    Hello, how are you? I have a question. So, you recorded everything with Nvidia Shadowplay, but my question is, did you export each video in a different format

    So, AV1 seems to be the way to go for recording and encoding while playing, right?

    • @BrockA_YT
      @BrockA_YT Před 12 dny

      This is late but- While yes it is, you need the hardware to even be able to encode AV1 (4000 series nvidia cards), and then every editing software I know of does not natively support importing AV1. So HEVC is obviously the middle ground as it can encode on more cards and can be used on most editing software, I know premiere can import it at least.

    Even VP9 or H.265 are good anough, but not supported by Microsoft RDP.

    Can you make a video that talks about the difference between hardware encoding and software encoding? From what I understand other CZcamsrs to say, is that hardware encoding is much better at high biterates and tends to not looks as good at say, 15-20 mbps or less. Whereas software encoding is the opposite, and is better suited for lower bitrates getting a more accurate image. Software encoding isn't necessarily bad at higher bitrates, but is just far less effective in terms of export times compared to hardware encoding.
    Could you do some tests to see how true this is?

      @ALEDAMAS Před 5 měsíci

      es prioridad codificar por hardware, codificar por software solo si su hardware no lo soporta
      la ventaja por hardware es menor tiempo, menor uso de recursos, eficiencia energética
      la calidad del video depende de los ajustes establecidos, no va relacionado a lo anterior

    • @CodecsBenchmarked
      @CodecsBenchmarked  Před 4 měsíci

      Well, the difference is simple: youtubers say that hardware encoding is better because in most cases they show the best setup for streaming + playing a game at the same time. Hardware Encoder tend to be much less demanding. However, if you want to achieve the best visual quality, the software encoders will be better at every nitrate (given that you use one of the slower presets).

    the only problem i have when recording Videos with AV1 Codec: it doesn't create Thumbnails. They have just that VLC Symbol.
    When i record it in NVENC the thumbnails are there.

    The compression seems to have been done by the GPU and not by the CPU, you should use some Staxrip type encoder in slow or superslow to obtain the best quality with those bitrates. It is just a tip. Maybe there you can see the real difference in the compression capabilities of each format.

    dum6azz explain to me why you use H264 fastest stream preset for comparison? Nobody uses that for recording and it's more ridiclous to use it for comparison

      VerySlow is actually the slowest preset for x264.

      @@CodecsBenchmarked It's not. I know X264 like the back of my hand. I work with video daily. X264 doesn't put such a blocky pixel mess especially at 8 mb unless you fokk it up on purpose.

      In the case of Among Us, AV1 has poor reproducibility when expressing simple images.
      And since it only supports AV1's hardware acceleration, it looks even worse on mobile.
