The Pope can change man made laws and avert to two Sacraments if the Holy Spirit directed. I am only interested in Christian values. At present we have 7 Sacraments in the Roman Catholic Church. I am not misleading souls but sadly you seem to be unaware of what Christ was about. Burke may be jealous of Spiritual guidance to the Cardinals who did not favour him as Pope. I thank God for the Holy Spirits intervention there. Jesus made only 2 Sacraments whilst on Earth Baptism and the Eucharist. May God show Mercy and Forgive you and Raymond Burke for speaking out against our Holy Father. Amen.

    The proposal of cardinal Kasper is totally uncatholic. it is abominable to say the least. it is false to say catholics can live a life different from their belief. the Sacrament of the holy Eucharist is the center of catholic life, our final submit. The person who lives a life contrary to the churches teachings cannot in good faith receive communion.
    Satan is on the loose to destroy the church of Jesus Christ, and if your Holiness does not protect the seat of St Peter from this Kasperian Heresy, all of Christendom, whether catholic or not, will suffer gravely from this error.
    Furthermore let us not pretend that we do not know our God is a Merciful God, of course even the scriptures and tradition assures us of the tenderness of God's mercy, Nevertheless, we can not over emphasise God's mercy above his justice. while he is a merciful father, he is also a just judge. And a departure from his will (the Kasperian proposal) will attract nothing but condemnation all the perpetrators of this Heresy.
    FINALLY AND VERY IMPORTANTLY: I suppose the church has to consider the consequences of this Kasperian proposal:
    1. on marriage: this will bring a totally collapse of what it means to be in a valid catholic marriage. the Sacrament of marriage will now have, what is called a second chance, and of course this is absolutely abominable. While supporters of Cardinal Kasper may pretend that it will not, we have to look at the consequences of the proposal not just in our generation of church history but also in the light of the church's past and future history. it is unfaithful to the apostolic tradition we have received in the past and it will have an horrendous effects on our future history.
    2. on the sacrament of reconciliation: it will shame the sacrament of reconciliation and will ultimately mock the true meaning of God's mercy. the sacrament will now be a place where a priest will say to a remarried person "Your sins are forgiven, go and continue in your adultery". My gracious goodness! even a one year old can see that this is totally unacceptable under true christian theology.
    3. PAPAL INFALLIBILITY: this is perhaps the most threatening for the future of the church. if the see of St Peter declares this error, the catholic world is in trouble. the implication remains that the teaching authority of the church will be brought into into question, hence all of catholic teachings that flows with it. your Holiness be remained that all of christendom looks at the see of Peter with keen interest ( whether out f spite or good interest), a departure from what even most non catholics perceive to be the true teaching of christ, which the church has upheld for centuries will be devastating on all of christendom.
    4: "it was not so in the beginning,.. it was because of the stubbornness of your ancestors that moses allowed divorce....." you holiness should not make the same mistake moses made which our lord jesus sort to correct. while moses has an excuse that he had not baseline to make his decision on remarriage, your Holiness does not, because God the Son, himself spelt out this teaching clearly without mixing words.
    Most holy father, consider these issues and see the truth of the opposition from the likes of Cardinal Sarah, Burke, Mullër etc. and condemn this Kasperian definition of mercy as a Heresy.

    • @shirtless6934
      @shirtless6934 Před 5 lety +1

      The trouble with that verse is that Jesus, the Son of God, apparently did not know the difference between fornication and adultery. A married person cannot commit fornication (which is sexual intercourse between unmarried persons), only adultery. So what are we talking about? Under the Jewish law, if a man married a woman, and then discovered that she was not a virgin (had committed fornication prior to the marriage), he could put her away and go shopping for another. If a wife committed adultery, the question whether she could remarry was moot, because she would be stoned. And with the adulterous wife out of the way, the man was free to marry again. What would be interesting to know is the nature of the conversation that led up to Jesus' statement. He was speaking a society which allowed men to divorce their wives at will. Did He mean to say "do not divorce unless you have serious grounds?" That seems more likely than the tortured definition given to the word "fornication."

