Now Schneider is claiming he is the true magisterium of the church, so he will probably have to be excommunicated, like his buddy Lefebvre.

      @robert112uk Před 6 lety +22

      You are perfectly correct Patz13. Eucharistic ministers are a sacrilige. It is a case of doing something bad that something good may result. This is never allowed. ONLY the consecrated hands of the priest should EVER touch the Blessed Sacrament. It was always thus before vatican 2. May God restore us back to proper reverence for the Most Holy Sacrament.

    • @tomwolf8721
      @tomwolf8721 Před 6 lety +14

      In the past, you are correct. However, in an emergency especially when someone was close to death, Holy Viaticum or Communion could be taken to the emergency by a layman
      Also, although extraordinary ministers of the Holy Eucharist may be over used at Mass, there are many nursing homes, hospitals and homes with shut ins that have the Holy Eucharist brought regularly to the faithful; sometimes daily, where the shortage of priests would mean this would be impossible and many of the faithful would not receive any sacrements.
      Also the rectories are called when the Sacrement of the Sick may seem necessary. Many Catholics may have died without this Sacrement of eternally great importance.
      Although I agree with you in general and in the need to honor Jesus, but remember Jesus broke the bread and handed it to His disciples.
      In this time of great mercy the privilege of lay people taking Jesus to the sick and elderly may be an extraordinary gift of God to us.

    • @elating96
      @elating96 Před 4 lety

      paula proulx I apologise; I thought you were referring to Mother Teresa's promotion of religious indifferentism, a heresy.
      As is clear from what I cited, one ceases to be a Catholic if he dissents from just one point of Catholic teaching or dogma. This applies to "popes" as well -- one cannot be the head of a body he is not a member of.
      St. Robert Bellarmine, De Romano Pontifice, II, 30:
      “This principle is most certain. The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope, as Cajetan himself admits (ib. c. 26). The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member; now he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian (lib. 4, epist. 2), St. Athanasius (Scr. 2 cont. Arian.), St. Augustine (lib. De great. Christ. Cap. 20), St. Jerome (contra Lucifer.) and others; therefore the manifest heretic cannot be Pope.”
      St. Francis De Sales (17th century), Doctor of the Church, The Catholic Controversy, pp. 305-306 : “Now when he [the Pope] is explicitly a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church…”
      The heresies of several of our last "popes" are numerous, clear and public, but it would suffice to say that "canonizing" a heretic is enough. In fact, Antipope Bergoglio is guilty of exactly the same heresy spread by Mother Teresa. And many others.
      Thus, the Seat of Peter is vacant.

      +Jeanne McCarthy There is absolutely ZERO evidence in Scripture that the Apostles received Holy Communion 'in the hand'. There is no account in the Gospels which states that Christ placed Holy Communion in the hands of the apostles. The words "take and eat" (in reference to the Last Supper) is the same greek word that is used in (John 20:22) which says "receive the Holy Spirit". In the context of the Last Supper it means "to take in the mouth", "to receive what is offered". - And there is only ONE historical document (THAT IS SPURIOUS - taylormarshall.com/2011/01/did-church-fathers-practice-communion.html) which is peddled by modernists who claim the early Church practiced 'Communion in the hand" (and as I stated the document is spurious). ALL the rest of the Church Fathers only ever mention receiving Holy Communion directly on the tongue.
      So I guess 'what was good enough fro Christ and His Apostles' isn't good enough for you!

    My journey into wanting communion on the tongue started when I read somewhere that Voltaire, who, I read was an avowed atheist, said to one of his Catholic friends.. that if he truly believed that Our Lord was in there Eucharist that we would be crawling up in reverence to receive him. That I've statement got me thinking and actually looking at how I was receiving our Lord, not only where my heart was, but how it was offered in my church. I will now not receive in my hand anymore. Period. Voltaire was right...an atheist was right!!!!!

    • @jamestouchette859
      @jamestouchette859 Před 2 lety +4

      There's an interesting upshot to that realization, though, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. First, I am a devout Catholic that has recently started receiving on the tongue, kneeling, exclusively. But, here's my thought. If Voltaire was right, then why are we NOT approaching the alter kneeling, or laying prostrate, or, even better, not receiving at all because we are not, and never will BE worthy until He makes us holy in the hereafter? Obviously, we can't NOT receive it at all because that goes against the wishes of the Lord Himself! But between receiving it irreverently and not receiving it at all out of TOTAL reverence, there is a compromise. Now, you and I both believe that the best compromise is on the tongue, but the mother Church herself has decided that on the hand is also acceptable. Now, if we both admit that we as humans are not worthy to receive Him, and nothing WE do can make us so, then we have to aknowledge that on the tongue doesn't MAKE us worthy any more than in the hand. We can never be FULLY reverent by actions. With that in mind, isn't it fair to say that, as the Church has decreed in the hand to be okay, isn't it then appropriate for we, the obedient Faithful, to then accept that what the Church blesses as officially and morally acceptable?

