platform and a speed potion at the Boss platform for later use. The water surface was for watersparkler boots. Then I prebuffed and intiated surprise round and convinced Ketheric to trigger phase 2. I had +22 charisma from Lady shar buff (+5) and +17 from character sheet. This was really handy in Act 2 as there are quite a lot of charisma checks and vendor prices are also extremely cheap with this.

    Patch 6 made some changes to Apostle of Myrkul. Lucky for me, I was close to the end of act 2 solo Astarion run when the patch dropped. I have explained the strategy in the description the best I could. Hope it was helpful and or entertaining to watch. Cheers :)

      What would your preference on leveling to 12 be? 6 Hunter 6 rogue? Or even fighter in there? I’m curious about your thoughts

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 3 měsíci

      Gloomstalker to lvl5 for extra attack, then Assassin to lvl 3 for subclass. after that you can take 2 levels of fighter for action surge. then you can take 1 more level in rogue for alert feat (you can take it before going fighter at the cost of action surge delay). final level you can take champion or take a level in war cleric for more attack on bonus action.

    Awesome strategy. Thanks for the video I was having trouble figuring out a way to beat him solo. I think I uh... lost my chance from Roah to get the Ne'er Misser but that's a brilliant idea to get around the piercing resistance

      Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️. Neer Misser is now my staple on this fight 😊. Also love everything that you do with BG3!

    This helped me remember that Scratch could use the help action so thank you very much! Ended up crushing Myrkul anyway with the Nightsong literally not getting a hit in on anything but 2 intellect devourers lmao but it was still nice to free her immediately. I was super nervous for this fight on Honour and I ended up demolishing this chump! Keep up the good work

    Nice one, definitely more honourable than the satchel charge tactic I used to beat him solo (10 smokepowder bombs, the barrel and vial of runepowder, + fireball from the furthest corner I could find).

    I'm not gona say that i am copying you and doing the same thing on my own run but I definitely am. It feels so rewarding just blowing through everything solo and one shotting the npcs

      I love it!! Half the fun is the preparation and mapping an encounter out in your head. And when it succeeds it feels so damn good 😁

    Nice. I had a gloom/assassin Astarion that practically carried me through most of act 1 and 2 when I lost my first ever honor run attempt to patch 6 Myrkul yesterday. Who knew being on a full team was his one true weakness, I guess? He was using the titanstring, no surprise round, and after the character I built specifically for baiting got murdered it was all over. Great idea to use the Ne'er Misser - I actually had it on the paladin/sword bard who disappeared in a hail of "FU in particular" rolls by the end of round 2.
    (In hindsight, honestly should have used IT to pull the Gaze instead of throwing level 4 smites in melee to look awesome - but hindsight is a luxury of Tactical).

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Aww that’s sad to hear. I feel you. The surprise round triggers reliably if you attack from the position I started in. I tested some other openers in tactician mode but sometimes surprise didn’t trigger from other places.
      In my full party run I was not expecting gaze of the dead to trigger in surprise round and my main dps swords bard got frightened and it was a bit of a heart attack too 😅
      Hope you get your HM run done soon too!

      @@rudrasgamingcafe875 Frightened is a brutal debuff. Definitely have one in the works. Just backtracking to tactical so I can have a tactical party with the exact same builds test the waters before major encounters, and have the honor mode party shadow behind them. Kicking myself for not doing that in the first place and using 'delete all but last' after my tactical run...

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci

      yeah I kept all the major boss fights saves in my solo tactician run just in case I wanna test some strats. It is a good place to practise.

      Thank you so much! I have been trying to be better about including the builds I am using specific to boss fight videos. I keep tweaking builds for specific bosses so there is no set in stone item or spell set that I always use.

      @@rudrasgamingcafe875 would you have a step by step levelling and equipment guide video?

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Perhaps when I reach lvl 12 in my honor run and finish my act 3 collectathon I can make a video for the endgame build that I will be using. I have 2 endgame builds in prep, one gloomstalker assassin for most of act 3 and gloomstalker bard for final boss since assassin isn’t good there anymore after patch 6.

    Very nice 2 question s: how long will potions last when thrown on ground and how did u not loose invis?

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci +2

      They will last infinitely until someone walks over them. They can be thrown from out of range of the trigger for the fight, so you don’t need invis to throw them. If you mean the invis on doggo when fight started, after patch 6 Invis goes away on party members that talk during a cutscene I believe.

      It is because of Assassin passive that allows you to crit enemies that are surprised.

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875

      I showed the combat buffs at the start. Among non combat buffs the important were :
      Dark Lady’s grace for +5 charisma to convince ketheric. A “perma” combat buff specific to Astarion is Happy. Also I drank the elf elixir from Araj Oblodra for extra move speed. Rest were inconsequential to the encounter.

    • @jonlucich2854
      @jonlucich2854 Před 4 měsíci

      Ah yes saving the Shar buffs til the fight seem rather important. Excellent execution, by the way. Do you think the Titanstring bow will flop in this fight on Honor Mode? I'm currently running a Gloom/Asassin with some friends and can dish out some nutty damage, but if he is resistant i feel like it may be a detriment.

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci +2

      The damage of enlarge, sharpshooter, gloves of archery all take the form of the damage type of the weapon. So for titanstring all of that additional damage would be pierce damage and get halved due to resistance. Neer Misser however converts all that damage to force damage and gets fully applied. The only thing you miss out is the +8 strength modifier (or a +4 after reduction). However that would still be behind than the rest of the non resisted force damage.

      @@rudrasgamingcafe875 appreciate the breakdown. Will have to swap up my thunder build a smidge, then, for this fight in particular. My build looks almost identical to yours, except I'm using the belligerent gloves and stormy boots with the risky ring for constant reverb and advantage.

    • @rudrasgamingcafe875
      @rudrasgamingcafe875  Před 4 měsíci

      reverb build is excellent. I use stormy boots for most parts myself too in act 1, 2 and 3. watersparkler is boss specific.