    In addressing the subject of divorce, I think it's prudent to look at ALL ASPECTS of the subject -- including why both Moses (under the Law) and Jesus (by Grace) allowed for it, under albeit narrow circumstances. Even Paul said later that, if an unbelieving spouse left the believing spouse, the believing spouse IS NOT UNDER OBLIGATION in those cases.
    When someone's marriage falls apart, we as believers DO have a duty to God and to our spouse to try and reconcile. That is not always possible in cases of adultery and disbelief. Whether in body or in mind or in heart, the adulterous spouse has still betrayed an intimacy that should only be shared within the bonds of marriage. Rather than adding insult to an already injured believer's injury, the church has a duty to seek to RESTORE that believer.

    Sadly all the people who want acceptance at the assembly will press for this 'new' proposal which actually is part of an old protestant motion that caused schisms to form. Christ was referring to responsibility and fidelity, how bad the relationship is till married couples have to live apart from each other, but still considered as one. Thus celibacy and chastity returns while separated, till death do they part. Christ Jesus modeled marriage as his relationship to the Church. He will always remain true even if the unfaithful cheat on Him. Why won't the rest of the Catholics, the clergy and lay honour Christ with their way of life by keeping true to His words? The world will pass away, but His word is forever.

I strongly advise you to never leave the Catholic church for it has the fullness of truth and Christ himself in the Holy Eucharist under the appearance of bread and wine. if you have any questions please ask.

      People who went through a divorce, can only survive if they look forward,at the future. The Church has to give them hope for the rest of their lives.What was broken, can often not be repaired. Maybe they come out of this situation as better persons, and maybe they became wiser. And maybe only after this failure they understand the true meaning of the sacrament. Their second marriage is better than the first one. Of course, the situation becomes more complicated when there are children from the first marriage.

    • @yeeck

      Leo Renier Hi Leo. With charity, I must disagree. "Divorce" is a human construct. We can survive only if we look to Jesus Christ; We can only be better persons if we look to Jesus Christ; we can only be wiser if we look to Jesus Christ. Christ is the hope we seek in His gift of salvation. Our life in this world is not for our repose or our happiness, it is to labor for our salvation. To put temporal happiness before the service of our Lord is to turn our back to Him. "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple."

Clear language: a church leader must be a man without fault, he must have only one wife, be sober, self-controlled, and orderly. Why accepting the first, and not accepting the second statement?

    • @ChildofGoodFortune
      @ChildofGoodFortune Před 9 lety +3

      Leo, the Roman Catholic Church is not like Pentecostal Churches that take every word of the Bible literally or rely only on the Bible. Remember the Catholic Church put the bible together in the first place so it has good idea on how to use and interpret it :). For myself, I do not see these two points as linked but I would definitely not challenge or discount words that come from the mouth of The Lord Jesus Christ. I know that many would love a greater element of choice in their beliefs, but choice in what you believe is just another name for heresy. Obedience seems like such an outdated and irrelevant notion and yet it is at the root of reconciliation and true relationship with God. It is only when you try it that you realise the great benefit and blessings within it. Peace.

    • @slimjim7920
      @slimjim7920 Před 9 lety +1

      Hi again Leo. Not trying to pick on you, of course. But again, I must disagree with you. Obviously the meaning is that a man cannot have more than one wife, because at the time some men had more than one wife. If you take the words of Scripture exactly as they are written, without placing them into the context of God's history and without interpreting them in the light of what Christ has revealed to His Church, what do you do with verses such as "Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you."? By your logic, a small poor child that dies before it can physically receive the Eucharist can't attain Eternal Life.

    There is no doubt that satan is behind this. I have always thought people come to the church to change themselves. Not go to the church so you they change it! The Catholic Church exists for one reason only. That is the salvation of souls. A philosophical conclusion could be drawn from cardinals, bishops, and laity who support a change in church teachings or how we approach our faith . This conclusions is that they do not have the supernatural faith in the powers of this Church established by Jesus Christ himself. If so, then why the need for change? Why the need for discussion? If you really believe that this one holy apostolic church was truly founded by our blessed Lord himself then you would already know in your heart that it's mission of salvation of souls needs nothing that this finite world could offer. Why would something perfect need changed?

