I returned to Tactician after clearing the game on honour mode to try out a couple builds. There are still a few things I can do to improve it. I'm excited to post Honour mode runs in the near future.
Muticlass: Level 6 Bard (college of swords), Level 3 (Rogue Assassin), Level 3 Ranger (Gloomstalker)
Gear:
Weapons: Gontr Mael (Bis bow for this build)
Mainhand: Knife of the Undermountain king | Bloodthirst is a better version if you’ve slayed Orin.
Offhand: Rhapsody | Grants Scarlet Remittance for some more added Attack Roll DC or guarantee crits if consumed. Killing 3 enemies in a row won’t be a problem with this build.
Helmet: Sarevok’s Horned Helmet (Obtain by slaying Sarevok)
Cloaks: Cloak Shade-Slayer Cloak (Found in the guild, sold by Sticky Dono)
Armour: Bhaalist Armour Obtained by becoming a Bhaal Assassin (Unlocks a trader) | This is the best chest piece in the game, its what makes this class do more DPS than Paladin.
Gloves: Craterflesh Gloves Sold by the same trader after becoming a Bhaal Assassin | You can also settle for Flawed Helldusk Gauntlets from Dammon or Gauntlet of Shar for the 4 Necrotic Damage |
Boots: Helldusk Boots | Evasive Shoes | Bonespike boots or even Disintegrating Nightwalkers are all good choices
Rings & Amulet: Surgeon’s Subjugation is the best against all humanoid enemies, the best combo for guaranteed crits from Killer’s sweetheart or Luck of the far realms as you can 100% proc the paralysis for 100% crit on a single target.
You can go for Amulet of Greater Health or Fey Semblance Amulet if you’ve completed Mayrina’s story.
For this video I opted for Amulet of Greater Health for the 23 Constitution
Ring (1): Caustic Band Ring for additional 2 extra DPS
Ring (2): Killer’s Sweetheart
Equipment | Buffs | Elixirs & Potions |
Pre-buffing is essential for this build
Any type of haste | Potion of speed | Celestial Haste (Requires Concentration)| Haste spell (Requires Concentration) Note: You can throw Potion of Speed on the ground before a fight to ensure you gain all 3 turns of Haste.
Murderous Aura from Bhaalist armour, anything withing 2meter of you are vulnerable to piercing damage
Drakethroat Glaive (provides elemental buffs until you long rest): This elemental sets your weapon to the “elemental condition” which gives you more advantage to your attacks.
Staff of Arcane Blessing for bless (Mystra’s Blessing doesn’t require concentration).
Act 3 Statue for 5000 Gold for permanent bless buff
Tharchiate Vigor for extra 20 temporary hit points (obtained in the sorcerer sundries vaults)
Oil of Accuracy for more attack rolls
Zaith'isk buff (All Illithid abilities are now bonus action)
Flying: If you embrace your illithid potential you gain access to Levitate | if not you can collect a
bunch of potion of flying throughout the game and gain the same benefit.

Bloodthirst Potion (Grants additional action after killing an enemy)
Elixirs of Vigilance if you want more initiative (Useful in fights against Cazzador or Yugnir).
Elixir of Vigilance increases chance to hit critical by 1, stacks with your build.
Important buffs that can significantly help:
Long Strider (more movement speed)
Enhance Leap for jump distance (good if you don’t have any flying potion or Illithid levitate)

Haha, I'm glad you seemed to enjoy the video. This playthrough and video was done in Tactician though. I'm in the process of posting my Honour Mode solos, from Act 1 to Act 3 (hoping I survive all the way till the end). I hope you'll check it out sometimes, since I'll be always uploading new Honour mode content.😄
@Kukutiel40411 good luck man. Just finished a solo honor run with a bear barb, it was so much fun, didn't enjoy having to go illithid at the end, but other than that it was brilliant.

This is insane. Every single time i think i understand this game, some badass like yourself lets me know that im still a child learning how to walk. 😅 i did my obligatory tactician run, and it looked nothing this overpowered. Truly impreseed and ashamed😂

As Gloomstalker Assassin gains popularity, a tutorial similar to the build I've provided here ought to exist.
You can choose to prioritize your skill points to Dexterity and Charisma (17Charisma | 16 Dex for example) | 15 constitution and set Intelligence | Wisdom | Strength to 8.
In case you choose to go with 14 constitution, my suggestion would be to choose 10 Wisdom (for checks) or 10 Strength (for jumping or increased carrying capacity). Perfect for a Tav.
The equipment, elixirs, and buffs utilized, along with their locations, are referenced in my descriptions (Recently updated) 😊.
I plan to begin creating guides at some point in the future. Maybe following my Solo run in Honour mode. :)

