Thank you Phil for the demonstration and answering my questions about specific applications of this machine !
Looks great
Look forward to more videos about the machine .
I really like this idea. Shifting pieces of wood are a pain in the arse and once they have shifted, there is no way to realign them without drilling another hole. As far as the Kreg foreman goes, if I had this pocket hole machine, I would make a small table for it that lines up on each side with the table of the Castle 110. That way cutting holes in sheets of plywood or glue-ups would be simple to control. I was considering a foreman in my future, but this might be a great option. I've had a Kreg K4, I have a Kreg K5 and I have a porter cable unit (no longer being produced). Each one has its drawbacks. I see that Kreg has a new unit coming out that is similar to the porter cable model, but it still has a couple things I don't like about it. I will have to look into this some more for sure.
I have a Foreman and the pocket holes suck compared to the Castle we have at my work. I'm going to dump it as soon as I can afford to replace it with something by Castle or maybe the Maksiwa PHM.30
I gotta get one!
Love the look of this product, but you can adjust the web on all other pocket hole systems I’ve used (6:15)
What maximum stock thickness can the machine cut?
Hey Phil, the owners manual link on the product page seems to be broken (requiring a login to access). I wanted to check it because I heard you say that the thickness of material allowed is 1/2" (or 7/16) to 1". Does this mean 2x material is too large to fit? Product looks awesome otherwise! Here from Stumpy Nubs' video.
Wondered the same thing and you can look at it and tell that the 2x material will not fit. Looks like a great machine but it also looks like the answer to a problem that is really not a problem. If it won't do 2x then I don't want it.
@@jeffstanley4593 Agreed. I like the performance and look - both of the machine and the pocket holes. But since 2x is half of what I use my current pocket hole setup for, this tool doesn't offer enough to make me want to switch.
do they make plugs like the kreg to plug the holes?
They do, check their site.
are there any wood plugs available
There sure are, you can find them on our site by searching "wood plugs" or with the URL here: castleusa.com/categories/wood-pieces/5-16-wood-plugs.html
Can the Castle 100 be retrofitted?
Sorry to say there isn't a way to retrofit the 100.
1.5” ?????
Will this do 1 1/2 material like 2x4 and 2x6
Yes!
@@tundrawhisperer4821 it worked for me for outside chairs. Just used longer screws.
@@5280Woodworking you can slip 1-1/2” thick material under the clamp?
@@tundrawhisperer4821 Yes. It can be adjusted to just larger than 1-1/2. It even says so in the manual. “The Castle 110 was designed for material thicknesses from ½” to 1”, but can handle materials down to 7/16” and up to 1 ½” thick. “
@@5280Woodworking 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Too bad it’s price went up so ridiculously high. I’ll make my own before I fork over that kind of $, for what it is.
How much is the castle.
The current price of the Castle 110 is $449
@@castleusa5250 Seems to have gone up considerably (now $539 - 20%) in the last month!
@@mikes1330 now 650???? WTF
Saw this at a tool show a couple of years ago. Not impressed. Good concept but needs improvement. Kreg still wins in the field all day.
$400 and you still have to pull out your drill for the pilot holes. Pass.
Hey Abe, thanks for the comment. The Castle 110 was introduced to the market near the end of the year last year (2020). Many agree that we have made improvements over our previous version. Cheers
@@castleusa5250 I don't see any noticeable differences with this design as opposed to the previous one that actually stand out. Still seems like a lot of extra work for something that's pretty simple to start. I agree about the angle on the kreg is more severe than it should be, but I'll take the poor angle over this for speed
is it so loud that you didn't turn it on?
Probably got more videos of them using it.
Way too noisy for me bruh!!
Wow guys, sorry to say but 660 dollars is insane for a pocket hole machine. Your are missing the market for this. Pro Shops are going to go for the bigger model. Your average hobbyist woodworker is not going to see the need for this machine at that price point. Kregs foreman pocket hole machine is still only 399. Why in the world do you think your product is worth spending 260 dollars more. They all do Pocket holes....Seems like you guys are pricing yourselves right out of the market.
Exactly.
Paid for itself a few times now just in finish carpentry frame work. The reasons he mentions are exactly why I don't use the kreg for anything but non precise, rough lumber now. I actually prefer this one on the job site when I have to haul all of my crap far from the trailer. It's not even a hobbyist argument, just another tier of customer. The same people who have things like infra fences probably would like these.
Originally the price competed with the Kreg so for a hobbyist it doesn't make sense anymore is all@@NGinuity
Bad sales strategy pal !
$399???? ARE YOU KIDDING.
nope - $539!!!
@@mikes1330 More then that now...659.99
674$
Would rather you spend more time showing off your product vs bashing how bad other products are. First couple of minutes are about how bad something else is. Wow me with how good the product you're showing off is. Then maybe I'll believe it's good and try it.
Hey Christopher, thanks for your comment. We are sorry you feel that way. We are not aiming to bash anyone. We are simply stating the difference between drilled pockets and Castle Pockets. If we don't establish the benefits of the Castle 110 first, most people will think this is just another pocket jig/machine.