      @@jamestouchette859 I don't agree with your appreciation of the Church blessing and considering communion on the hand okay and morally acceptable. The Church gave permission not a blessing. Quoting Memoriale Domini (1969):
      [Pope Paul VI] judged that the long received manner of ministering Holy Communion to the faithful should not be changed.
      The Apostolic See therefore strongly urges bishops, priests, and people to observe zealously this law, valid and again confirmed, according to the judgment of the majority of the Catholic episcopate, in the form which the present rite of the sacred liturgy employs, and out of concern for the common good of the Church.
      If the contrary usage, namely, of placing Holy Communion in the hand, has already developed in any place, in order to help the episcopal conference fulfill their pastoral office in today's often difficult situation, the Apostolic See entrusts to the conferences the duty and function of judging particular circumstances, if any. They may make this judgment provided that any danger is avoided of insufficient reverence or false opinions of the Holy Eucharist arising in the minds of the faithful and that any other improprieties be carefully removed.
      The co-author of Memoriale Domini also wrote (The reform of the liturgy 1948-1975, Annibale Bugnini, page 644):

      @@pablobustos3439 you don't have to agree with it. You DO have to trust the Magisterium of the Church and surrender humbly and obediently do what she decides in matters of faith and proper exercising thereof. If the Church has found that reception in the hand is valid, then you don't get to declare otherwise. You DO, however, have the right and obligation to receive on the tongue if you justifiably believe it to be the duly relevant course to follow. I agree with you that it is proper to receive on the tongue. But I won't let my will supplant the authority given by God to the Church in such matters.

It is tolerated, but is not the right way to receive Jesus. This is the reason why it was accepted by Paul Vl. SACRED CONGREGATION FOR DIVINE WORSHIP, Letter “En reponse a la demande,” to presidents of those conferences of bishops petitioning the indult for communion in the hand, 29 May 1969: Acta Apostolicae Sedis 61 (1969) 546-547; Notitiae 5 (1969) 351-353. I prefer the TLM. But if you have a good Novus Ordo said by a good priest, that is almost as good. It is the lack of faith in our priests that is the real problem. You can always tell when they don't really believe all that the church teaches. It shows in their slapdash masses. It is not the form of the mass that is important, it is the attitude the priest brings to the mass.

    The problem with the argument of the little fragments (really, microscopic), is that it is impossible NOT to happen. For when the priest breaks the large host, it has been experimentally proven (using high definition, high speed video photography) that very fine fragments of the host explode out from the host when broken. These super fine fragments fall on the patten, the altar cloth, and the floor in front of the altar. Those pieces, invisible to the naked eye, are then walked on by the priest as he moves to the communicants, and those on the cloth covering the altar are eventually put through a washing machine. (The priest himself washes his hands of fragments after Communion.) How, then, are we to be worried about microscopic fragments on our hands, when priests themselves are not worried about walking on fragments, or washing fragments away in a washing machine? As someone on Catholic Answers once responded, once the host is broken down in the acids in your stomach, the microscopic pieces cease to be the body of Christ, because it loses the very nature of the sacramental that it had possessed (which includes the symbol under which the real body and blood of Christ are presented).

    I remember as a child going to Latin Mass and it felt you were in the real presence of Jesus and in a Sacred place. Communion on the knees and in our tongue, is more than just good "Etiquette" as some claim. It is a matter of respecting the first commandment. It is a matter of giving God all of our devotion and respect. It is about having a healthy fear and respect for our Lord Jesus. Present in the consecrated Host. Which after consecration by a validly ordained Catholic Priest, it then becomes the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him all the Honor and Glory, now and forever. AMEN.

By the priest staying put, it leads the flock to believe it isn't a big deal. And because Christ is a male, therefore it makes better sense for a male to distribute the body of Christ who was born a man. And even better sense that it be only the priest.

