Hi, I've had a drum since they first came out and believe me they are not the be all and end all. They are great for very little maintenance but they don't stop all the fines. Have you noticed people with drums are fitting up flow filters with k1 or or other EA media in to remove what gets past the drum. as long as you get your flow rate right and don't mind the cleaning process I'd stick with what you have and spend your money on fish. If you check out Quality Nishikoi they only fit nexus and beads. They only fit drums if the customer insists. The water quality on their ponds are among the best you'll see. I think you can get an auto kit for your filter too. I've just found your channel and enjoy you videos thanks.

Thanks for the kind comments. Welcome to the channel 👍🏼 Great feedback on the drum. I have been over the moon with my nexus so far. Genuinely enjoy cleaning time. I am seeing increased complaints about drum reliability so deffo one to watch. Most complaints of the nexus seem to be due to not setting up correctly. Appreciate you taking time to comment 👍🏼

Sorry to drag you back but I’m working through your videos from the start. Loving them and will be pretty much carbon copying what you have done when I build my pond but probably with a box weld liner. One question though. With your “rainfall top up” are you filtering your tap water? Sorry if I missed the answer in a video. Keep up the good work 👍👍

Hiya - Thanks for watching. Hopefully you are enjoying the videos. My water is filtered through an EA dechlorinator. It’s something I do need to upgrade this year as flows are limited. Any help with your build, just shout 👍🏼

Loving the top up system 👌. Have you got a video on how you made it?

Honestly there’s no science to it 😂 Take a strip of timber, get some armoured cable cleats (15mm) and fix a length of garden hose to the back. Drill holes every inch along the hose. Fit a hose connector and away you go 👍🏼

Just wondering why you insert the clear insert after closing the slide valve to isolate the nexus from the bottom drain? If the slide valve is closed there should be no need to use the insert. Although a small amount of water will bypass the insert if the valve is open it is negligible and will have no impact on the cleaning cycle especially if the drain valve is open.

I’m guessing the EA instructions cater for those that don’t fit a valve - wanted to include it in the video so anyone without a valve doesn’t crack on without putting it in. Plus even on the final wash cycle you get a bit of crap go back towards the inlet - after a nice clean I don’t want that running straight back in, rather it go with the drain off. Thanks for the question 👍🏼 Best wishes.
