  • This video shows how to clean the Nexus 220 and talks about the differences in cleaning the 20 version over the 10 version. so maybe you can decide for youself if you want to upgrade or not. personally if i still had a nexus i would do the upgrade.

    Good video mate. Very straight forward. One thing I don't get, is why they never changed the inlet plate. Well I do 💰. The sieve they sell is £500 but if they just changed that plate. Having a mesh similar to the sieve it would do the same job. I understand it would overflow when full. But it can be removed when away. Let's face it 2secs a day when feeding...... Job done. Great video though.

    Hello Adam, fantastic video, watched them all 👍. You're obviously very knowledgeable about koi filtration, would you mind suggesting a filtration system for my upcoming koi pond please . Above ground, approx 5.5 ft deep and 13,000 ltrs outdoor / mostly in sun pond . Had koi ponds many years ago but it seems to have moved on since then. Was going to go for a nexus 320 ( in theory far in excess of requirement ) but will be directly visable from the house including a viewing window. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Adam, would you upgrade to a draco drum if you had a nexus. It will be a hassle to take out the nexus and re run the pipe work, so just wondering if you’ve had and experience with the drop in dracos?

    Nice, well informed video, appreciate info.
    I was wondering, as I may do it, would it be worth combining a Cetus sieve and Nexus 220? Or are there better options available?
    Thanks again, please keep making new vids, I've watched them all now!

    Looks like a good improvement on the 210 , I have the 210 and like you say after cleaning there is a lot left in the bottom of the filter , and when you open up again it all goes back in the pond ..nder how much an upgrade is ? ..Dave

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 8 lety

      The 220 upgrade kit is £295. so its a bit expensive really but i can't see any further improvements they could really make by bringing out a 30 version and it is definatly easier to clean.

    What auto system would you recommend for a 20,000L koi pond between a nexus 320 or oase proficlear compact M?

    Hi Adam,
    I am building a new pond. As someone who has used both Nexus and RDF, which system would you recommend?

  • @ronaldevans7289
    @ronaldevans7289 Před rokem

    Adam why don't you have that Middle chamber bubbling all the time? And that would help keep the muck from building up.

    Hi mate, i have two nexus 300's with the easy pre filters, there about 12 years old now but still in perfect working order, was just wondering if you can put the k1 micro in the easy part or are they to small and will just full through the grill slots, thanks for your time

    • @mirola73
      @mirola73 Před 4 lety

      I've got a 200, so same centre as you. Apparently not suited for micro k1.

    Do you find that the nexus 210/310 or nexus 220/320 have enough biological filtration for the pond or will it only work for smaller ones such has like a 2,000 US gallon pond? Or is it always better to had another filter to help with biological filtration?

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 8 lety +1

      yes you are spot on this pond and filtre are 4000 UK gallon (4800 US gallon) but it has a bakki shower after it to pick up the slack. EA are not so bad but my rule is double the filter size so if you have a 2000gal pond get a 4000gal filter so you can feed your fish as much as you want and your not tied down by filter capacity. I would never run any filter at its recomend pond capacity in some cases the pond capacity is not including any fish not mentioning any companies that do that but (oase).
      Thanks for the comment (i might make a video on this topic)

      Awesome, the video would be great! It just always seemed to me that even though the nexus filters generally have the best mechanical filtration; nexus filters kind of lacked in biological filtration, but maybe that is just me. Also, do you know any real way to calculate how much k1 media a person needs to filter a small pond, I.E. 1000 US gallons pond with normal feeding habits. It is hard to find how much is necessary to biologically filter a pond, but maybe it is always better to go with a ceramic type of media for biological filtration. Also, does static k1 media do any real sufficient biological filtration or is it mainly there for mechanical filtration? Sorry for all the questions, lol.

  • @ManLykMatt
    @ManLykMatt Před 7 lety

    for a 1.5k uk gallon pond would this still be the best option for money wise? and does the filter do both mechanical and biological?

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 7 lety

      I think so yes it would not be my first choice but the filter on My 1,000 UK Gallon pond cost 3x what that Nexus did. By that i mean its good for the price and will be a great filter on your pond and yes they do mechanical and biological. I just love drum filter but they are so expensive.
      Hope that helped

      Adam Julyan yeah thanks a bunch, im pretty surprised you replied on a video so old, I'm only a kid so i cant really be spending thousands on a filter I'm just looking for the best options for price and results

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi, yes it would however it would also benefit from a shower or alternative filtration as k1 is not as good with nitrate as a shower would be.

    Hi could you answer this question please
    I would like to pump feed a nexus 320 from pond up to the filter which will be above ground. I see a lot which are level with the water but not done this way. Is it possible
    Regards
    David

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 5 lety +1

      Nexus come setup to be pump fed you have to alter them in order to be gravity fed so yes it can be done. there is just an extra pipe on the outlet and it changes the cleaning method slightly its all in the instructions you get with a new nexus.

  • @AshD92
    @AshD92 Před 7 lety

    Adam for some reason I keep getting my k1 micro going through the nexus grill when cleaning the air pump throws the k1 micro around then it comes out the grill to go to the waste I get one out and the micro is crushed up thats how it finds its way out the grill does yours have the same problem I had the 310 with the same problem the k1 going under the nexus kit to waste because that kit was screwed down without any bottom in the kit just so disappointed 👎

    You said, "... if i still had a nexus i would do the upgrade."What did you switch to and why?

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Před 7 lety

      I switched to Drum filters "Profidrum" you can see them on my other videos. they are so much better at mechanical filtration and require very little maintenance less than once a month. although you need a biological filter to go with them unless you have the version that includes a nexus style k1 chamber.

    I think you should try to keep your hands out of the filter water, it's a bacterial soup.

      Just dont drink it you'll be fine. and wash your hands. or just use a stick whatever.