Do you fiund yourself using an invis potion before every fight to make use of the assassin subclass? Its benefits seem very situational to me
Indeed, the invisibility potion is a blessing in this game, especially considering how widely available it is-virtually all vendors offer it. The surprise condition greatly advantages the assassin subclass, and considering how many invisibility potions are dispersed throughout a game, it's surprisingly simple to use. Can't go wrong with 100% Critical in 1 turn 😂

Surprising an enemy can be a bit tricky, as they need to be within your LOS (line of sight). There are also a few conditions that need to be met to do so.
Here's a way that I do to consistently surprise an enemy.
In the video that I'm currently editing to upload soon, I surprised the enemy 100% of the time by inflicting conditions such as wet from rain, hex, or even hunter's mark if you play any that utilizes piercing damage.
In this video, I used black hole to displace the enemy which sets a condition triggering surprise.

Why not go 4 in every class for the extra feats for Dex upgrades?
Level 6 Bard gives extra attack, which is essential. All you need is Sharpshooter feat for this build as you can get dex from Hag's hair and 2 more from the mirror of Lost. Correct itemization, and having the right gear is what completes the build, the rest is execution in combat.
Going level 6 bard, 3 ranger for gloomstalker as well 3 rogue to assassin is ideal for a strong gloom stalker assassin.

I included a quick rundown of my build in the video description and a few responses from comments, including which feats to prioritize and subclasses.
The correct itemization and careful preparation for every battle, including making use of the Bard's Slashing Flourish Range attack, GloomStalker Dread Ambusher and the Assassin's Subclass guaranteed critical from surprising enemies, are the main factors that contribute to this build's effectiveness.
Although there are a number of videos and guides covering the build I used in this video, I still intend to make a guide at some point because the GloomStalker Assassin has become so popular.
Imagine being one of the strongest devils and get killed by some guy with a bow.

How did using fly after black hole give you haste?
I tossed a Potion of Speed at the pillar to the southwest (upper right on my camera). I love to capitalize on this incredibly useful technique, which doesn't consumes one haste round if you use a potion of speed before to a combat. Every potion you toss into the ground retains a remnant of its status effects; if you happen to walk into one of these while engaged in combat, you can benefit from its advantages.😁

how are you getting advantage on all your attacks? i was expecting risky ring, but you aren't using it.
Gloves of the Automaton, these gloves are often missed by many players. I will Argue that this is the best gloves in the game for all melee/ranger class lmao. You can simply wear it, prefuff Circuitry Interface and all of your attacks with weapons will have advantage along with the attack roll benefit from this gloves.

That pre fight buffing doesn’t work well on consoles. By the time I apply the last one, the first one already expires ….
You could try going for buffs with the longest duration first to shortest duration. Potion effects can be obtained by walking on them, such as throwing potion of speed. I hope this helps.

That is an appropriate level to try fighting a devil and where you should be after doing some minor quests around Baldur's gate unless you missed a huge chunk of the game like the underdark but that's on you

This shit should not be possible, but it somehow is. And again, it's not just the game. You can do even worse things in normal tabletop, if you know how.

To be clear, I'm not depriving myself of the resources to defeat Raphael on solo.
My intention in making this video is to demonstrate the things you can do solo. Resources to increase the class's efficiency are accessible throughout the game, including scrolls, potions, and elixirs. So there's nothing wrong with using them.
You're right; anyone can compete solo and succeed; all it takes is the necessary time, effort, and preparation. That's why it's all made feasible by using tools like scrolls, potions, and status advantages.
Since many of us enjoy making use of the resources found throughout the game, I'm very sure that many of the Videos posted by the BG3 Solo content creators won't live up to your expectations.
@@Kukutiel40411 I think you missed my point. You used all those potions and scrolls in advance, before the fight which is kinda cheap, you cheesed it. I wanna see the fight with out all the prep. Use those things during the fight, that's how you display your skill and how good the build is.
@@remster5284 I get the idea behind not pre-buffing being much more impressive. Raphael can still be soloed rather successfully using the Gloom Stalker Assassin build.. Since the game lets you pre-buff beforehand as part of its mechanic, I don’t think this qualifies as cheesing; you're free to disagree with me on this point, but I won't argue with you. In BG 3, pre-buffing before a fight is a typical solo tactic, it is both logical and efficient, this doesn't take away a player’s credibility of being a skilled soloist.
Still, this gives me a thought for the future, so perhaps I'll give a solo Honour mode without prebuffing a go sometime.
Have you played D&D, or even any RPG or MMORPG @@remster5284? Buffing to the max is always done before boss fights. Seems like you're just complaining to complain.
@@remster5284 many other games like witchers 3 or the souls genre would use buffs and potions and its not cheese by any means because this is honour mode and you should use everything you have access to
