How to biohack your cells to fight cancer - Greg Foot

- Check out the science of biohacking, where biologists go into a patient’s genetic code and reprogram their immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells.
--
The human body is made up of about 30 trillion cells that carry a code which has been duplicated over and over for billions of years - with varying degrees of accuracy. So what happens when the system breaks down and the machinery turns on itself, leading to cancer? Greg Foot dives into the science of how biologists are biohacking the human body to try to fix the seemingly unfixable.

He should do another again
Found this because of Pierangelo
Is this cyberpunk?
I had to watch the video twice cuz I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying the 1st time thanks to the super cool animation
I'm a molecular biologist and IMO the best thing about this video , obviously aside from the top-notch animation and script, is that it conveyed the important scientific concepts as effectively to a 10-year old as it did to a professional scientific researcher. The consistent use of computer science and robotics analogies all throughout was genius. Absolute great work, TED-Ed!
Better way is metabolic starvation for many types of cancer (not all though).
@@Zeroni82 I would say all cancers are applicable to metabolic therapy. Block sugar...easy and cheap(fasting and keto diet). Block glutamine...Cheap with an off patent drug called DON. Certainly not the biggest cash cow to cancer yet Car-t. Lookup Dr. Thomas Seyfried here on Yt. He explains it well
I'm literally in tears at what humans are able to accomplish. This is amazing.
If you say this to whoever made this video, he would say that human accomplishments are copying errors sometimes work for the better
And people still thank imaginary friends that according to their logic created the problem in the first place

My aunt’s mom has cancer. They were so excited to celebrate her birthday but she started feeling ill and later found out it was cancer. The doctors have said that there’s nothing left they can do and it honestly breaks my heart. I just hope she makes it for one last Christmas and hopefully a new year. Currently my family is selling food so they can raise some money (not sure whether they started a go fund me though) So this video makes me bittersweet for one it’s amazing that better treatment for cancer is being made and there’s even talk of a possible cure in 10-20 years, however it’s heartbreaking that my aunt’s mom won’t see or receive such treatment 😢 I have met her a few times but it still breaks my heart to know that she’s in pain and that she won’t see her baby granddaughter grow unlike the rest of her older grandchildren. Stay safe everyone and go to the doctor, get checked, do your yearly needed doctor checks. 🙏🏼
Sorry to hear about that.. research RSO oil that’s what I’m about to give my mom.. it has helped a lot of people already! This kills cancer cells

I'm just happy that scientists are getting closer and closer to developing a long-lasting cure for these types of life-threatening ailments every year.
How so? Car-t has helped less than 5% of cancers and probably won't get much better numbers without dipping into metabolic therapy to turn "cold" tumors into "hot" tumors. If they just accepted the metabolic therapy they would manage ALL cancers without the huge cost. Maybe they haven't accepted the metabolic therapy because it won't make them money. And Car-t cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per patient. But surely they wouldn't deny a highly effective broadly applicable treatment because it won't make lots of money would they?

Actually there's research going on where the scientists are trying to stop the shortening of cellular telemores which stops aging
I think you mean _more_ resistant
@@crywhit4619 yep
@@Satwikg_7 Trust me I'm biding my time for them to finish
@@Satwikg_7 I'm afraid halting the shortening of telomeres is just an easy way to develop a lot of cancer. The telomeres have a specific length for a reason, after so many cell divisions chances are high some critical errors slipped in, eventually leading to cells accumulating the necessary traits to classify it as cancerous. It's basically a self-regulating mechanism to prevent old cell lines from duplicating even further because it's very probable the damage to the code has become too high. I'm betting my money on stem cell therapy instead.