    Mr. Burke, your position is all well and good, except for one thing. Since the 1960's, the church has been handing out annulments, granting over 90% of the petitions that are filed. There cannot possibly be that many marriages that are void ab initio, so what we have is the "Catholic divorce." Even Pope John Paul II expressed amazement at the number of annulments being granted in the United States. If the Pope does not understand the process, then I certainly have no obligation to understand the process, except to state that it is a scandal.
    Those who are willing to spend the time, the money, and the frustration with the intrusive rigmarole can have things fixed and get married in the church again. Look how the church caved in to Frank Sinatra when he married Kay Spreckels, which was his fourth marriage. The church looked especially bad, because in the 1950's, it raked him over the coals for divorcing Nancy and marrying Ava Gardner. But now, the church, its pockets undoubtedly full of Spreckels money, declares the marriage to Nancy to be void. Those who are not willing or able to, or who refuse on principle, to countenance this nonsense have no recourse under the present rules. It is a double standard, and it should be eliminated.
    Under the modern nullity rules, the church is longer asking whether a marriage occurred. It is asking whether one should have occurred. Were the parties fully understanding, were they mature enough to enter into marriage, did they have mental reservations. While each of these things might justify a divorce, they do not destroy the validity of the marriage itself.
    And, oh, by the way, what are we going to do about all pedophile priests and the bishops who cover them up? I no longer believe that the church is capable of handling this on its own. We need to have the civil authorities intervene, send the priests and their bishop enablers to prison, and confiscate any church property used in furtherance of a criminal enterprise.

    Pope Francis wants the bishops to consider the Eastern Orthodox practice of having a marriage be divided into regular marriages and penitential marriages. The first marriages are normal, the second are allowed by the bishop (eparch
    ), via economia, after he has issued permission for the divorce and is set in a penitential tone liturgically; and after the second marriage Orthodox are not allowed any more unions. Pope Francis wants to restore union with the Orthodox and this would help that process--do I agree with the potential changes in sacred doctrine or praxis, perhaps not. I would venture to guess that the Synod will prepare the way for second marriages way into the future, but until then the Synod really has no power to change doctrine and the Pope would not unilaterally change the doctrine of marriage without a majority consensus of Cardinals and bishops--possibility even convening an Ecumenical Council to ratify the changes. We will wait to see if the clouds gather around Rome or the light...

If the marriage is deemed invalid, as with an annulment decree after investigation by the church, then, and only then may a Catholic marry another who has never been married. truthaboveagenda While I agree with everything you have said about Pope Francis' sad conduct, we can't fall into the heresy of Sedevacantism, which is another novelty of the 20th/21st century. The First Vatican Council (1870) pronounced:
      "He made Peter a *perpetual* principle of this two-fold unity and a visible foundation, that on his strength an everlasting temple might be erected and on the firmness of his faith a Church might arise whose pinnacle was to reach into heaven. But the gates of hell, with a hatred that grows greater each day, are rising up everywhere against its divinely established foundation with the intention of overthrowing the Church, if this were possible. We, therefore, judge it necessary for the protection, the safety, and the increase of the Catholic flock to pronounce with the approval of the sacred council the true doctrine concerning the establishment, *the perpetuity*, and the nature of the apostolic primacy. In this primacy, all the efficacy and all the strength of the Church are placed."

