Mia's films are portraits of human life. Her style is rooted deep in French cinema and her approach is subtle yet powerful. Since watching Goodbye First Love, I was entranced. There is no one like her working today and the work will still resonate decades from now because her stories are human and timeless.

Loved her in “Blue is the Warmest Color.” The French tile of that movie is “La Vie D’Adele.”

Normally I would tease about Joseph saying "A better story...", but today I would love to tell the Oscars, "A better story would have been if Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler were nominated.". I didn't comment on your review of the Oscar nominations, but I really enjoyed Nick going off about it. I even heard hints of his accent (every time he said "bag") I've never paid attention to. Good job!

I also understand what Nick said. Sometimes I love a mundane movie. I don't always want to feel extreme emotions.

I'm also a fan of her 2014 film Eden, which I saw at TIFF and it was great to hear Mia speak about her process and inspiration. This one might hit a bit too close to home for me, but, I think all the more reason to watch it. Thanks again for you reviews.

I felt like the end part of the movie was a fantasy. Her kid was limping ...maybe phantom pains... but then she was climbing stairs so quickly when she got her back with him. I don't think he comes back and that's why her tears on the bus are so real and effective. It's because they are permanent.

Thanks for the review... sounds almost too real to be enjoyable, but it could be a heart-wrencher and helpful to some! Joseph's comments about "not wanting to talk to them, they don't seem too interesting" was pretty telling. 😉
    😅🤣😂
Are you two planning to review Gerard Butler's "Plane"? I am very intrigued to see what you both think about it... I'm going to see it today. Thanks!
