- The organizers of the Paris Olympics issued an “apology” over the blasphemous depiction of the Last Supper during the Opening Ceremonies, stating, “Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group.” In his homily today, the Very Rev. Therefore we address him as "father" out of respect for his fatherly role. A useful rule, always consider the INTENTION of an act. Calling him father out of respect doesn't mean i'm worshipping him. Actually for all the criticisms of Catholicism, you can find the explanation online, if you sincerely want to know the truth. We should get the enemy right!

If the organizers had staged it in a private gay/drag club to an audience of consenting/paying adults who clearly wanted to see a show like that, it would have been bad enough but at least it would only have been shown to people who clearly INTENDED to see it. Broadcasting it to an audience of millions, of all ages, who tuned in expecting to see only a tribute to athleticism and international harmony, is effectively an assault upon this audience.

The Olympic opening ceremony in Paris, France was to me aesthetically distasteful. I used to think this city is the center of great art & fine culture. The ceremony lacked focus on the essentials of the event. The frequent insertion of what seems to be woke culture of the city was disparaging & poignant. What's more, the shameless display of testicles and morally offensive drag depiction of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ was utterly outrageous. Is this France today? This France is not worth the blood of the heroes of Normandy and the respect of the billions of Christians worldwide !
The path to this was already stepped upon years ago, decades ago, I do not remember the date, but do remember an Olympics opening in France which among its content had The Cat in The Hat, it was not what generated the sense of satanic, it is just the marker in my memory which identifies the event, other content in that opening ceremony gave me a feeling that satanic spirits were within it. Think what I said publicly back then was along the lines of, "That was a bit weird and had an unsettling vibe." And then there was in 2016 the opening ceremony I guess in Switzerland for the railway's Gotthard Base Tunnel. and more recently in UK was that ceremony in where was it, Brimingham?, which had that bull/beast. The title of the piece was "La Cene sur une scene sur la Seine." Translation - The last supper on a stage on the Seine river. La Cene is the French name of the last supper. When they say they didn't really mean it to look like the last supper, they are just lying.

The Olympics claims that this spectacle was merely honoring Greek gods. They also claim that religious expressions are not allowed during the Olympics. They must pick one or the other.
On this they claimed this is related to the Olympics which is from Greek antic and the athletes in that time were competing naked. So they wanted to honour that lol

Greek gods are mythology. Not relegion. In France, religious symbols are not allowed in official public places. So there was not allusion to Christianity or any religion during the ceremony. Only mythological, historical and cultural personalities were exhibited. Stop your fake ranting please. The priest talks of all the pagan gods. So what? It was only a pageant. Not canonisation of a saint!
I have watched several videos
of the opening of the Olympics
with the torch ceremony on
Mount Olympus, Greece. They
tried to recreate the religious
aspects of the ancient games.
(as a Christian, something that
I was not fond of) --
However in recent years the
ceremony itself has become
more lewd and crude--
(as opposed to women in long,
flowing Greek-style gowns
being rather decorous) during
their parading around the
so-called Olympic fire on Mt.
Olympus -- Or, wherever they
were doing this ritual.
Anyhow, they give the torch
to a runner who then runs
"x" distance and passes the
torch to the next runner, etc..
across countries that can
be accessed to bring the
torch to the Olympic game
site for that particular year.
No medal is worth eternal damnation for your soul. If I were a Christian athlete, I would pack up my bags and go home.
Personally, I will never support the Olympics ever again unless a sincere apology is made and changes happen so that this NEVER happens again. Blasphemy of Our Lord Jesus Christ is intolerable!!

Read an interview with the designer of opening ceremony, denying the Last Supper and giving the Greek spin. Then he says how it is an expression of France and how they have the right to love who they want, to marry who they want and to believe or not to believe. "We have a lot of rights." If not a religious attack, why mention they can believe or not believe ?? If it were a matter of restricted beliefs then go after places that do not have freedom of religion. They are insulting the God I love and worship and now they are insulting my intelligence.

yeah the hypocrisy is astounding.
They'd never admit anything or actually feel sorry. The church just needs to work harder on our education, on how catholicism is not about oppression, the true meaning of sin, the true meaning of love, and that of freedom of course. I think society needs more clarification on catholic teachings because there are a lot of misunderstandings on the faith.
Agreed! Sadly, most Catholics have never been catechised properly. So, now we have the challenge of catechising lukewarm Catholics who now embrace protestant ways. How do you undo that mess???
Absolutely agree. My RCIA conversion to Catholicism from being a Protestant was poorly handled. Instead of my learning the basics of the faith and what the differences are from what I grew up with, the person teaching our class - while extremely intelligent and a biblical scholar - presented things in a hard-to-understand fashion and also talked about things that were deep theology. Way over my head. It was a frustrating experience. At least one of the class members quit and went elsewhere to complete the program.