      BitsyBeth I have no more energy or time to give my opinion to those who refer to themselves as the true " Traditional Catholics ". It usually never changes anyone's mind and intrudes into my prayer time. I will only say this: are women considered less " holy " to pick up the fallen hosts? Not reverent enough?
      My uncle was a Ukrainain Catholic Priest. He impressed upon us that priests were not saints. They are human, they sin. But like all of us, they have access to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and, like all of us, they are on a journey to holiness.
      As far as women in the Catholic Church, you might want to dig a little deeper into the role of women in the early Church. I will leave you with this information:

      Holy Church’s understanding of what the Lord gave us in the Eucharist deepened over time brought us to a reverence that needed appropriate physical gestures of humility. Now that much of the reverence for the Eucharist has been undermined, over decades, people also don’t know why they should adopt positions of humility in the presence of the Eucharistic Lord. As the practice of standing and receiving in the hand spread, a vicious circle was created which further eroded reverence in congregations.
      AND with it, MANY abuses & desecration, both purposely & inadvertently ( particles and crumbs being brushed to the ground and stepped upon, and each and every particle is the ENTIRE BODY of Jesus Christ!)
      I hope people will on their own choose to receive Holy Communion only on the tongue.
      We need more kneeling, more Holy Communions in the state of grace, received directly on the tongue, from the consecrated hands of priests.
      May God bless you ALL...

      Somebody who receives communion on the hand may be receiving Our Lord much more reverently than someone who receives it by mouth. How can you possibly judge? You do not know what goes on in the mind of people. Also, I don't believe Our Lord, who created us, " We are fearfully and wonderfully made ", would consider our hands unworthy or " dirty ". He made our entire bodies, and who are you to decide which part of our body is better. He handed the Apostles his body, under the species of bread, into their hands.

Now my daughter's nine and told in Catholic school it's ok to either receive in the hand or on the tongue. I felt like beating her principal over the head with my Bible. Lol. Now she wants to be like alllll the other kids and not be singled out. So...with me I always advise her before mass starts on our way to church, it's best to receive on the tongue. What's she do? Receive on the hand. Smh. Same thing with her class when they have mass as a school. Yeah....it starts at home. But the Parish priests and teachers who were brought up like me could do something to sway this abomination........but they won't. But I won't stop telling my daughter how I feel either. I have no idea how that Consecrated Host got there to the toilet - if this a true story, which I doubt. However, if it was a Consecrated Host, I would think Jesus could extract Himself, and probably did, from that place, returning the host to its original state - a piece of bread. My point is with all of this 'legalism' being expounded here (something the Lord warned against), Jesus is perfectly capable of leaving any person or place where He isn't truly wanted, or being disrespected, ridiculed, profaned or abused. We can't confine Him to the Host - He is perfectly capable to depart - and thereby de-consecrate - returning the Species to their original nature of bread or wine, even before falling to the floor and being trampled upon, for example and which, I believe, is done most of the time unknowingly. I don't have a problem with Communion in the hand, or with 'Extra Ordinary Ministers', men or women, helping to bring the Lord to their fellow Catholics, either in Church or to the sick and homebound. As long as it is done with the utmost reverence and love for the Lord. I'm a pre-Vatican Council Catholic and have always been in some way involved in some type of lay ministry all my life. I loved the pre-Vatican II Mass and I love the Novus Ordo Mass even more. It is celebrated in language I understand, and, at my parish, it is done with much reverence and respect, and includes the use of professional organ music (songs of the liturgical season), the use of incense and some short Latin prayers and there is no clapping of hands at the end of Mass, to, I suppose, stroke the ego of the musicians, or choir, and acknowledge their 'performance' - they are simply lay ministers contributing their talents to worshiping the Lord and He will reward them.

    “ It is legally licit “ This priest admits that, plus that there is no dogma that says that the Eucharist must be received directly on the tongue.
    This Priest is really giving his own opinion, and the reasons for his opinion.
    To equate receiving the Eucharist in the hand with eating in a cafeteria is truly an unkind comparison and is in no way valid. Or even eating in the kitchen. We use utensils in the kitchen and we line up in a cafeteria, possibly while chit chatting. There is no sense of receiving anything special in a cafeteria.
    At Mass, we line up quietly to receive Communion. We bow when we are behind the person receiving Communion. Then when we receive Communion, the Holy Host is held up before us. The Eucharist Minister then says, “ The Body Of Christ “. And we respond “ Amen “, take the Precious Body and Blood of Lord into our hand and put the Host in our mouth in front of the Eucharistic Minister.
    How does this equate with a cafeteria?
    If the angels prostrate themselves before God, do you think we should also lie down in front of the Host while we receive Our Lord?
    By now, in this day and age of science, one must realize that microscopic pieces of the Holy Host are moving around in the air. How do we capture those?
    Our Lord is Divine and was also completely human while he was on the earth. At the Last Supper, he broke the bread and gave it to his apostles. They were eating with their hands. We know this because they were dipping their food into bowls. Jesus walked over a gave a morsel of food that He had dipped in a sauce and handed it to Judas “ in his hand “.
    If it was acceptable then and with the first Christians, why is it wrong now?
    And please do not bother explaining that the apostles were already priests, because they had yet to abandon Jesus at His time of suffering, receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and then receive Our Lord’s instructions at His Ascension.