      Rocco O. God bless you my brother.
      According to St. Paul's warning, to we who Love Christ, this teaching of the first vatican council is error: "Yet even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8)
      False Francis the same as False John Paul II are cursed by the Almighty, for teaching against the Holy Gospel. One example being that both of these evil popes have taught the faithful that muslims are our brothers. This blasphemy goes directly against our Lord's teaching, " you can not serve two masters." Our master is Jesus, the muslims master is satan. I have no thought whatsoever of leaving our wonderful God given Church, these unfaithful false popes are what Pope Pius x warned about- the enemy within. I believe from my studies that we are in the final days and we the remnant are the true Church, once again overseen by the first Pope- Jesus himself. Alpha and Omega. With Love, Joseph de Jesus

      invalidity of marriage means it wasn't blessed by God because of some reasons. if this comes to the light later, then after providing an evidence to the pope and proving validity of grounds, the pope then can annulate invalid marriage

    The Biblical 'word of God' says all sorts of things that we no longer focus the spot-light on in order to keep Christ's central teachings of compassion and non-judgement. Can't you just feel in your hearts that Pope Francis is truer to the kind, loving, forgiving spirit of Christ's message? Burke wants sound, consistent, eternal doctrines that are intolerant of increasingly more people... Gay or divorced/remarried people are not "evil"... give them a break. The Church covered up corruption and child abuse which is much more "evil". And if we're going to go by every word of "The Book", then I want a slave! The thing I appreciate about the Catholic Church is its ability to accept scientific findings and to adapt to reason when it's needed to remain relevant. The Church has made huge changes over the centuries to adapt to new the realities of the world and life in it. It must continue....

    • @jean-baptisteo.8961
      @jean-baptisteo.8961 Před 9 lety +2

      If you're suggesting that the Catholic Church accepts the "Big Bang" and Evolution as true then you are mistaken. You commit the error of modernism, as condemned and destroyed by Saint Pope Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis (encyclical).
      While Jesus Christ was charitable and merciful to sinners, he never tolerated or accepted their sin. Real charity does not justify compromise and abandoning the truth. Christ Himself told the Apostles to go 'into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.' (Mark xvi.15-16)
      "The Church", as in the immaculate Bride of Christ, didn't cover up anything. The cover up was performed by some leaders within the Church, who are fallen human beings just like you and I.
      By the way, should we apply "compassion" and "non-judgement" to those who covered up the cases as well? Where do you draw the line about making these judgements? You are correct in labelling these acts of abuse as "evil". But why do you stop there?
      Slavery was different in biblical times, among the Jews. It was never based on race or skin colour, but on economic and social status. Many chose to become slaves in order to provide for their families. Scripture itself condemns the practice of capturing people to make them slaves and trading them as mere cattle (see Exodus xxi. 16 and I Timothy i. 8-10), which would be considered the modern form of slavery.

Cardinal Burke is merely being obedient to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: "But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery." Being merciful and charitable to those in adulterous relationships is not to cast them aside but neither is it to soften or change the commandments of our Judge. Just as a child raised with little discipline learns nothing of how to be disciplined, so it is with the sheep of the flock of Christ.

The church wanted $20,000 for an annulment, this is so the Pope can fatten up the bank accounts for the Vatican. Now, since her first marriage didn't exist, this now makes her two sons bastards because the marriage never existed. You do have a point. I think it's fatal that there are two parties in the church right now: The ones who abandon the dogma, the orthodox teachings of Holy Mother Church, to promote their "social justice" - and the ones who have a very strong faith, who defend the faith, who hold on to catholic teachings, but cannot show any mercy. This problem is most noticeable with the problem of homosexuality. The first group supports the gender ideology and demands the sacrament of matrimony for homosexual people, and thus abandoning the very clear and by many popes confirmed teachings. The other side holds on to those teachings, but sadly, they cannot find love for their "enemies", they almost preach hate und violence towards homosexual people, insulting them, degrading them, making them look like gross monsters which would eat children (although much criticism is rightful). If the people who love dogma and the teachings of the church would find some mercy, some love, some charity in their heart, they would be much more successful in bringing people to faith and in promoting Christ's gospel by their example. Jesus himself did not go to the sinful woman in Bethany to condemn her for being a sinner, he helped her and showed her his mercy. He did not insult her until she was willing to repent, he plainly showed her his mercy. That doesn't mean he accepted her "lifestyle", but he DID give her a chance to change - and she did.