      And indult was granted for the u.s.c.c.b.s in the early 1970s because it was believed that it would be a gesture of ecumenism and a way to compromise with our separated brethren and call them back ...also because the prevailing attitude was that we can stand as adults rather than kneel like children because the Church had come of age....the Catholic Church in some dioceses have been since that time losing up to 10 Catholics for every 1 convert. And an indult by definition is to give Apostolic permission for something illicit and against the universal norm and you should read the strict guidelines that are supposed to be followed for the indult from The Holy See to maintain licitness. All which have in one way or the other been ignored....please don't take my word for it do the research. I went from one extreme to the other on this matter Not taking anyone's word for it. Only by search for the Truth!! also read in the Gospel of John Where after our Lord was resurrected Mary Magdeline tried to touch him and his response " Do Not Touch Me for I have not yet ascended..." ..then in just a few paragraphs Our Lord is instructing Saint Thomas to put his finger in his Hand and his Hand in his side.......the difference...One was consecrated the other not.

      And at the Last supper......again consecrated Hands (the 12) and the bread being dipped was not the Eucharist. Note who got the dipped bread. The three Things all enemies of the Church focus their undermining, denying and marginalization on are The ministerial Priesthood, The Blessed Virgin and The Real presence. All of which can crush Satan....food for thought. Read Cranmers Godly Orders and you will see a complete parallel between what Thomas Cranmer did in England to dismantle the Mass and belief in the Eucharist and The Systematic implementation of the innovations thrust on the Norvus Ordo Missae of Pope Paul VI.....there is no resemblance between the Actual Mass of Paul VI (promulgated in 1969) and the Mass of the west today

      Unfortunately many priests don’t believe. And you must know that for consecration to be valid the priest must have the intention to do what the church does ie offer the sacrifice of Jesus to the Father. If the priest no longer believes does he form the intention in his heart and mind. Are the hosts dropping all over the carpet still bread or are they the body blood soul and divinity of Jesus? Are you receiving Jesus or bread? Learn the Catholic faith. The enemy has entered the holy place.

    A sacrament contains both the symbol of the body of Christ but also contains the body of Christ and thus is holy. The bible is thus holy because the word is God. And marriage is holy and the seed of both man and woman is holy. And so with eavh sacrament. But our age forgets the holy and both the meaning and the substance of the holy. To the pig nothing is holy. And modern man like pigs regard nothing as holy either in the meaning or in the substance.And those who defile scripture with their own intrrpretation and opinions and self drfile the word of God. Thank you for caring so much. And i am a pastor in the separatist tradition which nobody higher than the individual christian. St. ARCHANGEL MICHAEL. "Fear not my voice which is the voice of the triune God, who sent me to speak in his holy name for God must be, I not only loved but also respected and obeyed all consecrated and religious. they have not obeyed, they have had and have to pay their debts and mistakes in this life or in purgatory, not counting those who have gone to hell, God does not play nor can hide one behind the other, each is responsible for his actions, words, thoughts and omissions. in the Holy Catholic Church, obedience has always been a very important virtue, esteemed and practiced, but in the latter, is in decline for the rebellion and presumption. All this, work of satan and his demons, as is its seal, which has printed deception and fraud communion in the hand in the Catholic Church and all who give and take are wrong with a false obedience to the church and its hierarchy, because they are the most responsible for all who are committing sacrilege, and have roiled the fervor and devotion and worship the august Sacrament. It is a sacrilege leso that men who have anointed their hands by the Bishop, touch the Sacred Body of Christ with his own hands. The sacred is sacred and the profane is profane, but the devil has gotten them many, that everything is as sacred. And with this wrong teaching, he has lost respect and adoration to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Everything is diabolical plan well prepared for hell. If the faithful and priests they saw with their eyes the face, what happens in every sacrilegious communion of the Body and Blood of Christ, I sure would not. When a priest puts the Sacred Host in the hand of a sinner who does not have them anointed by the ordinary, demons, there are around the priest several who know them gives way, jump for joy and make parties, and they go behind which he has taken in hand, to continue tempting him and deceiving him. And the priest who gave him point somewhat in their favor, for the day they can harass his soul in the particular judgment. And Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is derided in his painful passion, all this, he suffers mystically. And the guardian angels of the priest and the communicant, like all others who are around them with the saints in heaven, weeping sore and ashamed. I Miguel, I am the angel in charge of bringing souls to heaven, who have already finished their purification in purgatory, and in truth I tell you that there are many souls of priests and faithful, who gave and took communion in the hand, pudiendolo have avoided, giving it and receiving it in the mouth, voluntarily and freely without missing obedience .......
